What are your teenagers wanting for Christmas

I'm looking for inspiration for my 14 (nearly 15) year old daughter as I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. She has plenty of gadgets, clothes, make-up, books. It's hard to thrill her these days - beyond another puppy, but that's definitely not happening! 😆 What are your teens excited about this year? Thank you for any ideas.

Working class and chav are not the same thing!

I was going to say that.

I knew what the poster meant.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 11/10/2022 13:24

My DD has asked for Lego Dragons (fairly certain between her and her younger sister we have them all, but will keep looking).

She also loves the Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire books but is so far through them that the sets are harder to buy now without spending a fortune.

Other than that she wants more art canvases and the lego bonsai tree.

Sometimes I wish my kids were in to brands and clothes because then I'd have ideas of what to buy. But they're really not, they see clothes as the "boring" Christmas gift.

My son has asked for about £300 of minecraft lego and nintendo switch games 🤦🏻‍♀️

Felisse9 · 11/10/2022 15:45

My daughter has sent me a list

AirPods Pro
Oodie or onesie
Airforce 1 trainers
Nike socks
Victoria’s secrets perfume
Tickets to Six: the musical
maybelline mascara ( on offer on Amazon today)
Maze runner books
Subscription to Bakedin.

I'm really struggling for DS 19 and DS 16. DS is 17 on Halloween and is getting band merch, tickets for a gig, beer and protein bars. He didn't want a new phone or ipods. He's in a band and just goes to gigs all the time. We will obviously do the driving lesson thing but can't book him until after christmas so I suppose that could be a pressie. Him and his brother don't have a need for money either really. Just been in DS1's room - he's gone to uni and his moneybox was left on the floor. I checked it and its got £650 in it. Madness. So easy when a bit of Fisher Price and a new thomas the tank engine would excite.

Trinity65 · 11/10/2022 16:29

A list from them is good.

I still, to this day, give my Mum and adult children a list and then they can choose from that what to get.

bert3400 · 11/10/2022 16:33

I'm fed up of buying 'stuff'. My DS14 has everything he wants...imo, possibly not his 😆....so we are taking him & his older Brother to New York for a week just before Christmas. I think experiences are so much more precious than any gadget.

peaceandove · 11/10/2022 16:59

Our teen DDs are 18 & 19 and they already have everything! Everything! So we're splurging on experiences this Christmas instead. So we're going to see The Nutcracker. Then we're spending 3 days in Salzburg just before Xmas for the Christmas markets. Then a pampering day at Ragdale Hall between Christmas and New Year.

They'll still get presents on Christmas Day though.

snugglyblanket · 11/10/2022 17:02

My 14yo is getting theatre tickets, which will become a girly day out with lunch and shopping to spend any Christmas/birthday money.
She lives in her oodie so definitely recommend one of those if you don't already have them.
Her favourite thing to do is bullet journalling, might be an option for crafting? She has pages for all her favourite stuff and it is full to bursting with notes, stickers & all sorts. Stickers are always requested too.
Grown up Lego or sets/figures related to interests. DD has Lego Central Perk, which is often on offer and lots of minifigs from favourite movies & TV shows.
Pop vinyls
Snacks from other countries
Accessories for her bedroom

LondonQueen · 11/10/2022 17:09

DN is wanting airpods and AF1 trainers, DB was moaning how expensive they all were, luckily mine are much younger (and cheaper).

Needmorelego · 11/10/2022 17:12

I just asked my 14 year old.
She wants a venus fly trap plant.

Knickerthief1 · 11/10/2022 17:26

Craft idea - needle felt sets - you can get some cute animal ones. My daughter still enjoys them (18).

PurpleWisteria1 · 11/10/2022 17:30

Gosh. My teen isn’t into most of this stuff! 😬 Hates craft, reading, baking. Wouldn’t be seen dead doing Lego. Almost Everything is babish to her except very expensive brand clothes and makeup. Already has a new phone and air pods. No idea what to get - clothes but everything I choose is wrong 🤦‍♀️ Even stuff she chooses online most of it comes through and is wrong!

PurplRainDancer · 11/10/2022 17:35

hotdiggetydog · 10/10/2022 17:16

What's that? Don't like being called out on your horrendous snooty attitude is it?

Bit of an overreaction @hotdiggetydog 🙄

feckoffbrian · 11/10/2022 17:37

DS has asked for a kindle. Our printer broke so will get him one of those.

DD loves arts and crafts. I bought her a wax stamp set and will get some wools for crochet.

Plus a festival ticket for both and an oodie each.

Bath bomb from Lush

feckoffbrian · 11/10/2022 17:38

Oh also Harry Potter Lego and a cactus.

Justasec321 · 11/10/2022 17:46

megletthesecond · 10/10/2022 18:36

Last year both my teens had proper white towelling dressing gowns. They bloody love swanning around in them after a shower 😁. You could do a lot worse than buying one and getting their initials embroidered on it. Can't break it, lose it or grow out of it.

Would you mind telling me where you got them?

Perfect for mine for Christmas - thank you!

Legselevens · 11/10/2022 17:47

Perfume, make up brushes, make up tutorial experience 1 to 1

peaceandove · 11/10/2022 17:47

M&S do them. Have just ordered one each for our DDs.

Ladymama12 · 11/10/2022 17:51

Im loving the sound of a wax stamp set. I've never heard of them before. Im always trying to encourage my dd to get off her phone and be more creative so this sounds great. I let her choose one thing and she's not allowed to ask for money. She hasn't and won't ever give lists. Lol.
The rest of her presents ill choose which will be
Make up
Sparys
Bubble bath sets
Few clothes
A teen type hamper from etsy
A chocolate type hamper etsy
Piece of jewellery
False nails
Craft
Phone case
She gets a decent amount which ill get a lot in sales... And goes on a few Christmas trips leading up to the big day.
She's always very very happy with what i buy dispite the fact not everything will be name brands.

OneFrenchEgg · 11/10/2022 18:07

Limitless cinema card for Cineworld whatever it's called again - been a huge success.
Book tokens
Art pens can't remember the beams but specific
Canvas
Nando's vouchers

£650 savings for a 19 year old is nothing... I blew through that much and ended up homeless in under a month in my teens.

A rule of thumb should be to be abled to afford rent and basic bill for 6 months (£650 wouldn't even be one month) and that still stands for teens. You can find yourself homeless very quickly, especially if hes moved away to another city and running home isnt always an option (can't miss exams etc... if hes at uni).

IggyAce · 11/10/2022 18:10

DD 16 has requested this Brittany sweater.

Silk pillowcase
Victoria secrets body spray
Chanel catwalk book.

somebody2lava · 11/10/2022 18:10

My 14 year old has got

Arctic monkeys tickets
A hot waxing kit
An incense waterfall
Air Force one shadows
Disney's Revolution Make up palettes
NBC Revolution palettes
Black opium
Paint markers
Gem stone jewellery making kit
Silver earrings

Some is from the Boxing Day sales last year , I also have Elf cosmetics, bubble bath, lip balm etc and a jewellery advent and cosmetic advent that I also got in the January sales. Going to give them to her with me Christmas pyjamas on December the first when we put the tree up. She's having a tough time at the moment and is my last one left at home so I'm spoiling her a bit. I'm very lucky that her dad gives me money to buy bits thought out the year so all of our presents are pretty much done.

mam0918 · 11/10/2022 18:15

My kids dont ever ask for things and we dont do lists but somethings hes getting include:

Husky Fridge
Exploding Kittens
Bunny Suicides books
Scratch off poster of 100 films
Blue gaming glasses
Disco lights
Some assort band merch

Im also looking into gaming chairs, depends if I can find a suitible one thats affordable (his last 2 broke through common speaker/wire issues so Im not paying silly money).

mam0918 · 11/10/2022 18:18

that should say

  • Assorted band merch

Although this is quite hard as he doesnt talk to me much about his interests as he doesn't think my music taste is 'cool' so I guess he thinks I dont 'get it'.

I only know 2 bands he likes both of which I have known since I was his age and I probably actually know more songs by than he does lol.
