70 I'm having a hot orange drink. Trying to warm the cockles

CrazyBaubles · 12/10/2022 11:00

My hot drink of choice is tea or hot choc.

70 I think I'd cry if that was how I was woken (I am a grumpy cow until I've been awake 10 mins).
Ddog get out of bed and does a very loud stretch. If that doesn't wake one of us, he comes to my side of the bed, puts front paws on the mattress and does a very very tiny whine but shuts up as soon as he hears one of us move. He's very well behaved and I forgive him because he only does it if he really needs a wee.
Yesterday DH had to wake him because he hadn't surfaced by 7:30 Shock

Me and dm were talking about the Spode stuff on the phone yesterday and dad didn't know what it was so went online to find out.
Had a message of my dad just now to let me know he's bought me a Spode Christmas tree advent calendar. It has 24 tea lights and a cute holder in it. DH has already told me I'm spoiled but I don't care Xmas Grin

That’s so cute crazy!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/10/2022 07:27

Xmas Grin 73

Love the Spode Advent !

DH and I are off to London today , of course it is raining Xmas Hmm but hopefully will clear later .

WreckTangled · 13/10/2022 07:54

That’ll be fun 70! Yes I think it’s meant to clear in the next hour or so.

I’m WFH today thankfully. Gives me a chance to get organised, I’ve got a really full work diary on top of everything else. Ds has forest school today so he’s happy. Dd has a horrible cold which is hurting her ears and making her feel sick. She’s gone to school though.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2022 09:29

Morning!

It's out tenth wedding anniversary today and the weather is gorgeous up here (sorry, 70!).

Loving the advent, Crazy. Who cares if you're spoilt?! 😁

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/10/2022 11:47

Crazy it's compulsory for parents to spoil us! My DDs are adults and I still buy them unexpected treats.

WreckTangled · 13/10/2022 12:58

Happy anniversary fluffy! Lovely and sunny here now too.

Woolly I don’t have those sorts of parents but hope to be one to my dc when they’re older

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/10/2022 18:45

Happy Anniversary fluffy (10 years is Tin )

Jumbo roll of Bacofoil then Xmas Grin

Weather was nice , breezy but dry .

we did 19,500 + steps so I am fit to collapse on a heap now .

One year I asked my Dad to get me an Easter Egg ( I was about 20yo ) he got me a china rabbit that you pull cotton wool out of its bum (cotton wool dispenser )
Probably better for my teeth and figure than chocolate but I was "Dad , you had one job" Xmas Wink

DreamingofItaly2023 · 13/10/2022 18:56

Happy anniversary fluffy!

what a gorgeously beautiful day today, the perfect autumn day.

in the last two days I have booked two Christmas meals including Christmas lunch out for the first time ever and a Christmas meal for the running group. My December is filling up nicely.

WreckTangled · 13/10/2022 19:38

Ds seems very stressed about moving tonight. He doesn’t realise it but it’s pretty obvious that’s what it is, lots of tears. I’ve found a speech and language therapist whose going to do some work with us with a view to improve his selective mutism which is great, although not the best time financially, but I would get a million pound loan if it meant helping him.

Cant believe it’s almost half term, one week left. It’s gonna so quickly!

CrazyBaubles · 13/10/2022 20:43

Happy Anniversary Fluffy! How have you celebrated?

Woolly that is my parents attitude too - they enjoy spoiling us. It's usually my mum with presents and my dad with favours like dog sitting, house sitting and fixing things.

70 my dad buys random but great presents, like my mum telling him to buy something to entertain us for Christmas when we were teens. She meant a game or dvd or something - he bought an air hockey table from a pub that was closing down 😂

Wreck I hope your ds is ok. I think the idea of doing something is scarier than actually doing it a lot of the time but that doesn't help when they're young does it?
Can anyone help you with the cost of the therapist? My nephew doesn't need so much now but when he did, my parents and I funded some of his physio as dsis couldn't stretch to it but we all felt like you - we'd all take loans if it was needed to help him.

I got wife points today by scoring some gig tickets in the presale so we have a happy house right now Grin

DreamingofItaly2023 · 13/10/2022 20:56

Oh bless him wreck ❤️

I intend to spoil DS and any DGC for the rest of my life!

WreckTangled · 13/10/2022 20:57

I’m not sure tbh. I know my mum will lend me the money, but I’ll have to pay it back 😅

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2022 21:31

We've done nothing to celebrate, Crazy! We never really do much. We just had a bowl of crisps and a vodka each though. 🤣🤣

Loving the idea of tin foil as a present though, 70...we never really do presents either. (We always check to make sure the other person hasn't gone rogue though!)

Wreck, I'm thankful we get DLA for DS, as it pays for his OT. You don't need a diagnosis to get it, the child just needs to require more care than the average child of the same age. It's definitely worth looking into (we get mid-rate care and low rate mobility).

Which gig did you get tickets for, Crazy?

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2022 09:31

72!!

Morning. Quiet day here I hope because I'm congested with a headache and I'm assuming a mild temp as I'm boiling even though the house is pretty cold.

We got Blink 182 tickets Fluffy. We've both wanted to see them for years but didn't think it would ever happen so DH was very very happy.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/10/2022 10:35

Even my DH commented its only ten weeks and two days till Christmas , I was almost impressed Xmas Grin

Crazy , my DS and I have spent many hours and arguements over the better guitar intro version of
"Another Girl Another Planet"

Mine is 'The Only Ones' , DS preffered 'Blink 182' version.

But DS , TOO version is cleaner and clearer , you can really feel the guitar intro . B182 is rougher

No , Mother B182 is grittier , TOO is a bit soft

CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2022 11:01

Oh dear. Sorry 70, I'm with your DS but I think they both sound exactly how they were meant to, to suit the 'sound' of the time IYSWIM?

Pretty sure I've had the same conversation with my nephew (he's 12) about a few songs that have come out recently. He loves them but I remember the proper version which I think is better but when I've mentioned it he looked at me like this Hmm
On a lovely little side note, he also told me I'd lived in the olden days when I told him I'd bought my first single on a tape and didn't have internet at home until I was way into my teens. Cheeky bugger!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2022 11:03

Morning!

Well done on the tickets, Crazy. They were quite dear, weren't they?! We looked at the When We Were Young festival line up next year, which looks amazing. I'm already in Portugal then, else I'd be up for a Vegas trip! 🤣

I have placed my Booths Christmas order today. However, I will be amending it once I have the book, but I wanted to get my slot for collection booked! Xmas Grin

I love that tune, 70!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2022 11:31

Prices weren't as bad as I thought but def not cheap - £80 each. We managed to get seats but a friend of mine has got a standing one and it was £160!

I have friends who were planning to go to Vegas next October anyway so they're going to try and get tickets for When We Were Young later - apparently they go on presale this afternoon. God knows how much those tickets will cost though!

I received the Booths brochure via email this morning so will have a look at that later. I can't order as I'm too far away and we're not here for Christmas this year but I love looking at their food Xmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2022 11:36

Apparently it's $250 or something. Cheap for what you get, anyway!

£80 isn't so bad; I'd only seen the standing prices. 😱😱

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 14/10/2022 12:56

It always amazes me that people will pay more to stand. I'm such a short arse that I hate standing - I can never see anything. I'd pay extra for a seat tbh.

I didn't mind paying the money for Blink. We paid more Greenday and around the same for Chillis so it seems anything from £70-170 is a standard ticket cost these days.
I need to stop spending money!

I do miss the days of getting a bargain though. I seem to remember buying Stereophonics tickets years ago for less than £30, and they had Feeder and Ocean Colour Scene as support.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2022 12:59

I know; it's why I don't get to as many gigs as I'd like to. Far too dear a hobby!

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/10/2022 13:15

I am going to see Robbie tomorrow and I think it was £80 for our standing tickets. I wouldn't pay more than that though.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2022 13:21

My work friend has paid £250 for Robbie tomorrow! Another has paid £350 for Pink next year. 😱😱
