Hope your dd feels better soon wreck! And yay for almost being off!

I get chilblains too, makes me feel very Victorian 😂

WreckTangled · 15/12/2022 07:55

I know, some of my younger colleagues have never heard of them, makes me feel like an old lady 😅

CrazyBaubles · 15/12/2022 21:20

Merry drunken check in from me. Just leaving a lovely catch up with one of my oldest friends. After the recent stress this was exactly what I needed and I enjoyed every second.
Makes up slightly for the get together I'm going to have to miss tomorrow because the train strikes mean all trains have been cancelled here. Don't blame them for striking tbh but still a bit gutted.

I got the last bits of Christmas stuff needed before I left today (mostly beers for a few people). So that's it. Only things left to do are craft related now Xmas Smile

Also (and I haven't told DH yet), I popped into the Christmas factory shop as it's closing for the year on the weekend. Found out when I went to pay that everything is half price so I went back around. Didn't buy much but picked up a nice snow globes (big got me, small for niece and nephew), some wooden ornaments (very scandi), outside lights for next year with the giant bulbs and what could be the start of a Christmas village Xmas Blush
On the plus side, I didnt but the outside snowman or spiral tree I wanted so that's something...

CrazyBaubles · 15/12/2022 21:22

I had to google chillblains as I've only read about them - sorry.
They look and sound so painful, hope no one is suffering too badly

NoWordForFluffy · 15/12/2022 21:32

Do you think we get chilblains because we had them as kids and we're now susceptible? Or are we actually Victorian ladies?! 🤔🤣

We went to the pub for dinner (got Whammed!) and then to school for Christmas bingo. It was kind of fun. I suppose. Xmas Grin

It's the kids' last day tomorrow as we're taking them down to London on Monday to see the Christmas lights. They're missing 2 days, but post-Covid I can't bring myself to care! 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like you had a lovely day, Crazy.

8!!

I don’t find chilblains painful they’re just so itchy! I’ve had them on my finger before when I was in my late teens now I get them on my toe, I’m not sure I ever had them as a child.

It’s dd and ds’ last day today but dd is staying home as she’s still not feeling well. Ds finishes an hour early so I’ll pick him up then we will go to Costa. I have work this morning. Fluffy are you staying over? We’re going on Tuesday!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/12/2022 06:24

Morning!

Itchy here too, Wreck!

And yes, staying over. Probably driving back at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Lovely bingo party last but waited hour and a half for buses yesterday trying now not fight of a cold and cough so it duvet days from now and tomorrow.

WreckTangled · 17/12/2022 06:57

7 🥳🎄

Morning! Ds has woken up (too early) in a horrible mood. Joy. Dh is working. I need to do washing and uni work. Dull.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/12/2022 07:19

Morning. I have been awake for an hour which is annoying. I bet I won't want to wake up when I go to work tomorrow morning.

I have to do some wrapping and write a few cards, won't be doing many as my handwriting leaves alot to be desired with the poorly hands so it will be a select few I do.

I am out tomorrow for dinner as it is my birthday on Monday which I am looking forward to.

WreckTangled · 17/12/2022 07:44

We haven’t received any post for over two weeks now. Crazy. I’ve just registered with our water supplier. We have one company deal with waste and one supply which is really annoying as I bet it’ll be really expensive. Have had to open a complaint with Scottish power as I haven’t been able to speak to anyone to open an account with them. Honestly when did customer service get so dire?!

I need to wrap dh’s birthday presents today too.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/12/2022 08:52

Morning!

We seem to be lucky, as other than strike days, our post seems OK.

Customer service is pretty poor these days, Wreck.

I also have to wrap DH's presents. The kids need to choose how we're splitting them first. I'm waiting for one of his cards to appear, but hopefully that will be soon!

Morning (just) Xmas Grin
I'm multi-tasking doing a load of washing , baking some Chocolate Brownies and wearing an attractive TurbiTowel with some intensive hair treatment in.
Then once Saturday KItchen is finished , skin care and FaceMask will go on.
Trying to combine some Domestic Godess with some Style&Beauty Princessing

Going to London this evening , cold weather forecast so wrapping up wam !.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/12/2022 17:42

Tonight is Die Hard night! It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakatomi tower 😂 I've also started eating the Christmas cake.

Always4Brenner · 17/12/2022 17:53

On Her Majesties Secret Service 0n here. Love the Christmas bit especially.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/12/2022 18:09

We watched it a couple of weeks ago!

Not sure what tonight brings, other than Strictly. 💃 🕺

DH's half marathon is off tomorrow due to the weather, so no need for an early night now!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/12/2022 20:36

I am very rock and roll and going to bed, as I am by myself and going to work early tomorrow 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 18/12/2022 08:05

Where / when did we go wrong counting down?! It's 7 sleeps til Christmas today! Xmas Confused

Anyway, bit of a cleaning and sorting day today, and the kids' NZ cousins are coming over to play this morning.

We have a pre-Christmas dinner tonight at my inlaws' house and I'm going to a Carol service with my MiL this evening.

I don't really fancy the dinner, but will go along anyway. I'm making dinner in a couple of weeks' time for us all (bar two, one of whom has decide to do this meal and is cooking) and I only really have one big dinner a year in me, so mine just feels superfluous now. Sigh.

WreckTangled · 18/12/2022 08:22

Oh it was probably me 😅 I got rid of the app and if the countdown is on the previous page it can be a pain to scroll back.

its dh’s birthday today. We’re going to the cinema and for dinner with pil babysitting. Should be nice. Would be nicer if I had some money, hopefully dh is happy to buy his own dinner!

DreamingofItaly2023 · 18/12/2022 08:24

Morning all

Watched the strictly final last night and Home Alone the night before, will definitely watch Die Hard at some point too.

No plans today and the weather looks frightful so a quiet day I think.

DS has 4 days left at school so I need to deep clean the house, finalise the sainsburys delivery and wrap the final presents.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/12/2022 10:04

Morning - DD, DH and I went to :eicester Square yesterday to see "A Pisstmas Christmas" ( it was really funny , sort of along the lines of the "Goes Wriong" plays . Underground was busy because of the train strikes , Leicester Square was busy , lots of lights eyc.
Got home about 1.30 am.

So a quiet day here , some tidying , cooking , cleaning.
I watched some Christmas Food Channel , Micheal Roux cooking pork served with pigs trotters and crispy fried pigs ears -though as he says , it is not wasting any part of the animal . Even if I wasn't vegetarian, it'd still be a Hard No !

We've watched :
Lost Christmas
Last Christmas
Die Hard

I need to get the TV Times out now Xmas Grin

Always4Brenner · 18/12/2022 13:02

Yes Die Hard tonight I think.

CrazyBaubles · 18/12/2022 17:35

Happy Birthday MrTangled 🥳
What are you watching in the cinema?

I'm going to slide right passes the Die Hard is/isn't a Christmas film argument, I'm too tired Xmas Grin

I' will 100% be having an early night but before then I'll be changing the bedding and crocheting.

I've also realised I forgot to post here but last week I was looking after nephew and niece (4&5yo).
Niece, who usually loves coming here, was upset and wouldn't tell me why, just kept crying and saying she wanted to go home.
After explaining she couldn't yet and asking what was wrong a million times, it turns out she was very upset because she needed the loo but didn't want to use the snowman toilet roll. She told me - and I quote - "you can't wipe your bum on the snowman auntie Crazy, it's rude. And I love his dog, he wouldn't wipe his bum on me"
To calm her down I had to give her some plain tissue and promise I wouldn't use it either 😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 18/12/2022 19:26

Oh that's so sweet, Crazy!

I've stuck our washing out for a 3-4 hour window of no rain and high winds. Hopefully it'll be almost dry when we get it in. The weather has been awful for getting stuff dry.

At least it's warmer tomorrow.

I hope you enjoyed your meal, Wreck. Why, are you out tonight?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/12/2022 19:35

Crazy that’s so funny!

We saw violent night and ate at giggling squid. I had to tell a lady to be quiet in the cinema, she was driving me mad (the film hadn’t started but it was about to and I could hear everything she was saying!).

ds didn’t have a drink the whole time we were out as he was too shy to even nod when mil offered him one, he can speak to them when we’re with him but not when we’re not there. I’ll make sure he has one before we go next time.

The weather here is awful and wet too, the motorway was horrible.
