Hmmmm, just realised I can't go to any fireworks on 5 Nov anyway...I'm at a gig!

WreckTangled · 16/10/2022 18:27

I’m taking ds to chessington on the fifth for his birthday. Could do without it really! We have free fireworks that night nearby and another lot the week before, we’re quite lucky here that they’re all free.

ConstantlyCooking · 16/10/2022 23:29

Catching up on the thread before going to sleep!
Belated happy anniversary Fluffy and belated happy birthday Nero!
70 I dragged went to ABBA Voyage with DH in the summer- it was great!
We've had lots of gigs this year because some were postponed because of covid. We're catching up with bands from our youth!
The weather here is definitely turning cooler. I am looking forward to frosty mornings after half term. My food shopping is going well. I have meat/fish on order or in the freezer for main meals plus some nice bits. I will now start adding treats to the normal shop to add to my Christmas stash.
I think there are still some mince pies lurking in the freezer!
Present shopping is going slowly though.
No plans here for Bonfire Night as DH and I will be flying home from our holiday Smile

Morning!

Time is rattling on, isn't it?!

I have most stuff planned / sorted now. So I can relax a bit. 🎅🏻

Good luck with the move date / planning, Wreck!

Thanks 🥴

It was chucking it down when I went to the gym this morning. Dry now but cloudy, mild too which is handy.

CrazyBaubles · 17/10/2022 10:28

We're away over bonfire night weekend but wouldn't go to watch anything as ddog gets stressed.
We're staying in the sticks down in Devon so hopefully it'll be quiet.

They finally announced the start of the local Santa appeal for the year today so I'll call and get the details of the children I'll be buying for later (in place of buying for ILs). I much prefer doing this because it's doing some good and ILs are a PITA to buy for!

CrazyBaubles · 17/10/2022 10:31

Also, we were out for lunch yesterday so stopped at the big Sainsburys to do the food shop on the way home.
They have a really good toy sale going - I picked up presents for all except 1 child in the family and saved a fortune Xmas Grin even if I did waste the savings by buying myself a pair of jeans and some skincare

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/10/2022 13:15

Crazy I don't think buying that sort of thing is wasting savings, I would say it is boosting your well being.

My Christmas catalogue came today so will have a nose later.

Tried to get through to the Dr this morning as I need to find out if this covid lurgy has turned into a chest infection but that was a waste of half an hour of my life. It was just constantly engaged.

WreckTangled · 17/10/2022 13:51

Have you got econsult why? I find it much easier than calling but I know not everywhere has it

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/10/2022 14:12

I am not sure if we do or not Wreck. Will have a look later. I think we can book appointments through S1 but never tried that. Going to charge my laptop up as it has my password stored and have a look.

WreckTangled · 17/10/2022 16:28

If they use systmone they should have e-consult on their website I reckon.

I’ve just thrown a bit of a strop over ds’ homework and come to bed. He has to make a musical instrument it’s so stupid, not something he can do, I’ve had to buy elastic bands specially and the cardboard it bending which is driving me mad. I can’t tell you how much I hate homework like this, it so much pressure on parents I have a million other things I should be doing. I don’t mind maths, reading or spelling etc but this has pushed me over the edge 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/10/2022 16:42

Can he make a yogurt pot shaker? Yogurt pot, handful of rice or lentils, cover the top with a piece of greaseproof paper or similar and secure with an elastic band.

I had to get lightbulbs in Wilko today and also picked up some chocolate for the advent calendars and three sweet little Christmas themed bath bombs for the stockings.

WreckTangled · 17/10/2022 16:45

No, it has to be something that can change pitch….

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2022 18:41

We had this homework a while ago. We used the tub the mushrooms come in as the base.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/10/2022 18:48

Ah that’s a good idea! Dh used bamboo to make a triangle and we put elastic bands across it.

CrazyBaubles · 17/10/2022 21:46

Thanks why
Any joy with the dr? Ours has an online booking system and it's the only way to book an appointment because they never answer the bloody phone!

Wreck what is he supposed to learn from that homework? Confused

DH has popped out to help a friend of his this evening so I've been enjoying the peace. Currently cross stitching and listening to an audio book with ddog on my lap.

With our doctor it works via an early hour triage type thing.so everyday you have to phone at 8to get an apt sooner than the ones showing weeks away.they then take your info and you get a call later for next steps and apt if necessary.

Morning!

We're back to online supermarket shopping today, so Sainsbury's is coming soon. Annoyingly, I ordered some beer for Christmas which is on offer, and used some points for it and, despite it showing as in stock on the stock checker, they've subbed it for the smaller box which is dearer per bottle. So that's going back. I'll try again next week and if they're still stupid, I'll buy it from Asda where it's the offer price as well.

I did aqua last night and am doing it again tonight. I do actually like doing it, even if getting out of the house can be hard when it's dark!

I've no idea what happens at our doctor; I've not been since I did my shoulder! I'm assuming it's the phone scrum at 8, as we have nothing online, I don't think.

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 18/10/2022 08:18

Crazy and kateandme, I faced the 8am scrum this morning and managed to get an appointment. I don't really have the energy to charge the laptop up but I would have done if I had not got through today.

CrazyBaubles · 18/10/2022 08:31

You're a better woman than me why. I am not a morning person and the 8am scrum on the phone irritates me.
Pre-Covid our surgery had a good system where you could leave a message explaining if you wanted to see a gp or nurse and as long as you called before 10am, you would get a callback offering an appointment one day that week. No idea why Covid changed that 🤷‍♀️

I'm having a slow start to my working day thanks to system issues. It's running some update or there now so I'm going to make a cuppa to warm myself up.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 18/10/2022 09:13

I only did it Crazy because my chest really hurts and I am getting breathless just putting washing in the machine. It may just be I am struggling to shift it but needs checking (I hate going to the Dr's so must be bad).

Morning!

Woke with a headache and stomach ache (old school tummy ache, not period pain!). Falling apart!

We've done without heating the last 2 days, which is good news. Sunny weather makes all the difference for our lounge.

The kids have school discos later. They're excited!

OP posts:
ConstantlyCooking · 19/10/2022 11:13

Good morning all! I am fighting my pre- half term cold and hoping I'll have recovered by Saturday! It's school photos as well so I will look blotchy and red-eyed on the photo board for the next year!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/10/2022 21:05

I worked my first shift back in three weeks today, and it nearly finished me off, it was a struggle.

Having an xray tomorrow as I have been coughing for three weeks and it needs checking apparently.

Massive thunderstorm here this morning. Really loud and very spectacular.
