Liked:
Morrisons turkey joint with stuffing - very nice and the right amount
Tesco veg - all fine

Disliked:
Tesco finest Belgian chocolate log - sweet and dry
Tesco finest small Christmas pudding - too many nuts
Tesco pate with apple chutney - nothing special
Tesco party food eg sausage rolls, spring rolls - very basic, wouldn’t buy again

Tesco mini kievs just didn’t like them hardly any filling in them compared to Bernard Mathew ones.

wesayno · 26/12/2022 18:25

M&S Stuffed Vegan Turkey Joint was a big hit

Figgypudding123 · 26/12/2022 18:32

Tesco Brussels Pate - absolutely tasteless

Walker shortbread selection - tastes fine but another disappointing example of shrinkage. What has happened to petticoat tails - they used to be substantial? The ones we bought were barely bigger that a Jaffa Cake (Weeps)

On the plus side, the big wins were:

Tunnock's snowballs - every bit as good as I remember as a child

Hotel chocolat - dessert selection chocs. Have abandoned Quality Street for good. Would rather have fewer, better quality chocs.

Old school King Edwards potatoes. After several years of disappointing pre-prepared spuds. Went old school. Par-boiled and bashed the buggery out of them. nabbed some rosemary from the garden - they were bloody lush!

whatausername · 26/12/2022 18:39

Aunt Bessie's parsnips - terrible
M&S chocolate mini cupcake things - one bite and I binned the rest of my cupcake, tasted very unpleasant and the texture of the chocolate was gluey

QforCucumber · 26/12/2022 18:40

Tesco bread sauce - absolutely tasteless and a horrible texture

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 26/12/2022 18:41

M&S turkey crown, really tough and crazy expensive

Melon9 · 26/12/2022 18:43

Tesco Finest passionfruit mini roulade, they were a random substitute for something in my online shop but everyone loved them.

Morrisons mini mince pies, great pastry for a supermarket pie.

whoruntheworldgirls · 26/12/2022 18:45

Loved asda gingerbread pudding with butterscotch sauce

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 26/12/2022 18:47

M and s berry delice.... lovely. Exactly what I was after, light but creamy etc.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 26/12/2022 18:48

Audrey's chocolates often spoken of on here but years ago. I finally went for it.

Absolutely wonderful.

They will be my new yearly Xmas treat.

Ohnotheydidnt · 26/12/2022 18:48

Sainsburys vegan sausage rolls - blergh to the max (I usually love them!!) They were gross this time around.

Schloer - White Grape and Apple: Tasteless :(

TheMildManneredMilitant · 26/12/2022 18:53

Sainsburys pigs in blankets were horrible, the sausage tasted like mush

Giggorata · 26/12/2022 18:56

Mini soufflés party food from Lidl, light and cheesy. A great hit with friends on Xmas Eve.

TheDogsMother · 26/12/2022 18:58

Loved Lidl Strong and Robust Smoked Salmon compared to Sainsbury's Oak Smoked.

MamaNewtNewt · 26/12/2022 19:01

M and S Brie, Caramelised Onion and Potato Pie was our main as we are vegetarian. I was so looking forward to it, but it was just ok. When I pay £8 for a pie I want a lot more flavour, I think it needed a stronger cheese to make it work.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 26/12/2022 19:03

M&S frozen red cabbage was fabulous.

twistyizzy · 26/12/2022 19:07

Hits: As always loved M+S red cabbage
M+S vegan sides collection. Fussy veggie DD loved the cocktail sausages and Cauliflower bake
M+S red Berry Delice was a substitute but everyone loved it

Misses: M+S dauphinoise potatoes have changed recipe and not as good although more expensive
Tesco topside beef joint. A panic buy by DH and a reminder of why we don't usually buy supermarket meat

Loved asda gingerbread pudding with butterscotch sauce

Sound delicious!

triplechoc · 26/12/2022 19:14

Hits - Costco turkey breast joint and gammon joint, both excellent. Lidl red cabbage was very nice, not vinegary at all.

Miss - Lidl Christmas pudding was a bit meh, but I didn’t get the deluxe one so maybe my own fault. Quality Street - far too many toffees, even more than usual!

whoruntheworldgirls · 26/12/2022 19:16

@lmnabc really was! Lovely light sponge too, want another but it's now showing unavailable 😭

bilbodog · 26/12/2022 19:18

Waitrose porchetta was delicious.

Yeah, you have to buy good chipolatas and bacon and assemble them yourself, it’s not hard though.

Sainsburys pigs in blankets were horrible, the sausage tasted like mush

Agreed. Even my dustbin of a toddler wouldn’t eat them.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 26/12/2022 19:26

@TheMildManneredMilitant

Small pig's or longer ones?

We had the longer one's and they're fine but I do prefer m and s posher gourmet one's to be honest...and stuffing parcels

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 26/12/2022 19:27

Sainsburys cheddar cheese stars were a hit.
