Ho ho ho and welcome to the bargain Christmas thread - home of the discounts for Christmas shopping.

Title is inspired by the turtle doves/gloves and in my head it's set to the 12 days of Christmas. I'm actually tempted for us to think up a new 12 days of Christmas nearer the time with all of our best bargains Grin

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

@paintyhands Once I've bought everything, I sort piles and take a photo and see if they look even-ish then wrap and forget about it all. Each kid has a different wrapping paper so no need to remember who's was who's and if they get 'discovered' they wont know who is who's. I keep track of waht is bought and prices on a list on notepad. Not very fancy. I was almost tempted by the number coloured stickers from paperchase, but realised I didn't need them but looked fab for those who don't use different wrapping papers. link

GingerbreadPanda · 30/09/2022 17:13

Partly because one year I had to rewrap a load of things because I lost track, then I ran out of wrapping paper. Partly because I have nowhere to hide anything.

@newmumtotwo24 I got 2YO DD a kitchen from Asda for last Christmas. Its compact and she loves playing with it.

Did your DD enjoy it much? Mine will be nearly 2 at Christmas and I wanted to get her one but DP thinks she's to young

We had one from 18 months, but she only started playing with it around 2 and a bit....

Highly recommend the IKEA one!

newmumtotwo24 · 30/09/2022 17:51

Thanks everyone. FB marketplace is a great shout to have a look at too. I've actually got many things from there for my little ones as I like to avoid buying plastic stuff new can't believe I didn't think of it for the kitchen!

Clucket87 · 30/09/2022 18:01

Not so much about stashing them, but I do a shared reminder list with my husband. It has everybody that we buy Xmas presents for on it. Whenever I get something I add it to the reminder with that it cost. I can then tick it when that person is done. I share it with my husband so that he feels involved when really the only person he has to sort out is me. We also have a separate list with ideas that we put on for what we want for birthdays and Christmas. All those little things you never get yourself. I want one of those nail varnish rings so I don't spill it over the sofa lol. X

Tartan Weaving Mill have finally dispatched half of my order and refunded half Sad

Yup, same here. Well 3 items missing. One really annoying as it was the 'perfect' gift for a tricky giftee. Haven't actually checked if items are still showing as available. Just glad they have refunded without a fight!

Blixem · 30/09/2022 18:25

@NightOwl101 DD had been playing with a toy kitchen at her childminders for a few months and she was only 2 just before Xmas. She plays with it all the time.

Not a bargain, but a question for all you seasoned bargain hunters / present squirrellers! How do you organise and store your present stash? I currently have various things in boxes at the top part of my wardrobe - I want to go through everything, decide who is getting what (some are random, some are allocated, some are little spares for anyone I might want to give a token gift to). Some might say a spreadsheet but I’m more visual than that and I’d like to physically sort and label them in some way. Any genius tips welcome! Oh and I’ll probably do a spreadsheet or list of some kind too. Thank you!

I use an app called Gift list
you can keep an eye on budgets here too and you can add a pin so it’s private for your eyes only.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 30/09/2022 20:52

I don't think, probably the same as a lot of you, that there will be many real bargains out there this year. Just the odd 20 per cent off or end of line bits. I've hardly bought a thing yet. Let's see what the next month brings. Fingers crossed.

Cuwins · 30/09/2022 21:08

Frugi have a decent sale on if anyone likes their clothes. Not Christmas presents but have brought DD a couple of bits for next year

shash1982 · 30/09/2022 21:16

The revolution advent calender is £45 on their website and they have 20% off at the moment too (code is showing when you enter).
Maybe good for a teen.

Congratulations on your baby @newmumtotwo24 xxx
we have an Asda wooden kitchen. Four years old and atill
going strong. The children have loved it and it’s stood the test of time.

Haudyourwheesht · 30/09/2022 21:46

We've got an Aldi wooden kitchen. It's used all the time and is also really useful storage for all the kitchen crap toys that they've accumulated.

cooolio · 30/09/2022 22:01

"I don't think, probably the same as a lot of you, that there will be many real bargains out there this year."

I'm feeling like it will be the opposite. Shops still need to shift stock and people are spending less. I got a massive haul at the Works with items down to 10p.

The gin was a bargain and I got 2 as well as the bargain nerfs and the beauty boxes. I've got quite a few games that were really cheap.

HulahoopsBBQbeef · 30/09/2022 22:10

rocket and rose have their festive fiver offer on. They take a while to deliver in my experience but great quality personalized t shirts that wash well.

HEXBUG 433-6983 5 Pack 4 Plus Bonus Flash Nano Sensory Vibration Kids and Cats Small HEX Bug Tech Toy Batteries Included Multicolor

these hex bugs are lowest price according to the camels. We got them last year to play with ball runs/magnet tiles. You can make mazes and they scuttle about inside them- fun for a “different” present that doesn’t take up vast amounts of room as they are really tiny!
