@DogsAreAGirlsBestFriend

Primark now do click and collect on some womenswear as well as the children's. Easy to do and has never been a que when I have used it you can also buy what you've seen in store and avoid the massive ques. You can also check stock for your local stores this may help so you don't have a wasted trip.

If anyone is looking for the meta quest it's £100 off the 128gb and £150 off the 256gb at very.

thetimeisnow · 26/09/2023 20:03

Can anyone remember the large food/grocery advent calendar last year?

I've looked back at my emails, but I can't find where I got it from.

RicherThanYews · 26/09/2023 20:10

@thetimeisnow it was Degusta if its the one I'm thinking of. Personally thought it was awful, haven't used the salt yet 😂

thetimeisnow · 26/09/2023 20:12

Well remembered!
Thank you.

It was strangely exciting, seeing what random things we'd get each day!
I use the salt, had actually forgotten that was where it came from!

I've been taken in by the marble run talk, I've seen vtech and galt recommend on here - is there an actual one which anyone can recommend? DS is turning 7 at christmas and he's never had one but I think he could get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Trying to cut down on the unnecessary gifts this year. He's probably getting a nintendo switch for his birthday so something he can physically play with too will be great!

FastBlueHedgehog · 26/09/2023 20:17

To those asking about what to put in advent calendars - Just a suggestion but I did a Christmas themed quiz question everyday in my kids advent calendars. I put a chocolate coin or similar in with each one as well. Way cheaper than buying little things and my kids loved it. They are both older teens now and still expect me to do it. List year I did Spotify codes for Christmas songs and we had a song a day instead.

I bought my grandson the starter set of Gravitrax for his 7th birthday a couple of weeks ago and both he and his 12 year old brother have already requested add on sets for Christmas. It’s the longest I’ve seen them off screens all year! It was recommended on here - I paid about £25 on Amazon about 6 months ago but there’s lots on eBay.

@Beckafett id also highly recommend this company for book subscriptions

they do very good condition used books as well so also eco friendly!

Mojodojocasahaus · 26/09/2023 20:32

We’ve had a cheapish plastic marble run from Argos, the gravitrax and the v tech one and the v tech is the best I would say - most longevity.

DS is nearly 8 and it comes out all of the time. It’s always a big hit on play dates With the V tech you can follow the instructions or make your own run. The expansion packs are also cheaper than gravitrax.

I bought the gravitrax starter pack for £60 whereas I got two v tech sets for £55

On similar lines, I did a Christmas joke one. It lasted years. They liked remembering the cheesy ones.

Ginny26 · 26/09/2023 20:34

Thank you so much! I'm sold, I'm so excited to see him play with this, I think I'll enjoy it too 😂

PlanBea · 26/09/2023 20:39

@WhereIsThisGoing I think my DS might be a little too young at 2.5 but I'll keep an eye out in the sales for next year as I think he'll love it!

Brilliant idea- could also do a riddle too (my son is obsessed with riddles and obscure facts).

My DDs and I are still all grossed out by the gravy mayonnaise from that advent calendar! The snacks in it were the biggest let down for me…. Think I’ll go back to buying a 24 pub pack of Bacon Fries!

Qwerty21 · 26/09/2023 19:11

Mine came too. Went for the one in the blue oven, baked I think. Looking forward to Xmas to play with it haha.

Thank you both for giving your opinion on the cookeez. I ordered Sunday evening when we were chatting on here about them but I’ve not had anything except a confirmation email from Smyths yet. I hope they turn up soon and aren’t left outside in the storm the next couple of days.

OneFamily · 26/09/2023 21:13

Does anyone remember how much the smiggle advent calendar goes down to at all please?

Spaghettihulahoops · 26/09/2023 21:17

We had a second hand galt marble run that got lots of play when the dc were younger. I bought the gravitrax starter set when it was on offer on a previous thread but it proved too fiddly.
Smiggle advent goes on half price but I wouldn’t bother, lots of it is very gimmicky and obviously all branded ie snap band

choccychocchoc · 26/09/2023 21:43

Can anyone recommend a good bull buy bath bomb bargain? Both kids love them and want to use one each, so more of a quantity over quality type thing.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 26/09/2023 22:08

Many thanks to whoever posted about the Look Fantastic body sprays and hair stuff yesterday. I ordered at 10pm last night and they were here by 4pm today despite me not selecting next day delivery. That's unheard of for where we live so I'm very very impressed!

I think the cheapest I saw it last year was £15.

Callmesleepy · 26/09/2023 22:29

@Dreamingofwalden that looks ideal! Wondering if I can justify getting sweatshirts with "all for one and one for all" for my musketeers. How do you find the adult sizing (d'artagnan needs one too)?

@choccychocchoc we are all about the lush giant rainbow bath bombs. A little chunk a day and it lasts weeks. Bombshell are recommended on here a lot too and they're good but messier clean up.

lancslass17 · 26/09/2023 22:32

My 5 year old has just asked for an alarm clock, any recommendations, easy to use and a nice alarm rather than shock.
