DD wants the Xmas bedding putting on today, and I’ve got an Xmas plate that has gone on display this morning. I’ll be going up in the loft for a couple of subtle things today.
‘Anyone else ?

No too early for me

FionnulaTheCooler · 01/11/2022 07:38

No I'm waiting until Bonfire Night and Remembrance Sunday are done and then I'll think about it.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/11/2022 07:38

1st December for us. No earlier!

That’s what I used to do too. But just this year I’m going to start a month earlier. It takes me ages to put everything out anyway

KangarooKenny · 01/11/2022 07:40

Looks like it’s just me then !
Tonight I will be downloading those American Xmas films, you know the ones where he /she goes home for Xmas from their high flying job in the city, gets snowed in and falls back in love with their beau from high school.

A week before Christmas for me and everything taken down the day after Boxing Day.

Candymay · 01/11/2022 07:44

The films too yes! And the music! In fact I’m going to put the music on now to wake my son up for school.

unicornwonders · 01/11/2022 07:56

i would if i could but there’s no way DP would want it up this early, we agreed 24th of november

Hairgician · 01/11/2022 08:03

Nope. Too early.
1st saturday in december here. Im then itching to take stuff down after boxing day. Too long to do it now.

snowmanshoes · 01/11/2022 08:05

@KangarooKenny completely agree about the films 😁 all have a similar storyline however I still sit there watching them all 👍
Decorations for us will be last weekend in November - whenever that falls

Nowheretoogo · 01/11/2022 08:06

I wish I could but my dc would be asking every 5 minutes if Santa has been yet!

Openmouthinsertfood · 01/11/2022 08:06

Listening to Xmas pop right now. (On headphones, I'm not anti social!) Have my Xmas cup. Have all the decorations done apart from the tree (Am waiting on some lights, hopefully be in on Wednesday.). Helping my mum today with putting hers up. Xmas Grin

Wow! When did you start?

im trying to get started. Got the hand soap and candles ready.

2pinkginsplease · 01/11/2022 10:27

Far too early, it’s only just November however there is a house near me who I fully expect to have the Halloween decs down by lunchtime and the Christmas ones up within the next few days.

Crapshopper · 01/11/2022 10:27

Absolutely not 😂 I try to be open minded and each to their own but this thing of starting so early just seems insane to me!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 01/11/2022 10:35

.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 01/11/2022 10:40

Quite agree @ZeroFuchsGiven

Two months with Christmas decorations all over the house? Bloody hell that is a sure fire way make everything not feel special or festive.

Christmas is great and I love a decorated house but honestly having them up for so long is fucking bonkers.

Usually our tree is up mid December or later (we have a real one) and down on NYE or NYD. That's plenty.

Crapshopper · 01/11/2022 10:46

People have said I’m a grinch for feeling this way but it’s completely the opposite. I absolutely love Christmas but part of that is because it’s a special time-it really spoils it for me to have it going on too long.
They also mock me for preferring a picture advent calendar to an expensive beauty one .

I went a little nuts about a week or two ago...lol I received some decorations I ordered in the mail so thought I'd put them out rather than have to pack them away and bring them out again in a few weeks. It just seemed to snowball from there...Xmas Grin

Openmouthinsertfood · 01/11/2022 10:51

Love that meme. lol
I love Christmas time, that's why I put my decorations up early. It's no bother to me and I enjoy it. (Besides, all the shops have theirs out! :P ) I still find the season very special, but then I place the importance on family. All coming together over the holidays. I love it, and the decorations remind me of that. And no, I don't go out, I'm agoraphobic. Maybe that's why I enjoy the season so much too, it's something I can join in on...

Sidking · 01/11/2022 11:19

First weekend in December for us usually, I have to rearrange the tree decorations enough in the month it's up (2 year old!), CBA doing it for an extra month 😂

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 01/11/2022 11:29

I’m still building up the energy to take the halloween decorations down.

I do know plenty of others who will be putting Christmas decs up.

we don’t have a specific weekend or day they go up, fully depends on our schedule, and things go up over time when I can do it.

We are having some work done on the house in the next few weeks so I will wait till that is done.

I really love this. I feel similar. It’s a season I really enjoy and I love the lights and decorations so why not allow myself extra to enjoy it? I know I’m arguing with myself here because somehow I feel I shouldn’t allow myself what I enjoy but that’s another story.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/11/2022 11:35

Advent Sunday is 26th November. But anything before mid December is ridiculous!
