What are your teenagers wanting for Christmas

I'm looking for inspiration for my 14 (nearly 15) year old daughter as I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. She has plenty of gadgets, clothes, make-up, books. It's hard to thrill her these days - beyond another puppy, but that's definitely not happening! 😆 What are your teens excited about this year? Thank you for any ideas.

England Lionesses football top. But it looks like it has sold out everywhere.

Inastatus · 11/10/2022 18:33

My 18 year old DD wants a pair of ultra mini Uggs.

giggly · 11/10/2022 18:33

One teen has asked for a turntable as she found our old vinyl, Pixies, etc, rest will consist of random selection from a very long shopping cart on Shien. New oddies this year, Primark ones as their old ones are a bit grotty now at 3 years, they have been the best present ever , apart from phones.
Other teen helpfully provides a list on Amazon and again I chose to the price point I want to go to. I no longer buy stuff that I think they’ll like but still do a stocking with sweets, Pringles, mascara, Costa vouchers and knickers, they always get new Christmas knickers

Is that like this one? I've been thinking for dd actually as I could post it.

practicepracticepractice · 11/10/2022 18:52

Thank you @OneFrenchEgg
Although she wants the home shirt. I personally prefer this one!

OneFrenchEgg · 11/10/2022 18:54

@practicepracticepractice yes me too - I need something I can post abroad so it rang a bell as I've been looking at stuff like that recently.

The £650 - that's just random cash lying around his room though that he's left behind unused and discarded. I could spend it! He has a much larger savings and a current account! More money than sense! It was just to give the example that giving him money wouldn't be a good gift because he doesn't spend much which I suppose is a good thing!

You don't need to get into a top trumps thing about it! It's ridiculous the stuff on here I sometimes feel like it's only people in the top 1% or wanting to be.

I8toys · 11/10/2022 20:57

You're right. Apologies. It wasn't intended that way. I may get him festival tickets or cheap flights for him and a mate to go away somewhere for the weekend.

Whycanineverever · 11/10/2022 21:01

Another one here that will want TS tickets - only problem being it's GCSE year so I'm dreading timings meaning I need to fork out travel as well to go elsewhere than London to avoid a clash.

She is obsessed so there is no way I cannot get them. Judging from the price of her merch they will need to be about 5 years xmas presents!

Sorry if it came across snappy. I just mean the original post just didn't need you to try to justify your son's savings. It just ends up with people outdoing each other etc.
But I get the frustration at cash being treated with less respect than it deserves. Often find a shredded fiver in the laundry.

AlternativelyWired · 11/10/2022 21:18

@MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel thank you for the reminder about warrior cats as Dd is a massive fan. There's a new box set due out in January she's up to Dawn of the clans but the boxset is £69! I'm shopping around for individual books although the box set is much nicer as a gift.

MrsMontyD · 11/10/2022 21:22

I'm getting zero ideas from DD except some art stuff that I'm hoping to get a specific steer on at some point.

She's getting so far

Skin Care - Fenty and Glow Recipe
An Apple air tag
Apple Air tag key ring holder
A phone case
A phone charger cable
Perfume
Pyjamas

Stocking fillers are several pairs of silver earrings from Etsy , Clinique lip gloss, hairbrush, chocolate, lush bath bomb and a Costa gift card.

Just need the art stuff and I'm done.

TheDouglasChater · 12/10/2022 00:45

Can anyone recommend some popular skincare brads for teens? DD has become militant about her nightly routine which is lovely, but I'd love to get her something a bit luxurious for Christmas, yet still young?

I got her some Florence by Mills for her birthday but the reviews aren't great and it isn't cheap! )she only wanted it because ot MBB Hmm).

Shelby2010 · 12/10/2022 00:59

@MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel Redbubble does some nice gifts and can get WoF & Warrior Cat prints on them. There are particularly nice Glory & Jayfeather T-shirts if you look through them. Or cushions, phone cases etc. Also have fans here!

ChimpyChops · 12/10/2022 01:38

So far I've bought a bath bomb and some Ted Baker fragrance as it was on offer.
He's nearly 16 and I have no idea what else to get him.

Bagpuss2022 · 12/10/2022 02:40

Oldest two adults money and stockings and a dressing gown,
DD 13 Nike pro stuff, lemieux riding gear, personalised slippers, oodie and led lights and a girlie trip to see a show

kissmelittleass · 12/10/2022 03:16

It's so hard my 13 year old dd doesn't know what she wants so how do I know 😫
I really miss going to the toy shops with a list in her little child writing I could buy loads then now I'm just clueless..anyone else

Nat6999 · 12/10/2022 04:31

Ds wants an expansion pack for his Xbox Series X, he needs a new coat so I will probably buy him that & give him half of the money for the expansion pack as he will have money from family to put towards it as well.

spagbog5 · 12/10/2022 08:52

Dd17 is getting

A Harry styles ticket ( going with friends)

Hopefully a Taylor Swift ticket 🙏( although depending on dates this could be for her18 th birthday )

A London ready ( brows and nails)
voucher from Selfridge's to go with her older sisters.

No idea on anything else

Stocking will be -

Chocolate orange
Smarties
Charlotte tilbury gift set
Christmas coaster for her desk
Xmas decoration
A costa card
Dior lip gloss

Im not buying fillers or anything I just to make up the gifts this year as I hate tat.

PassThePringles · 12/10/2022 09:09

Not sure how much patience/concentration your dd has but perhaps she'd enjoy needle felting? You can buy little kits from hobby shops (The Works in particular) for a few pound. Also, food vouchers for local Subway/Greggs etc so she can grab something to eat while out with friends was appreciated by my dc.

Sweetener12 · 12/10/2022 09:57

Cash
Concert tickets
Amazon gift card
Self-care items (lip balms, body lotions)
If she likes experimenting with hairstyles, could be washable colored sprays
Things to decorate her room with (like led lights, lava lamp, glowing stickers)
Digital stuff (like an easy video editor or a photo editing software for beginners)
If there are bands or artists she particularly likes, could be something from their merch store.

Money in a money box in their room is not 'disgarded' and to expect your mother not to go through and spend your savings is not 'crazy' and of course savings are 'unused' thats the entire point of them.

Theres no such thing as 'more money than sense' but you have clearly never been unlucky enough to be in the situation where your homeless and broke.

Only on mumsnet would someone mock and put down their 19 year old child who is leaving home for having savings and finacial sense instead of blowing through money for no reason.

Utterly bizzare.

nonstoprenovation · 12/10/2022 10:06

Our list so far!

Record player and vinyls
CD player (vintage stacking system) technics
Depop money for clothes
Drum kit
White company smellies
PJs
Plants from patch online
Rugs
New bedding

Most items they want are "vintage" 80s and 90s stuff and 2nd hand recycled items.

Oh and house plants are popular, this is the list for two boys.

I admitted my error and apologised - move on. My whole point was that he has no need for more money and that is what most older teens are given. My intention was not to mock my child. I adore him.

I am not explaining my background so you have no idea of my financial situation growing up.

Any way festival tickets and possibly flights. Gig tickets definitely for DS2.
