@Wendysfriend Fantastic, I'll swap you for the purple ones and strawberry 😁😁😁
eeeeek! nooooo, not the strawberry ones! but a definite yes to the purple ones 😍

YuliaJollyberry · 21/10/2023 01:46

I bought 2 bags of chocolate coins, squirrelled them away but kept sneakily eating one or two and now they are all gone.

I will be buying the ingredients for Christmas pudding and cake this week. Will start getting chutneys, relishes, nicer jams and marmalades when I see them as I know I can be trusted not to open those.

@avocadotofu I'm pretty organised, yes! Plus it stops me spending £££ all in one go so I can fool myself that I'm not spending that much 😀

I do love an organised person. I did my gift shopping, wrapping, and cards in Jan

Yes but Santa might forget to visit if I drink a full one!

I love a half bottle of champagne - it feels so luxurious. However, in the interests of economy, I'd buy a better value 750ml bottle and finish the rest on Christmas Day.

ohfook · 21/10/2023 06:50

Nothing yet because my absolute favourite thing to do is the December food shop. Easily the best food shop of the year (yes I know I need to get a life!)

Also I'm a greedy fucker married to a greedy fucker who has created a small army of them. Anything I buy now would be lucky to make it to Halloween!

Beargrumps22 · 21/10/2023 07:53

being vegan I don't have Christmas dinner but last few years we have eaten out so my partner can have a festive feast being just us 2 it's never been much of a Christmas as we see the grandkids beforehand to distribute presents.
however, we have hired our fave chalet and are having Christmas at the seaside so I have to get lots of goodies to take; no cooking just lots of munchie so I am planning on watching all the food bargains on Mumsnet to squirrel away to take with us

PumpkinSpicedTea · 21/10/2023 09:34

4 chocolate oranges 😂

didistutter56 · 21/10/2023 09:38

I barely manage to buy Christmas food and keep it for the actual day the week before, so there’s no chance in October! It would be bought and promptly eaten 😂

HoneyButterPopcorn · 21/10/2023 09:40

I’m waiting for Costco to get their Panetonne in. Yum.

Honestly, I would have thought the same of myself, but the joy of opening the Christmas cupboard and seeing that I already have done that work makes it easy not to spoil it.

It used to be a mini bottle but I have upgraded to a half this year. We're at my in laws on Christmas Day and I'm not sure how it would look if I turned up with my half drunk bottle (plus I don't want to share it!!)

WeirdPookah · 21/10/2023 10:25

Lemon curd for on waffles with blueberries!

I haven't done much more than some gift foods, like stocking fillers, and some food snacks for pet presents!

@HoneyButterPopcorn I can't remember when it's normally in, I am surprised it isn't yet. Good to know it's not, as it's quite a trek for us to get to ours and wouldn't want to go if I couldn't get one!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/10/2023 10:28

Small freezer so not much.
Streaky bacon in the freezer for making pigs in blankets.
Dried fruit etc. for mincemeat (made).
And a bottle of Bishop’s Finger ale for the Christmas puddings that I shall make next week with Gdcs. 🙂🎄

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!! That is all 🌲🌲🌲

Moonblue87 · 21/10/2023 10:52

Yep totally agree it would all be scoffed in our house too

guffaux · 21/10/2023 11:06

Only bought stuff I usually get when the offers have been on, so far,all from Ocado,
6 bottles of Cremant (25% off )
1 bottle Advocaat (2.00 off)
1 bottle Fino ( 2.00 off)
4 boxes Bendick bitter mints (reduced from 10 to 7.50 )
2 tubs m&s salted mixed nuts

uninspired by food to order stuff this year, so bought a seafood platter and a large cooked lobster from The Fishermans Catch (Magpie at Whitby) to try- OMG- fantastic! easily comparable prices as M&S or Booths but much better content and more of it- lasted us 3 days of indulgence, so will be ordering again for Christmas

Maybe it’s easier for us because we are only two (supposed) adults in the household.

clpsmum · 21/10/2023 11:51

I've ordered the dinner from marks that's about it!

nettie434 · 21/10/2023 12:25

@Colinswheels 😄Yes I can see why turning up at your in laws with a half drunk bottle of champagne might not be the best idea. Good decision to get a half bottle. A mini isn't quite enough - although the ones they serve on planes are a nice idea. I don't think I've ever had the real thing on a plane though.

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 27/10/2023 23:40

@Colinswheels i enjoyed my first reading of your comment, which had me wondering why anyone would drink a jar of goose fat 😂

longtompot · 28/10/2023 00:10

6 bottle of a very nice white wine we've just discovered with 25% off and two bottles of a good red to add to our three I have saved all year
A box of dairy free chocolates
A pack of pistachios which were on offer plus an extra pack to go in ds's stocking

Snoeberry · 28/10/2023 00:22

Dates, warninks advocaat, tinned salmon, pickled beetroot , and I've made my Xmas pudding and my bread sauce.

Yes, a goose fat chaser is one of the less observed Christmas traditions 😂

Eukanuba · 28/10/2023 09:55

Pick and mix Quality street from JL
M and s merry munch/ jelly munch tins
M and s cranberry/ clementine bucks fizz

Rockfordpeach · 28/10/2023 10:18

I get that some posters are a bit snarky about buying Christmas food in October but I have to add a few extras to my weekly shop every week otherwise I can't afford it. Mainly so far I've bought:
Cranberry and apple sauce
Meat stuffing in the freezer
X2 paxo stuffing
Chocolate fingers
White chocolate fingers
Salted caramel chocolate fingers
Tunnocks teacakes
Quality street
Some frozen party food
