Christmas Bargain Thread 1 - the one where my dad is 17

Reastie · 07/09/2023 16:09

Thanks @snowmanshoes for the title!

Hello everyone, so nice to see you all. Pull up a chair, have a mince pie and a peppermint latte and share your Christmas bargains and ideas. In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

A massive thank you to those who have contributed and/or run the prequel threads this year. I can't believe it's another year! I started these when DD was a baby and she's just gone into Year 8!

@Nightsku
Where do you buy the camera film from?

Amazon, eBay.

To be fair…. She only used it a few times before she got bored of it so Iv never bought tons of film.

Amimaimia · 13/09/2023 12:08

Productive morning! Bought glossyboxes (men’s grooming for DP, one for my DM and two mystery for me!)

Also ordered the free Gruum for DD.

Annnnnd ordered a fossil bag for DM and one for my own Christmas present!

Saved a fortune this morning (over £300!!) so thank you all!

p.s. if anyone is struggling with the fossil website, I downloaded the chrome app and bought on that with no problems.

UrbanMage · 13/09/2023 12:18

Oooh, I’ve had a few Bloom bits in the past but that’s just sorted my Sister’s 30th birthday present off DD, so thanks for the heads up @CandyCaneLane0

MadeForThis · 13/09/2023 12:23

What's the glossy box offer?

MaMaMaBelle · 13/09/2023 12:23

That's the one thank you @ColeslawSandwich ,I was looking in the Christmas topic
Thanks everyone else too x

mummydoris2006 · 13/09/2023 12:25

Started following these threads last year and although I didn't buy anything I loved reading the threads as it made me feel all Christmassy 🎄.

I have a DD17 who is very country and I usually buy niche brands for her or horsey stuff but she is an apprentice agricultural engineer so is covered in muck and oil all day, mending combine harvesters and tractors so she's really into her skincare products. Because of this thread I now have 4 glossybox mystery boxes on the way, wild deodorant refills and drunk elephant skincare on the way. Thanks so much @Soscrewed , @imnottoofussed and @Famousthehero for your codes and links 😊

Nightsku · 13/09/2023 12:27

Glossy boxes are a good deal but Iv bought a few through the year and it will probably be the same stuff so I won’t get one this time.

Need to cut down the amount of ‘extra’ bits I buy that never gets used in this house 🎁

@MaMaMaBelle here's the link to the Boots Macmillan Advent Calendar you asked for.

Has anyone seen or worked out the 'value' of this based on the items included? Can't think of anyone who would love it except meeee, so looking for a reason to buy or walk away..

dramalamma · 13/09/2023 12:32

After checkout on the Grumm offer I got offered to choose two vouchers - there was one for beer52 on there and this one where you get a free pair of boxers - it is a subscription so don't forget to cancel but looks like a good option for a husband stocking filler!

onthatass.com/en-gb/

And then when I finished that one it offered me another Grumm deal with a unique voucher for trio of cleansing bars for £3.95 delivery so watch out for that option too! The deal that just keeps on giving!

When I work out the value I only add up the cost of the items that I would really like to have if that makes sense. And that’s the cost you can buy the items for, not the RRP they give. So I’m not going to include the value of eyeliners, nail polishes, tools, hair products when I work out if they’re good value for me as I’m not interested in those. I haven’t bought one for the past couple of years since doing this - I’d rather spend the money on items that I know I love, or really want to try.

Krawnprackers · 13/09/2023 12:42

Also popped on to say the marshmallow kits are FAB! Really impressed. Vegan marshmallows BBE 28 nov but regular ones are March 24.

Beckafett · 13/09/2023 09:54

Ooh these look good, are they for a certain hair type?

No I don’t think so - I bought one when she first grew her hair long to brush it when it was wet. She’s used them ever since

CamdenLurker · 13/09/2023 13:00

did you get a good deal on the Drunk Elephant stuff? I’m looking for a bargain for dd18.

hby9628 · 13/09/2023 13:23

Someone's posted on a Facebook page pics of the 4 glossy box contents. It was enough to persuade me I needed one of each. I didn't want to post pics incase anyone is keeping it as a surprise for themselves but if anyone is interested they are on this page

@ZIGGY911 Babipur do lovely eco friendly sticky tape with different seasonal patterns on. I've used it a few times at Xmas, and even on parcels I've posted and it's always stuck well. They usually have a 10% off code floating around too.

NauseousNancy · 13/09/2023 13:42

Claire’s have a 40% sale off just now, plus if you sign up to their rewards programme you get a further 20% off, including on sale items.

Delahot · 13/09/2023 13:54

Any ideas for a sushi fan please? Any kits, utensils or ingredients? Best cookbook?

evtheria · 13/09/2023 14:02

@hby9628 Where is the post showing box contents, please? I've managed to join the group but the 2 glossy box posts I've read don't show what's in them.

IsabelaYourBoyfriendsHere · 13/09/2023 14:07

Magic Mixies Pixlings dolls are down to £16.66 on Amazon, usually £20-£25 everywhere else. I've been checking multiple websites for these every night and this is the cheapest I've seen them (my 6-year-old has been eyeing them up!)

I'm chuffed, been keeping an eye on these for ages! 🙌🏻
