It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

@deeplybaffled have a look at the works. I got a set from there a couple of weeks ago for £10. It was little tykes themed. In a decent sized box

Yalz · 07/09/2022 10:36

When I select £10 Tuesday on the website it just has a '£10 Tuesday will be back soon' and the shop now button doesn't help!

@thaegumathteth , Boots are pretty quick at taking the Tenner Tuesday offers off the website on Wednesdays.

The same offers do come back sometimes on Tuesdays.

thaegumathteth · 07/09/2022 10:37

The fact it was in fact wednesday had escaped my attention 😂

Thank you !

Just to add that if anyone is umming and erring about getting a velvetiser, DH got me one two years ago. When I opened it I was "wtf, I rarely drink hot chocolate" and then I discovered I could use it to heat milk (I mean duh, sometimes I'm a bit thick) and it now gets used multiple tes per day.

BluOcty · 07/09/2022 10:50

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl for the Scottish Fine Soaps code, THANKYOU!20

It works with sale items too (though the sale is small).

tabbycat985 · 07/09/2022 11:00

If anyone can make use of this, I didn't read that it's for new customers only, 3 bottles for £9 at wine52
Code is NKB5MK

Just tried to use your code @tabbycat985 but seems someone has already claimed it! If anyone else has another code that would be super!

Kids bunny slippers reduced to £1.25 at dunelm

Fluffy socks for 87p

More socks

Cute Dino hunt set for £5

might be good stocking fillers?

Reastie · 07/09/2022 12:09

@RainbowPhilosophy that's a lovely idea if they're linked to bargains. Happy for anyone to hit me with ideas or links to put on the list for specific gift ideas for different ages/people.

Has anyone had a Thrift delivery yet?

Roserunner · 07/09/2022 12:27

Is the velvetiser easy to clean? We have an Aldi milk warmer and its really hard to clean. It leaves like a burnt patch each time and its really hard to get it off. I'd love a Velvetiser and could prob convince DH we need one if it will make it easier to heat his milk for his coffees!!

BeanyBops · 07/09/2022 12:30

Hi everyone! I loved these threads last year (even though it's still summer in our house until after our September summer holiday and then I get absorbed by Halloween for a month too!). Thought I'd add-there's some cute m&s baby and young kids clothes in the clearance section of ocado at the moment. I've just ordered some pink unicorn leggings and a couple of nice t shirts as Xmas presents for £3 a pop.

KindleAndCake · 07/09/2022 12:34

Thanks for the link to the Dunnes blanket hoodies. I got 2 adult ones for my teens and they're huge, but will be great for them.

@Roserunner so easy to clean. One of my favourite things about it!

Yalz · 07/09/2022 12:36

My MN searching is failing to tell me who is was, but thank you for mentioning the big discounts on some food items in M&S.

I went in my local branch this morning and they had many different lines at up to 80% off, with use by dates well into 2023. For instance, there were packets of chocolate covered Marzipan Balls at 50p from £2 (how Christmassy) and boxes of fudge at 75p from £3:50. I bought a box of fudge when they were £1:50, and it's delicious.

They had packets of sultanas, raisins and mixed dried fruit for Christmas cakes, Bird's custard powder for trifles, cling film, bin bags, freezer bags, boxes of tea bags and coffee.... Useful things for food bank donations, too, like boxes of 4 M&S cup-a-soup sachets for 15p and even Tampax at 68p. Look for the red shelf labels.

You have to be careful, though, as the discounted things can be shelved next to almost identical ones which are not reduced.

I imagine they are selling fast.

Thank you, now to convince DH!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 07/09/2022 12:42

Can't remember who on the last post was looking at the cadbury advent bar but it is £2.49 in b&m

@Roserunner the velvetiser you fill with cold water with a drop of washing up liquid then run it like you would to make a drink to clean. Can't be submerged in water

It was @FairytaleofNewHampshire I wanted to thank for letting us know about the M&S food further reductions.
There were a lot more reduced things in my branch this morning than I'd noticed on Monday when they were only 50% off. If you've been in the food department recently and not seen many red labels you might be pleasantly surprised today.

Ehunt1 · 07/09/2022 12:56

@Fuckingfuckssake I was just coming to say I’ve received an email to say one of my thrift orders is on its way.

WhyDoesItAlways · 07/09/2022 13:06

On the velvetiser conversation I've used mine over the summer to make nice milkshakes.

Thanks for the cleaning tip @Justhereforthechristmasthreads I've just been washing the parts and wiping out the inside with a wet cloth but your way sounds much better

Yalz · 07/09/2022 13:08

@Roserunner, I was going to suggest the very easy to clean Lavazza Milk Frother to heat milk but I see it's £59 now.

It was only £19 when I bought mine a couple of years ago, following a MN recommendation, and has been used almost every day since then.

UrbanMage · 07/09/2022 13:08

I fill mine with cold water to the little line, add a drop of washing up liquid and pop it on. Empty out and pop on the drainer. Sometimes wipe the inside afterwards, but I usually air dry it.

Amazonmulu · 07/09/2022 13:42

Don't suppose anyone has seen a discount code for Love Sewing magazine. The best I can find is £25 for 6m and still seems a lot.

coffeetofunction · 07/09/2022 13:45

Some many bargains!!

We've massively cut back this year and things are really tight. I wondered if anyone could help with the following

My DD has asked for alien perfume, it's about £60. I have a blue light card and could register for student discount if anyone could find it cheaper.

Also my DD8 wants a den building set. I saw the ones previously advertised but they seemed a lot for what was included, can anyone help with this?

Also I have a DGMiL who I adore but struggle with every year. She has dementia and really leaves the house. I've been known to make her gifts but struggling for ideas other than slippers this year

Thanks in advance

That's exactly how I clean mine too and it works perfectly.
