Weirdest thing you've wrapped up for your kids?

Or anyone really I suppose!

I've just wrapped up a massive (800g I think) bottle of Heinz ketchup for my kid! We've had to cut costs recently and have been trying various own brands (of which none come close to the real thing so far, according to DS) so I thought I'd treat him for Xmas. Don't worry he has some proper gifts too 😂

What's the oddest thing you've found yourself wrapping up?

A bottle of salad cream and a packet of cream crackers for DD when she was 4 from Father Christmas.

It was all she wanted and repeatedly asked for - she did get other stuff but was so happy with her salad cream and crackers

AnneShirleysNewDress · 22/12/2022 20:58

Giant bag of Walkers salt & vinegar for DD1

Cas112 · 22/12/2022 21:00

A coconut for DS (who'll be 15 in Feb...)

SeaToSki · 22/12/2022 21:02

Spicy niknaks for DH

A knitted santa toilet roll cover thingy for DS. He always wants ketchup with his dinner and I hate the look of the bottle on the table, so it was a festive compromise. It still sits on the ketchup bottle in the fridge many years later, its called the ‘modesty cover’ 🤣. It does mean we always have to buy the ketchups that open from the bottom though!

A lump of coal.
My then teenage children had been arguing the night before Christmas and I warned them that Santa would put coal in their stocking. Their younger sibling still believed and hoped they'd be punished. On Christmas morning there was much shock and hilarity when the teenagers each unwrapped lumps of coal from their stockings.
They still talk about it years later.

Bag of sand. It was fun watching him him unwrap it in the living room of the friends who have gone out of favour.

Yeah, I'm a dick :)

Skiingmama · 22/12/2022 21:07

Not for Christmas, but when my cousin got engaged I sent her two loaves of bread as a present from the bakery in my town that she loves. Had to send to her work and I don’t think her colleagues understood her excitement!! 😂

Shoehorn (for a perfectly able-bodied 5 year old)

Mine absolutely loves a shoe horn! Won one in a Christmas cracker last year and it was suggested by the adults at the table that he wouldn't even know what it was...

Also some blutac... apparently its "satisfying"

Now you know why we call him Nigel.

Craftybodger · 22/12/2022 21:09

Both by request, different years - blutak and a feather mattress topper, “Just like Mummy’s!”

Packet of instant mash for my (adult) brother. He loves it.

Notanotherone6 · 22/12/2022 21:14

Packs of tissues.

My 12 year old daughter has asked for a (fancy) coat hanger this year. She isn't getting one, at least not for Christmas.

bigbluebus · 22/12/2022 21:19

DS had a very big jar of pickled eggs last year.

Wetblanket78 · 22/12/2022 21:23

Not for my own kids but for my neice. Some different flavours of hot chocolates from tk maxx. She chose it herself that's what she wanted. She's obsessed with the place.

Fluffygoon · 22/12/2022 21:28

Allergictoironing · 22/12/2022 21:31

For a friend - a snow shovel. We used them for mucking out woodchip bedding at the stables. Also a giant box of salt & vinegar crisps, with a large bottle of salad cream on top (same friend).

Shekissedagirlandshelikedit · 22/12/2022 21:34

When dc were little I used to get them the packs of kelloggs mini variety cereal boxes. They thought they were an amazing treat and they looked impressive wrapped up 🙂

StClare101 · 22/12/2022 21:34

A box of tissues for our 18 month old many years back. He loved taking them out one by one.

BrutusMcDogface · 22/12/2022 21:36

My kids would give anything for their own packets of blu tac! I know what I’m getting in the next couple of days! 😂

LemonDrizzles · 22/12/2022 21:37

A water bottle
