@Notherereally1 I bought my daughter 'Her Dark Wings' for her birthday, she said it was one of the best books she has ever read, she couldn't put it down. I also bought her 'The Year Book', 'When Fishes Flew' and 'Jayne Eyre', all very much enjoyed.

Would anyone have any book recommendations for DD12, she's mature for her age and really enjoys reading. Thanks

My dd13 is really loving the Percy Jackson books at the moment and is devouring each one an alarming speed. My older dd at a similar age really enjoyed a set of YA books about a skeleton detective (can’t remember the name sorry)

InsertPunHere · 02/11/2022 10:14

@Notherereally1 - Leather probably means Skulduggery Pleasant books, and yes, they were a big hit at that age.

Favouritefruits · 02/11/2022 10:18

@Notherereally1 how about Judy Blooms Forever, I loved this book as a teen!

MerylSqueak · 02/11/2022 10:29

@Notherereally1 My son is really enjoying Antony Horowitz The Power of Five series. I am an English teacher and I am really enjoying them too. They're really exciting.

I am also really enjoying the Secrets of Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott. Really clever.

LEGO 76900 Speed Champions Koenigsegg Jesko Racing Sports Car down to £12.99 on amazon

Might be worth a read through first - my (generally mature) 12 year old would be traumatised by sex stories!

Dreamingofwalden · 02/11/2022 10:52

I bought my niece Divergent by Veronica Roth a few years ago and it’s still her favourite. I love Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking Series which is a YA series. I always look out for Marcus Sedgwick, Meg Rosoff and Ruta Sepetys as authors.

Just ordered my Sephora/Feel Unique box by signing up for a 12 month subscription it was £1.95 delivered for first box with a free gift pouch. There are some good sized products too, most of mine were 50ml.

Plan is once I've had it to email their customer service to cancel so > fingers crossed < no chance of being stung with ongoing cost.

Shall post the contents when they are here!

Dreamingofwalden · 02/11/2022 11:04

I haven’t read it yet but like the look of ‘You’ll be the Death of Me: TikTok made me buy it.’ By Karen McManus.

Notherereally1 · 02/11/2022 11:13

Thanks everyone for the book recommendations. Have made a note of them all, now off to find bargain prices for them 😊

I’m sure I saw someone saying you couldn’t cancel this one on another site, you may want to look into it before it arrives.

Anyone know what a good price for a Dualit milk frother might be? Current £54 most places.
Whittards have a £10 of £50 spend (and also Topcashback will give me a bit extra off). Likely to be any less Black Friday does anyone know?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 02/11/2022 11:37

I checked the Ts and Cs and there is definitely a 14 day cooling off period to cancel, annoyingly it has to be by contacting them but I'll make sure I diarise or do a soon as I get this box whichever comes first.

I think I'll definitely need to watch though as if they have dispatch delays it could be tight. I'll perhaps wait till I've been billed and had just dispatch confirmation, may be a bit sooner to sort

Soscrewed · 02/11/2022 11:55

Those looking for books- my 9 year old is loving the amari books (amari and the lightening thief is the first). All mystical, off to school etc, but a bit different. I have enjoyed reading them with her.

BadAmbassador · 02/11/2022 11:58

@Favouritefruits I think Are You There God, It's Me Margaret is a better Judy Blume choice for a 12 year old, I absolutely loved it.

Wilko website seems to be automatically taking 27% off everything including things already on sale. For example this artificial tree was already reduced and the extra discount takes it to £27!

Must have been a glitch as codes aren't working at all now

Yoyoyo1 · 02/11/2022 12:15

Hi,
I'm looking for one of those sandscape things. Where you tip them upside down and sand drips down and forms different shapes?! They have some on Amazon but the quality doesn't look great. TIA

Yoyoyo1 · 02/11/2022 12:16

Also, does anyone know where I can find nice, recyclable wrapping paper that is not too expensive?

Most places do recyclable wrapping paper now. Depends how "nice" you want it to be, but Aldi had some nice prints at 99p for 10m

My entertainer code never turned up (for a birthday today) and I’ve checked I’m on the mailing list.

I’m looking for the Photo Creator Instant Camera on offer. It’s £56 in Argos but it’s been out of stock for collection and delivery for a week now (for me). It’s full price on Smyths and Amazon. Does anyone know of a Smyths code or another way of getting it cheaper from somewhere that has stock please?

It's £56 on the Very website
