What are your teenagers wanting for Christmas

I'm looking for inspiration for my 14 (nearly 15) year old daughter as I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. She has plenty of gadgets, clothes, make-up, books. It's hard to thrill her these days - beyond another puppy, but that's definitely not happening! 😆 What are your teens excited about this year? Thank you for any ideas.

I just asked my 14 year old.
She wants a venus fly trap plant.

Ooh DS (13h) would actually love this!

DS wants a decent watch as he’s not allowed to wear his Apple Watch to school any more so I’m going to get him a nice one that’ll last.
The new F1 game for PS4.
Some of the airfix quick build aircraft (he wants to join the RAF).
Army cadet related paraphernalia.
New Vans.

He’s for no idea what else, girls are so much easier to buy for!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 12/10/2022 12:21

@Idratherbepaddleboarding, I have one boy and two girls and I've always found DS so much easier to buy for than DDs! He's just so wonderfully predictable, whereas the girls will always throw me curveballs...usually once I've finished my shopping!!

So DS is 14 just before Christmas. Across both he's getting (from us and wider family)
Cash to build gaming PC
FIFA 23 (already had this as an early bday gift)
Annual pass to Thorpe Park
Stranger Things experience tickets
Mystery football shirt
Smart LED lights
Dumbbells
Cross-body bag to keep his phone/wallet
Books
Sweets/chocolate
...plus stocking bits!

Taylor tickets here too! What's the best strategy , its been years since I bought concert tickets 👵🏼

Re taylor tickets

Ticketmaster.com will be like the hunger games when taylor announces a tour.

DD has made me promise we will get up at midnight or whenever they are released and load up every device in the house into the queue for tickets. And I'll have to either drive a long way or pay for a hotel (prefer latter) so this is an expense I hadn't expected! But she's never been to a concert and like all of yours is obsessed with the woman!!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 12/10/2022 12:45

Not strictly teens, but 21, I think I might get DD a Sonos Roam speaker as she keeps nicking mine. I want to find it on offer though, not sure if I will.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 12/10/2022 12:55

@TheDouglasChater

I get my son skincare from Skin & Me, it’s a subscription service but you can get the first one for £3.50. It comes in a personalised dozer which you click for the daily dosage.
I do pay the higher amount as he’s got acne so does really need a decent skincare routine.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 12/10/2022 12:58

Ds13 this year will probably be getting

New phone
Football t shirts (he’s obsessed but I get ones from football best 4U which are much cheaper)
New clothes JD
Trainers
Bath Stuff
Moneybox
New Bedding
Electric blanket (loves his comfort)
Pjs
Gaming vouchers

Its his 9year old brother I’m struggling with, he’s not into toys anymore but also not into much else!

alrightfella · 12/10/2022 13:06

I struggle so much with DS 15, all he likes is playing football and his PlayStation.

Problem is DD will write a huge list for me to choose from and I obviously want him to have presents too. It's just what on earth to buy.

Dont fall in to the trap of queuing for hours for TS tickets is my advice. For Coldplay I went in the following day and got tickets without any stress and they continued to release them weekly for. a good few months. They do it now to stop the touts being able to sell them on at a huge profit. Takes some courage to sit back and wait but I've done it for the last two popular concerts I've seen and it's worked.

If a tour is announced, go to a ticket sight call gigantic. My friend signed up to it, was able to register interest in the tour she wanted, got early access to tickets on more than one occasion. She was able to log on today, purchase tickets twice before i was less than 5000th in the queue on ticket master for the same gig.

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:53

@Mammed well it is snobby , why is chavvy as opposed to just being fashion for some kids, like goth or mod etc
You know what chavs implies?

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:55

@hotdiggetydog snobbery is always alive and well on mumsnet and rarely frowned upon

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:57

@hotdiggetydog also they clearly don't know what the word chav means or implies

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:58

@mam0918 look up the word chav it is insulting and not just about clothes

Thatboymum · 12/10/2022 17:07

ive just begun my 13dd Xmas so far she has off her list , a north face jacket, AirPods, Apple Pencil, electric scooter(god only know why she wants that when she barely walks the stairs to the fridge) and the iPhone 14, they were her big asks, I’ve still to get small bits and pieces like clothes make up and she’s really artsy so wants a proper drawing board pens paints etc. it gets harder and more expensive every year they grow i feel

glasshole · 12/10/2022 17:13

It must be a trend for the teens to be digging the parents old record players out as mine has done the same. She's also requested a few albums although now she's conceded that her dad actually has ok taste and has claimed most of his albums 😂. I was shocked at how much second albums are!

AlternativelyWired · 12/10/2022 17:13

Around here chavs are also called oompa lumpas due to the fake tan. I tell Dd off for using the word chav but to be fair it often fits. Oompah lumpa is a great alternative.

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 17:39

@AlternativelyWired oh your so good telling your dd off and not bringing her up to be judgemental based on looks . Oh sorry your not

AlternativelyWired · 12/10/2022 17:44

They get judged on their behaviour, not their looks. The oompa lumpas bully her for not being like them.

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:58

I dont need to look it up I litrally know chavs, its a style... you dont get to tell other people what they choose to go by or call themselves is 'offensive'.

mam0918 · 12/10/2022 18:27

worriedatthistime · 12/10/2022 16:57

Are you one of these ignorant try hard to be woke people who have forced an anagram onto an pre-existing word just to cluch your pearls?

Like trying to claim Chav means 'council house and violent' when it doesn't its etomological routes was 'unruly youth' and has for existed centuries in other cultures before becoming common term for the british style.

I mean you wrong about what a chav is but Im just curious what you think we are meant to look up because my google search just brought back everything I already know and nothing to back your offense.

Can anyone recommend some popular skincare brads for teens? DD has become militant about her nightly routine which is lovely, but I'd love to get her something a bit luxurious for Christmas, yet still young?

I got her some Florence by Mills for her birthday but the reviews aren't great and it isn't cheap! )she only wanted it because ot MBB Hmm).

My teens like Cerave.

Marellatea · 13/10/2022 11:00

Another shout out for Cerave skin products. Boots and Superdrug often have offers on them too.
