Much better day today was able to get out to carol singing and post a very special parcel to a little girl. Got 400 lights for by my tv so thrilled a friend has let me a tree until next year I can get my good one again. I’ll seize up now but feel happy. Stew and dumplings for tea. Christmas call the midwife on now.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/12/2022 18:01

I spoke too soon: the washer died during the first wash (squeak, squeak, squeak, clunk 🙈🤣). So I rang and complained and they've written it off and I've ordered a new one. Annoyingly only a 10kg drum, not 11kg, but I wasn't offered an 11kg in any of the choices given to me under the insurance policy.

Wreck, that's a total ballache. You'll have to save money into an account so you've got it there when they demand it all at once (which they will!).

Was that the singing Santa from Aldi, @Always4Brenner?

Yes I was able to post today so very pleased.

Thank you for the good wishes re my commute. The morning was difficult (but beautiful!) and I made it home for my Covid booster this evening!
I am definitely behind this year but it's comforting to know that efficient people like Biddy are also not on top of everything.
Sorry to hear about your washing machine fluffy and good luck with services wreck.
I have wrapped presents for posting crazy and am hoping to do the others next week once I break up.
Hello Yorkshire and Always!

Hi everyone,

I caught up with two groups of friends at the weekend and the madness continues tomorrow because we have our Christmas lunch at work. I treated myself to a nice Christmas jumper for the occasion.

I'm almost there with the Christmas shopping (been saying that for about a month now Xmas Grin) and consoling myself with the thought that there's still almost two weeks to go, so plenty of time to get that last minute gift or two.

Need to think about the big grocery shop. I should start making a list.

I also need to put up the outdoor lights. Hopefully I'll get a little bit of breathing space at the weekend and I'll put them up then. It's funny because one end of my street has outside lights but the other end doesn't.

It was -4 degrees on the way home so I'll have to leave extra time in the morning, to defrost my car. We've had freezing fog for the past few days. Hopefully the cold snap will lift at the weekend. My poor hands are very dry and sore from the cold, even though I have gloves.

Very sad news about the explosion in Jersey at the weekend and the boys who died after falling into a lake. Such an awful time of year to lose someone in those circumstances - not that there's ever a good time, obviously.

WreckTangled · 13/12/2022 05:55

11 morning! Last day of uni for the year should be good. It’s 0° here so not too bad.

Fluffy yes, I’m guessing it’s a band d (hoping) so putting that amount away (£1965 for a year). It’s ok for us but I think for those struggling and resorting to food banks they’d find it hard to save and not dip into it. And you’re right they’ll demand it asap once it’s been banded.

Sounds like you’ve been having fun tayto I agree it’s so sad to hear about those tragedies.

Right I need to get ready, got my Christmas leggings on that my Nan says look like pjs 😅

NoWordForFluffy · 13/12/2022 17:45

Evening!

Busy old day today. Not as cold, thankfully.

I hope you enjoyed uni, Wreck.

Oh, and our new washer came today. We're going for broke with the tumble dryer to catch up though! Second load is in, another to go shortly.

Tomorrow we have an upright freezer arriving and we'll get rid of the chest and small upright freezers. The new one has the same capacity of those combined!

Then we will have a load of white goods to get rid of as well.

My DS has Uni exams soon so we'll all hear about them (how hard he works and how in my day -Jurrasic period obvs- there wasn't the same pressure on students )
He's suffering post-Covid fatigue I think , poor lamb .
I'll pamper him over Christmas Xmas Wink

Hello Yorkshire and Always!

Waves hello. Tiny bit of shopping today got my small selection of cheese for Christmas so pleased wonderful surprises are turning this week as well. new bedding turned up and new double quilt so very cosy tonight in bed, pain all day today I won’t let it defeat me though.

CrazyBaubles · 13/12/2022 22:25

Evening. Very quick hi from me - it's been a bit of a day (work stress, dm being a PITA, general busyness and DH annoying me). I've literally just stopped so am spending 5 mins browsing MN then going to bed 🥱

Fluffy hope new washer survives the settling in / catching up on washing phase!

Taytocrisps · 14/12/2022 06:33

10 Nothing Christmassy to report today. I'm working for the morning and then collecting DD from the orthodontist. Will wrap some of DD's presents tonight when she's with her Dad. I badly need an early night tonight - I've been in bed late every night and then up early for work and it's taking it's toll. Right, better get dressed and go defrost my car.

WreckTangled · 14/12/2022 07:26

Morning. I have a meeting today, it was due to be quite far away but due to snow in the east it’s been changed to virtual so I’m going into the office.

I started my Christmas puzzle last night 🎄

NoWordForFluffy · 14/12/2022 08:43

Morning!

Chilly but sunny here. Will hopefully add much-needed warmth to the front of the house!

I had an early night last night as it was cold. And I slept well, unusually.

The new upright freezer is coming today. Exciting times! 🤣🤣 The utility room will be much better once sorted. DH is going to put a shelf up to hold the tumble dryer, so it'll be much tidier without a billion freezers in there.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 14/12/2022 10:42

Morning. Bloody cold again here again
-1° (with a hopeful high of 2° later) apparently 🥶

Hoping for a better today than yesterday but that doesn't seem likely as DH has called in sick for the first time in about 10 years.
He's been congested and coughing for days but last night had high temp but shivering, got out of bed then fell over as he felt so dizzy.
He's not a bad patient (no groaning and dressing gown of doom here) but I selfishly really really don't want to catch it.

How tall is the new freezer Fluffy? We have the tiny fridge freezer one plus an under-counter upright and both are often full to bursting Blush

ConstantlyCooking · 14/12/2022 15:03

Not tempted to keep an emergency freezer Fluffy? Mine gets switched on every Christmas.Smile
70 I'm sure he will need lots of nourishing Christmas food!
My plan is to finish cards tonight and to send a couple of parcels via DPD. More expensive than Evri but hopefully reliable.
Still freezing here and staff keep going home sick. Hopefully we'll make it to Friday then I can collapse with a virus relax and enjoy the build up!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/12/2022 15:27

That's sounds nasty, Crazy. I hope he recovers soon and you don't get it!

The freezer is enormous: 187cm tall. It has 7 drawers inside. We'll be able to bloody find stuff rather than rooting round the chest freezer and losing stuff all the time! Nothing worse than having to dig out stuff from the bottom.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/12/2022 15:31

I have freezer envy there Fluffy.

WreckTangled · 14/12/2022 16:42

It’s so cold here too. I couldn’t move my fingers at one point even sainburys was freezing. I guess they can’t afford to heat it.

ds has panto today so will be home a bit late. Dd is running late too as there’s been a crash, I’m waiting for her in the car and am so cold.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/12/2022 19:42

Freezer envy here too Fluffy

We bought a 2nd small chest freezer for the garage -less risk of the door being left open than an upright one . We take photos of the contents every week or so to keep an eye on them.
We did have a big chest freezer before and yes , some of the food lurks at the bottom !

My hands are freezing too , I have to wash them in warm water to thaw them then limber them up with handcream

I've got an M&S order to pick up then I'm looking for some Christmas niceities for me Xmas Grin .

NoWordForFluffy · 14/12/2022 21:10

We now have two freezers going spare! We're hoping the people over the road may have use for one (or her mum will). We're going to offer the other to our next door neighbours, to see if they'd like it. Hopefully there will be takers for free freezers!

My hands are rarely warm, 70. My chilblains are faring better since I started to wear socks in bed every night though.

Always4Brenner · 14/12/2022 21:16

Next year I want a new frost free fridge freezer it will mean then seven shelves in total for the freezer bit separate freezers .I’ve got a frost free freezer now under the counter one worth every penny.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 15/12/2022 06:57

We have a spare fridge freezer in the garage, yesterday I cleaned it out so I can start filling it with Christmas food.

WreckTangled · 15/12/2022 07:27

9 woo hoo!

I have a chilblain too fluffy, I get them every year.

Dd is off school today as she has a temperature.

Last full day of work, half day tomorrow and I’m off!
