Anyone else want to keep their Christmas tree up?

I really don't want to take my tree down this year. We have two up and they both look so lovely and feel like they haven't been up long enough (even though we put them up on 1st December!)

Lots of our neighbours have taken their trees and lights down now but I'm holding out for one more day and will do it tomorrow... 🥺

Me too! Just thinking how horrible it will be when it comes down. Love all the lights and sparkles and the cosy feel it gives the house

Violetparis · 31/12/2022 13:17

Leave some fairy lights up, I have them round my mantlepiece all year and I love them.

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 31/12/2022 13:18

Mine will be up until 12th night.

AuntieStella · 31/12/2022 13:21

Taking it down now seems early to me - I keep mine up until after Twelfth Night (I don't like to cut a 12 day feast short)

Or you could be a bit old fashioned and keep them up until Candlemas (2 Feb)

I know but with going back to work/school on Tuesday it does make sense to strip the house tomorrow. I shall be leaving an abundance of fairy lights up though! ✨️

We keep it up ‘til 12th Night, always.

If I want clear surfaces/less decorative clutter about, I put the other decorations away. But the tree stays up!

Bugbuggerit · 31/12/2022 13:41

Our tree didn’t go up until the 18th and still looking pretty and very few needles dropped…so staying up until end of next week.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 31/12/2022 13:41

I kept the outdoor lights up until candlemas in the second year of lockdown. Everything felt so gloomy and I felt the world needed the cheer. The tree wouldn’t have lasted, so it came down on 12th night as usual.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 31/12/2022 13:45

Mine only came down 'some time in spring' and I don't see it being any different next year Grin

Eightypercent · 31/12/2022 13:52

We've had our twinkle lights up in the lounge for three years now!

junipermarten · 31/12/2022 13:55

I took mine down on the 27th which is so unlike me. Everything else is still up but the tree was fucking me off. We recently moved and it's far too big for the living room, we had to move a large chair to the middle of the room, which I kept walking into or tripping over. I had had enough of the rage and it's LOVELY having so much SPACE again.

SpinningFloppa · 31/12/2022 13:56

Not taking mine down yet

User359472111111 · 31/12/2022 13:56

Why on Earth would you take it down? There’s almost another full week of Christmas.

SpringIntoChaos · 31/12/2022 13:57

Nope! Mine was down on Boxing Day 🤣

AuntieMarys · 31/12/2022 13:58

Mine came down yesterday. House is full of fresh flowers.

Mine came down yesterday. House is full of fresh flowers.

That sounds lovely 😍

PurpleButterflyWings · 31/12/2022 14:16

NO. Smile But I will very likely leave a few fairy lights up - in the windows - til Candlemas. 🕯It's still Winter after all, right up to 28th Feb! ⛄

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 31/12/2022 14:17

We are planning on starting to take ours down, 2 big ones and the DCs little ones in their room. I’m only doing because we need the room for DCs to set up and enjoy their main Christmas presents properly.

timtam23 · 31/12/2022 14:20

I don't want to take mine down, so many if the decorations are handmade and/or have a lot of sentimental value, and I love the lights in the evenings. We have a Nativity set that came from DH's family and every year I honestly look forward so much to seeing it again at Christmas...I don't want to pack it away. But I'll probably take everything down on Tuesday as once the DCs go back to school we need the downstairs furniture back to its pre-Christmas arrangement!

pompomdaisy · 31/12/2022 14:21

Definitely not. I was just looking at it wondering if I can take it down today. There's a cabinet I've got my eye on that I want in that place and I'm already picturing it in place.

Mojoj · 31/12/2022 14:22

Hogmanay is tonight!! No way my tree is coming down until I've seen in 2023 with a bang!

Suedomin · 31/12/2022 14:22

Leave it up until 12th night. It certainly makes no sense to take it down before 2 Jan. We are still in the Christmas period

stargirl1701 · 31/12/2022 14:25

It's very traditional to keep it up until Candlemas in February, OP. Christmas only got shortened so the poor got back to work in the factories!

NoNamesLeft234678 · 31/12/2022 14:29

You're not supposed to take them down before the 5th or 6th 😝

SkylightSkylight · 31/12/2022 14:30

@MrsJBaptiste you're choosing to take it down, your choice. Mine is staying out until I choose to take it down.

so what that you're back at work, it won't hold house parties when you're not in.
