Wow double figures!

it is cold enough today for me to wear my rings again (my fingers swell when it is warm)

the chilli incident made me laugh crazy 😂

off to Chester today and having afternoon tea.

CrazyBaubles · 17/09/2022 09:16

Morning. Cold here - I had to get up at 2am and put on pj bottoms on!

Wreck I’m stealing the Pringle idea from you for DHs stocking.

I went to Sainsburys yesterday and there was a quarter of an aisle of Christmas chocolate.

Fluffy I misread the info when I checked and wasn’t eligible to give blood yesterday. It needs to be 4 weeks since I came home from my holiday and I was short by 5 days 🙄
I’ve booked it for the next time they’re here in about 3 weeks.

Glad to have entertained dreaming 😂

I’m leaving in a few mins. Going to Cardiff for breakfast and wedding outfit shopping with DH.

NerosFiddle · 17/09/2022 09:19

Morning.

I'm off shopping too to try and get some Christmas magazines. And have a wee look and sticking fillers

WreckTangled · 17/09/2022 09:29

Hope everyone enjoys mooching in the shops.

The dc love Pringles, they don’t get crisps everyday so they’re a bit of a treat.

I just got tickets to see Six. Can’t wait, it’s touring and coming to our local theatre so front stalls were only £40 which is a bargain compared to London prices.

Chilly here again. I’ve got my covid booster this morning and am making a roast later, with apple crumble and custard for pudding.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 07:48

Morning!

I have a cold. Just in time to get on a plane and spread it round! 🙄 We're all falling like flies after our work meeting last week. Which is why getting together is BAD! 🤣

I need to go to the allotment this morning to do a few things, then we're going swimming.

I think we're going to use our air fryer / mini oven for the first time today. Exciting! 🤣🤣

WreckTangled · 18/09/2022 08:37

Oh I’d be interested in your air fryer review. I’m still not sure if we should get one or not…

NerosFiddle · 18/09/2022 09:21

Wreck I went to see Six a few weeks ago. It was excellent.

We're supposed to be going to Jurassic Live later on.

BiddyPop · 18/09/2022 11:46

Cooker here but lovely and sunny again so just finishing morning coffee in the garden while I can. Had a swim yesterday - distinct difference in water temp to last week! Getting towards Wim Hok training...

Heading to IKEA in a few minutes - DM wants a few bits for me to bring down next weekend. And will grab my large Milner from storage on my way, to start blackberry gin - there's loads around the green this year, I've already got 2 bags frozen and there are plenty yet to ripen.

Love the tube of Pringles Wreck - are they for 1 stocking or to spread over everyone's?

BiddyPop · 18/09/2022 11:46

Cooler here - definitely not being cooked outdoors!

WreckTangled · 18/09/2022 12:03

I got one each for the dc 😊

CrazyBaubles · 18/09/2022 13:25

Afternoon. Lovely and cool here so I'm going to mooch & potter in the garden for an hour just to tidy it up while DH does the lawns soon. Just wrapping nephews birthday present first, ready for going to see him for an hour later on.

No plan for tea as yet as DH will rustle something up when we're back from seeing nephew.
I think his evening is going to be filled with school work and mine is going to be crocheting and online shopping followed by an early night because I'm knackered.

Cool and breezey here , load of washing out first thing .

Sorted through the winter clothes , got my Big Coats all hung up .

Supermarket today as I simply CBA doing it yesterday , not too busy , but they've removed a lot of the tills in favour of the Self Checkout .
I picked up the Good HouseKeeping Christmas Food magazine , so full of promise but it is mose likely a re-hash of every other year , so not yet , though by November I might change my mind .

I made soup in the Tefal Soup maker , it is damned quick ! . Red peppers, tomatoes (fresh and tinned) , chilli , garlic and some vegetable bouillon powder .
I might use less water next time and roast the vegetable when the oven is on for something else , but it is pretty nice as a first try out .

I 've never tried an AirFyer but I have a really ancient Halogen Oven that is still going strong . DS uses it if he cooks for himself (he's the non vegetarian and likes to eat earlier than us )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2022 14:46

Crazy I used one small red chilli in a full measure of the soup and it is spicey . God knows how your face survived biting into a raw one Xmas Shock

BiddyPop · 18/09/2022 17:01

I'd forgotten how you can lose all track of time in ikea - just queuing to checkout. No Christmas decorations or wrapping yet, but gingerbread houses and tins of gingerbread cookies are available (I stuck 2 houses in my cart but 1 is going to DNiece next weekend ).

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 17:19

I'm in awe that you have enough clothes to need to swap them round, 70. I just have clothes!

The air fryer has done the kids' food and seems to have worked well. It's now doing our courgette to go with our curry (we have courgette with everything as we have so much of it!). It's great fun watching it through the window...DH timed it using an oven thermometer earlier: 45 seconds to get to 180°!

We had a roast and it was delicious. It’s the first one I’ve done in months so I’m pleased everything turned out well. I guess if we had an air fryer I could do the potatoes, carrots, yorkshires, and pigs in it but as I have the oven on for the chicken anyway it would be pointless 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 18:19

Well, apparently chickens cook much faster in an air fryer. You could then wrap it in a towel, like at Christmas, and cook the rest.

Ours is lower power and takes less time due to no heating up, so should use less electricity. We're going to see what our October usage is like, as that will be a full month of no electric shower and using the air fryer.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/09/2022 18:25

Would a whole chicken fit in? The ones I’ve been looking at are the double drawer ones. Each time I cook dinner I’m considering if I could use if for that meal. Chicken soup tomorrow, so no. Chilli and rice I guess not, spaghetti in tomato sauce, fajitas a definite yes….

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 18:31

We have this one: www.klarstein.co.uk/Kitchen-Appliances/Air-Fryers/AeroVital-Cube-Chef-Hot-Air-Fryer-1700-W-14-litres-16-programmes-top-and-bottom-heat-Silver.html

I think the double drawer ones are meant to fit a chicken in though.

I suppose as you're only electricity, it's difficult, as meals done on the hob are also electricity, so no avoiding it.

WreckTangled · 18/09/2022 18:34

Oh that’s fancy. Can you put dishes in it or something on the top and on the bottom so you could do veg and potatoes at the same time? Sorry for a million questions!

if we ever move we might have gas…

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 18:40

We haven't quite worked out about dishes, but we used the basket on the bottom and the shelf on the top today.

However, bearing in mind that cakes absolutely need tins, and it bakes cakes, then I'd think you could use tins for other stuff too!

Gas is way cheaper per kWh, so hopefully that will be available for you. Top 5 is surely getting close now too!

WreckTangled · 18/09/2022 18:49

Yes! And there were lots of houses on last week (that we couldn’t afford) so that’s more people housed. This week has about 12 new builds all £1000 that don’t even come with carpets. I’m feeling ok about it though, I’ve got over my disappointment Grin

I’m looking forward to your cake reviews!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2022 20:51

Ahh Fluffy this summer I wore M&S stretchy dresses pretty much all the time , but they are definately summer clothes .

Jumpers and coats , cord leggings all getting organised . It's exciting ( in a sad way ) to look at my winter clothes and think Oh I forgot about you

Especiallly if I've bought an end of season bargain so it's new for me Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2022 20:56

I have summer dresses, I suppose. But my wardrobe is big enough for all of my clothes at once!
