Morning (just)!

I failed at eating yesterday which meant I got blotto far too early and wasn't well. Oops! 🙈

But we had a great time anyway and I avoided having to tidy up!

Countdown to next year is go go go! 🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻

Ah Wreck I hope it's something straight forward (and cheap) to sort!

Hi lucysmam 👋 I don't think we've spoken but I've seen you on some crafty chats and the poncetastic one.
This thread may well be a bad influence on you - it is on me!

We're still away but it hasn't stopped me starting on next year - 2 large Christmas ornaments and a small bauble so far. I think I have issues with hoarding collecting decorations Xmas Blush

Still enjoying the cold weather and the cosy Christmas feeling here. If I wasn't missing ddog I'm not sure I'd want to come home tbh.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/12/2022 18:10

I have that same issue with decorations, Crazy! Xmas Blush

I’m enjoying my fairy lights by the tv they’ll be on for six months 0f the year while the nights are darker.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/12/2022 18:21

I have finished work till Tuesday (hoorah) plan tomorrow to wander to supermarket and get the NYE/NYD food and trip to Ikea (DD says she'll go with me so you don't buy the whole shop Cheeky Madam )
Might treat her to a bag of Mini Daim if she's been good all year !

ConstantlyCooking · 29/12/2022 20:27

How long did your viruses last Fluffy? I've stopped shivering and feeling sick but my throat is v sore Sad
(Waves at Chips and welcome to all those joining the countdown!)
I have done some shopping online but haven't left the house since Christmas Day!

Blessedbethefruitz · 29/12/2022 21:15

Signing on for the year! Still recovering from my first ever agonising sinus infection that was sprung on me on Xmas eve - I've managed baby 2's first Xmas with no pics whatsoever, although to be fair both kids still have tonsillitis following strep a - I've got some lovely wrapping paper from smiths (finally killed off my backlog of hoarded paper this year) and a mario mushroom nightlight for ds from boots.

Have promised ds a very outing Xmas tree scheme for next year which requires about 120 hours of crochet - too much rum one evening lol. Good luck me...

NoWordForFluffy · 29/12/2022 21:57

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Constantly, but they're still going in one form or another. DH is mostly OK now, 11 or so days in. The kids must be going from one bug to another as they're still snotty, although they're not coughing as much now. They've been unwell for a few weeks now. 🙄

Taking DD to Primark tomorrow 🤯 I'm going to pop into a few other places too, to see if I can get her stocking fillers for next year and if I'm really organised, I can wrap them up and put them in the loft!

Might see what's left in M & S as well.

Good job I've got lots of gin, I might need it tomorrow afternoon

been out to work for a couple of hours and now building my Lego Disney castle - just the little 50th anniversary one, whilst drinking through my whittards Christmas tea bags.
hope everyone else is having a nice day

Only managed to get a couple of gifts for next year - Very little in the M&S and Superdrug I went in.

Have got to go to Sainsburys tomorrow so will see what they've got left!

WreckTangled · 30/12/2022 20:22

I swear the shelters were bare of Christmas stuff by the 23rd this year.

I’ve had a productive day - I managed to get the first draft of my essay finished, went and collected the smart card for DD’s termly bus pass (🤮 at the cost) and got two loads of washing done. Oh and the dishwasher is finally in, worst six weeks of my life 😂

Not sure what time the mechanic is coming tomorrow but I’ll need to make sure I’m up and ready as Dh is working. No idea when we will go food shopping I guess when Dh gets home tomorrow, I have no car and nowhere will be open Sunday. That reminds me I need to get the mince out of the freezer…

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/12/2022 20:59

Went to Ikea today (very busy) they had some Christmas stock on reduced and stacks of Orange Daim , not to DD taste but they had some Original ones so peace on earth reigns . I got the dishes I wanted and only took a baskets at DD insistance so I wouldn't buy too much .

Went food shopping and deliberately swerved the Sale Aisle so as not to be tempted (but I do need a new kettle ........)

Plan to get all the washing done today/tomorrow , I don't do washing on New Years Day as its unlucky (superstitious nonsense I know Xmas Blush )

Room4onemore · 30/12/2022 21:32

Hi can I join please, I have a lot of birthdays the beginning of the year but I’ll be trying to do some Christmas shopping as well. Christmas is my favourite and I’m told by DH that I always go overboard so I try to reign it in, but fail every year lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/12/2022 23:00

I ordered a cardi in the M&S Sale ( rock'n'roll me ) but online , I couldn't face the physical shops at the moment .

Also saw a bracelet that my DD had been hankering after for ages so when I measured her tiny wrist she was on it .
"Why are you measuring my wrist ? Is this for my birthday , that's not for 6 months"

It can be a Late Christmas as we didn't buy her much .She changed her mind about buying the jeans .

Morning!

Stupid day yesterday: 10.5 hours at my desk with no break. And still not properly caught up. One day.,.

We're off to see a puppy today. I think! We all really want one, but they're a big commitment. I'm sure it will be fine though!

Off to work this morning, then my daughter and son in law are coming round to have a buffet tea. I had to make a second lot of custard for the trifle this morning as my first lot did not set which is annoying.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2022 06:30

Bit early to be on custard detail, Why!

Think we may need to get a boat: we were woken by the rain overnight and it's still going. Soggy.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 31/12/2022 07:27

Morning. We’ve got a weather warning for rain and 50mph gusts forecast so dh isn’t working today now.

A puppy?! So jealous! We’d love a poppy but are out of the house for too long each day and can’t afford the insurance etc. what sort of puppy?

I haven’t been able to go to the gym since Boxing Day due to the car being broken. So annoying. I’m going to really hurt when I go back.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2022 07:32

Black Labrador, Wreck.

I'm here all day, so it would work for us in that respect.

Pet insurance looks rather complicated what with how much cover you want and how much you'd pay per year. I just want a reliable insurer who doesn't try to wriggle out of every claim! But don't want to be under-insured either. I need to do more research.

Our forecast is now wet almost all day. Annoying as we did washing on the basis of it being dry from 8am, which it said last night!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 31/12/2022 07:53

I grew up with black labs they’re so lovely. I know my dad stopped paying his dog insurance and putting he money aside instead as it was so expensive and then when she got bitten by an adder and they wanted her to stay overnight the insurance wouldn’t cover it. He can afford a big vet bill if needed though so is taking the risk. I’m hoping in the future if I change jobs and am home more we could get one but I guess it all depends. I think it would be good for ds.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2022 08:19

Yes, we think it would be good for DS too, which is the motivation for it.

But we're just a bit unsure as to whether now is a good time or not. It's such a huge commitment that we don't want to get it wrong! Need to decide soon though.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2022 08:36

Oh, and just spotted that some of the autism dogs charities have reopened applications too. I'm going to apply and see if we can get an official assistance dog.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 31/12/2022 08:43

That’s a good idea! Are they recognised as assistant dogs here legally? I was looking up emotional support dogs but apparently that’s only a thing in America 😅 otherwise I could try and wangle one as a hypo alert dog 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2022 09:13

Yes, they're official assistance dogs, so you can take them everywhere.

I think I'd prefer to at least apply and suss that out before committing to a puppy.

TribeD · 31/12/2022 09:20

@NoWordForFluffy we adopted our dog at the end of the summer and the change in DD is amazing (suspected ADHD). She's so much calmer since daftdog arrived.

DDog is a superstar and we love him to bits
