It's sad about the lack of empathy that some people have towards those whose financial situations are different from theirs.

I'm not rich as I work pRt time because I'm a full time carer to some who is clinically vulnerable. Whatever I get has to stretch and I'm fortunate that I've got generous friends and family. I'd feel guilty if I couldn't treat them with all the bargains from this thread.

I know I don't have to and they don't expect it but I want to because of all the help they've given me over the years. This bargain thread is the only way I can do it, there's hundreds of carers in the same boat as me. I've introduced my little gang of carer friends to this fantastic thread over the years under many name changes. So cheers everyone and a Happy New Year!

Does anyone know if the Holland and Barrett sleep box or premium beauty box has any use by dates? And what they are? Thank you

handbagsgladrags · 29/12/2021 09:53

Any beauty advent calendars spotted please?

greenweepingwillow · 29/12/2021 10:00

oh dear. dementors on the Christmas board. How sad
Anyway, I am always very grateful for these threads. It means I save a significant amount of money each year, and can spread the cost. Also means way less stress come Decemeber each year.
And, as I'm still stuck at home with covid , feeling wiped out and with 4 more days of isolation to go, it is a pleasent ditraction from an otherwise fairly rubbish few days, So I'll take that! Grin

Boots had 1 or 2 when I was in yesterday
WrappedInRed · 29/12/2021 10:06

Hi, does anyone know where to get nice card hangers for Christmas cards? I'm thinking ones that are like ribbon or string along the wall Xmas Smile

WotgunShedding · 29/12/2021 10:41

I can’t find wrapping paper anywhere! John Lewis had some in store but it wasn’t discounted by much and the card factory had sold out. M&S had some that wasn’t to my taste so I’m going to try Sainsbury’s as one last attempt as I remember buying 10p rolls there two years ago, although that was probably later in January 🤞🏾

dizzygirl1 · 29/12/2021 10:44

@wotgunshedding I was the same but m and s had some (2 different stores, they had different ones) also boots had some and the massive asda. There weren't many left though in most places I went to.
Although I'd only gone RL shopping yesterday I was really disappointed in what was left!

If you have a matalan near you the one I was in on Monday had loads at the front of the store
Twinkleylight · 29/12/2021 10:51

@WotgunShedding I went to John Lewis on Mon and they had loads of wrapping paper. Hold on a bit longer and they'll reduce it more next week. It's still too expensive atm. I bought 4 rolls of luxury wrap with accessories for £3 reduced from £6.

I managed to get some in matlan. Also WHSmith.

From boots

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread this morning. It takes me back to when my kids were young. I also used to buy DD a good coat every year in Laura Ashley or Next. Hated having to get up early on Boxing Day but once up and out it was ok. I bought the next size for following year and always felt a bit smug about it when she first wore it.
Other things for the boys like jumpers, sweatshirts or jeans. Presents for parties throughout the year. Christmas paper - still using my stash from 3 years ago bought for 20p a roll from Sainsbury’s final sale.

I don’t need as much now as our boys are adults and DD is abroad. It took me back so keep it up and ignore those that criticise I still like a bargain. I’m looking for battery cluster lights for our wall. I wasn’t spending £50 for them.
🎄Happy bargain hunting!🎄

coolpattern · 29/12/2021 11:22

Card factory had paper at 33p per roll and 6 medium sized gift bags at £1. The gift boxes were reduced by 50%. I didn’t buy cards as I still have plenty.

Wilko had tissue paper down to 50p for 6 sheets.

Our Sainsburys had 2 designs of extra wide paper (dinosaurs with Christmas lights on and unicorns) for 75p a roll but that was it. It isn't a big store though.
nicky2512 · 29/12/2021 12:05

Has anyone seen a bargain wreath for hanging on front door? Preferably to order online as not going out if I can avoid it!
Only just found out my mum would love one but said they were all a bit too expensive so I’d love to buy her a lovely one for next year.

WrappedInRed · 29/12/2021 12:34

Sorry another question Xmas Blush what was the book that was cut into art called again? Please 🙈

WrappedInRed · 29/12/2021 12:35

I was keen to buy some matalan wrapping paper in sale but none online I'll need to go into the actual shop I think!

CottonHeadedNinnyMug · 29/12/2021 12:35

Land End have a decent sale, code HELLO for an extra discount. I bought myself a pair of PJs, some jeans, some board shorts with swimming briefs in, and some sparkly trainers for DD - spent £60ish. Pretty pleased!

Lellyo · 29/12/2021 12:56

Called into card factory this morning not much left in ours unfortunately, but popped into the Works next door and they had some lovely boxed cards half price, so bought a couple from there.
Matalan had some rolls of paper and also some sacks and stockings with initials on, but typically not the ones I wanted

Twinkleylight · 29/12/2021 13:01

Card factory paper is really thin and tears easily so not good if you're storing in advance or travelling with wrapped gifts.

Maybe paperscapes?
daisyboo1 · 29/12/2021 13:27

Can anyone remember the company who had snuggle cushions for sale? They were the same photos online apparently as the Dunelm ones but less expensive?
