It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

Remember those 850g of Dairy Milk we bought last year? DS has just discovered Galaxy (never really been into chocolate bars before) and asked me the other day “remember that giant chocolate bar we bought so-and-so at Christmas, can you please get me a Galaxy one for Christmas?”

So my long winded question is, do they ever sell giant Galaxy ones? I never normally buy bars, so don’t know. Biggest I can find is 360g. (Which is actually more than enough chocolate, but doesn’t really have the wow factor 😂).

mac1974 · 07/09/2022 13:53

@coffeetofunction if you have an Aldi nearby check in there for a den building kit. They were selling them off cheaply recently. It was this one they were in my store just in the bags not label or anything on it

@princessbear80 my MIL loves Galaxy chocolate. I know you used to be able to get 1.17kg bar i am don’t think you can get them anymore

Some many bargains!!

We've massively cut back this year and things are really tight. I wondered if anyone could help with the following

My DD has asked for alien perfume, it's about £60. I have a blue light card and could register for student discount if anyone could find it cheaper.

Also my DD8 wants a den building set. I saw the ones previously advertised but they seemed a lot for what was included, can anyone help with this?

Also I have a DGMiL who I adore but struggle with every year. She has dementia and really leaves the house. I've been known to make her gifts but struggling for ideas other than slippers this year

Thanks in advance

For your dgmil, does she have a twiddle muff? I think they’re recommended for people with dementia and i can see there are a lot of patterns available for them, if that’s the sort of making you mean?
The cat one looks so cute (but expensive)

@coffeetofunction What about a personalised photo blanket or cushion?

Goldenphoenix · 07/09/2022 14:27

@Fuckingfuckssake I had one of my thrift orders turn up yesterday. About half of what I ordered is good (as expected really) so the rest is off to the charity shop. Have a few more orders on the way!

Fuckingfuckssake · 07/09/2022 14:43

Thanks @Goldenphoenix and @Ehunt1 I'll keep waiting!!

Raindancer411 · 07/09/2022 14:57

I got some pip squeak 14 crayola pens for my 2 year olds stocking in Wilko for 2.65 today.

I am looking for an idea for my nieces birthday. She is going to be 10 and doesn't really play with toys now. Something under a tenner but good value... any ideas? A bag or some peelable nail varnish or a journal was on my mind but not seen much yet.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 07/09/2022 15:07

My local dunelm had a good choice of fleece hoodies today

noscoobydoodle · 07/09/2022 15:08

@Raindancer411 - i got a few things from Bargainmax for my 9 year old DD and nieces (8, 9 and 10) for under £10 but look good value: Juicy Couture Dazzling Surprise DIY Set, harry potter and rainbow high tie dye sets and harumika sets.

Works generally have make your own bath bombs / lip gloss sets. Keep her occupied but doesn't feel like playing.

I’ve heard nothing about my thrift order since I placed my order. I might contact then to check whether it’s actually coming if I don’t hear anything in the next few days.

JubileeTissues · 07/09/2022 15:38

Asda had lots of reductions on summer items crafts in store. Paint your own stepping stones 30p, Spider-Man seed and pot sets £1.50 etc.

princessbear80 · 07/09/2022 15:41

Thanks @MayaTheBusyBee - hopefully some bigger bars appear towards Christmas.

I haven’t heard anything about my two orders neither

ArnoldJRimmer · 07/09/2022 16:10

I've just received a dispatched with yodel email from Thrift+ after receiving the 14 day wait email last Friday from my order on the 29th. Not heard anything yet from my order from the 30th though but it looks like they're finally catching up

Theraffarian · 07/09/2022 16:39

After having received an email confirming my thrift+ order was shipped , but with yodel still saying it hadn’t been received by them 6 days later , I sent Thrift+ a quick email,
they then said it had then been shipped the day I emailed ( so not when they sent the original confirmation of shipping) but 2 days later and yodel still hasn’t received it .
It was only one item , but all seems a bit disorganised.

Seafretfreda · 07/09/2022 16:44

Still nothing in my local M&S food hall - gutted!

Yalz · 07/09/2022 16:45

@Seafretfreda , sorry about that. 😥

AlabamaWorley22 · 07/09/2022 16:48

This isn’t a bargain as such, but just wanted to say that there’s 25% cashback today on Clarins with TopCashBack.

This is a brilliant deal if you have any clarins gifts to buy, as it would take the double serum down to “only” £45 plus if you spend over £55 you get to choose three skincare products (bigger sample sizes of up to 30ml/50ml available) which might be nice stocking fillers / table gifts (or you could just keep them for yourself).

if you haven’t yet registered with topcashback, and do so using a referral link, you should also get an extra £10 cashback as you’re registering and immediately spending over £10. (If you need a referral link see the bargains / promo boards and there will be plenty on the latest page)

so it’s not something very cheap but it’s a good deal if you need to buy that stuff anyway. 25% back is not to be sniffed at!

Isonthecase · 07/09/2022 17:10

@coffeetofunction we've done things like fancy pillow cases for a relative with dementia. My policy was if they're stuck in the house might as well have the few things they see and touch lots be really lovely. Could also try something they might have happy childhood memories of as those tend to be last to go? Sympathies, it really highlights what they're missing out on.

Piccalino3 · 07/09/2022 17:13

Not the deal of the century but a nice little stocking stuffer for a girl. Down to £3.99 today (think it was £6 or so the other day):

ZHIYE Children Makeup Brushes, 7Pcs Makeup Brush Set Foundation Eyebrow Eyeliner Brush Cosmetic Concealer Brushes for Kids Girls, Women trave - Pink with case amzn.eu/50jNJSQ

Someaddedsugar · 07/09/2022 17:14

@coffeetofunction in our Aldi they have a den building kit reduced to £3.99 - it comes in a little rucksack. DS really wanted one but they only had pink ones left and he wanted a green kit 🤦🏻‍♀️

coffeetofunction · 07/09/2022 17:16

@Famousthehero I'd forgotten about those. I will have a look on Pinterest

@Purpleheadgirl I made her a cushion cover for her 90th this summer. I have previously created a photo calendar with photos to correlate to birthdays so I think I'll do that again.

Thank you both

coffeetofunction · 07/09/2022 17:18
