Liked:
Morrisons turkey joint with stuffing - very nice and the right amount
Tesco veg - all fine

Disliked:
Tesco finest Belgian chocolate log - sweet and dry
Tesco finest small Christmas pudding - too many nuts
Tesco pate with apple chutney - nothing special
Tesco party food eg sausage rolls, spring rolls - very basic, wouldn’t buy again

Loved Aldi's duck breast joint with two confit legs in a plum sauce. Fantastic! Hated Aldi's cod loin wrapped in bacon - came out of the oven half raw, despite carefully following the very complex cooking instructions. When I finally got it cooked through, the consistency was like chewy cotton wool and it was absolutely tasteless.

I think I was incredibly lucky as we've had no misses at all this year - well, except Co-op bakery mince pies which were undercooked and rank.

We had a Waitrose Entertaining leg of lamb instead of a turkey this year which was just amazing - and it helped that OH cooked the dinner this year!

We have so many goodies left, I went a bit mad on getting really "naice" chocolates and cheese and other lovely bits, we're well served for feasting until Twelfth Night!

Hit:
Aldi Specially Selected Root Vegetable and Camembert Nut Roast (2 in box) I was a bit Hmm while they were cooking but they were delicious . I have another pack in the freezer , they'll be eaten with salad and mango chutney

Miss: Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendars (milk chocolate) DD and DS didn't finish them . I bought the Elf Stockings too , DS scoffed his , DD said it was taste-free.

Todays Miss - Tesco Finest Stem Ginger Tiffin Cracker

3 of us tried it. The ginger was so strong we all spat it out into kitchen roll napkins and said "what the fuck is that!". It went straight in the bin.

Absolutely loved Aldi smoked salmon with Prosecco & orange - really beautiful. Gutted I couldn’t get anymore.
Quite disappointed with Brie ( from Asda).

hit:

Beautiful and easy Waitrose slow cooked Turkey crown.

sainsburys TTD sticky toffee pudding

M&S Brie and potato pie

miss:

my usual marmalade glazed ham from Sainsbury’s TTD was horribly dry and tough.

Waitrose cauli cheese - fluffy/soggy and not enough cauli to sauce.

Aunt Bessie's frozen parsnips - yuck. Sainsbury's sprouts and carrots - rotting by the 25th. Moser Roth cocoa dusted truffles - delicious.

Hits:
Waitrose fresh turkey
Waitrose gravadlax slices (on deal Christmas eve, otherwise too expensive)
Waitrose gravadlax sauce (in a jar, better than the little pack that comes with it)
Tesco Finest Christmas cake (the smaller slab/slice)
M&S mincemeat with clementine
Co-Op roster potatoes
Tesco Finest chilled tempura prawns from the party food range (kids loved these)

Misses:
M&S Garlic bread dough balls Christmas tree - not enough garlic or cheese
M&S Christmas cake (the slab) - Tesco was way better

On the fence:
M&S sparkling log (chocolate cake) got it half price and it did look incredible, DD loved it but the rest of us thought dry and m-eh.
