Mulberry Bush is good for wooden toys. Off to have a look.

CarrotCarrotCucumber · 29/12/2021 18:52

@oneofthose I've just pm'ed you one- hope it's of use.

My sales shopping so far has been selfish: mostly warm tights. I did get some Christmas cards and tissue at John Lewis, but they weren't much reduced (about 25%).

chillimice · 29/12/2021 19:08

Thanks for the thread @Sideorderofchips! Hope the chips family had a good Xmas!

My mum always used to start her Xmas shopping in Jan and pp used to laugh at her then but she's the savviest bargain hunter I know and I aspire to be her!

I've selfishly splashed out for me and DD at this works sale - their Xmas baubles of sleep and stress help are all half price (or am I just driven to despair by a non sleeping stressed out child?!)

Someaddedsugar · 29/12/2021 19:11

I bought a load of cards, wrap, money envelopes and ribbon in our local M&S today. Not all my taste but perfect for little ones and for DS to give to his school friends.

M&S also had loads of kids clothes reduced in-store - the selection online is rubbish in comparison. I wish I'd picked up the Christmas hand wash while I was there.

This is the Durham M&S for anyone local.

BigGreen · 29/12/2021 19:18

60% off everything at Chickidee I haven't bought from there before but there are some lovely storage tubs (for all the new toys!) plus plenty of nice desk things, and bath and body gifts. Plus plenty of tasetful Christmas decorations, including some sweet baubles for front line services.

oneofthose · 29/12/2021 19:22

Thank you @CarrotCarrotCucumber I knew I could rely on you lot!
Having January birthdays can be useful sometimes Smile

*@Sallylovesdaisy Brilliant Thanks. Will look now.

Hello my lovely. Yes we did! Me and chips children went to see my folks in the UK to get away from everything and it was amazing

Also finding hardly anything at all in most shops, card factory were cleared out apart from individual cards, b&m had one small section, Sainsbury's had a couple of packs of cards and one shelf of quiz cards, absolutely no wrap or decorations at all. Only place I found anything was Matalan and they had a good selection left. Also Asda had chocolates including Cadbury festive bars and bags of Reese's down to 30p but pretty much nothing else.

For those looking for beauty advents, Neom have their 12 days of wellness from £150 down to £75 + an extra 25% off with code 25FORYOU bringing it down to £56.25 including delivery. I ordered one yesterday & it’s already been posted!

RainbowPhilosophy · 29/12/2021 20:28

Any suggestions for bargains for an early January birthday please? My DF, early 70s. I've got a few bits already but would like something else too if I can (he's very hard to buy for).

Crackery · 29/12/2021 20:28

highly recommend BLOOM BOUTIQUE for personalised jewellery

BatShitBitchChops · 29/12/2021 20:47

Kuddly have a bogof on hoodies, does anyone know if they would swamp a tall 7yr old?

CarrotCarrotCucumber · 29/12/2021 21:18

This might be old hat to some of the more experienced forward-planners, but I haven't seen it mentioned on the Christmas threads, so just in case it helps anyone anticipating a tough year: several shops that are good for present buying and stocking fillers give vouchers on your birthday if you enter a date, and these nearly always have no (or very low) minimum spend and combine with sales and other codes. The ones I know about are Hotel Chocolat app (£5), Paperchase (£5), Smiggle (£5), Bodyshop Love Your Body card (£5, but only if you've shopped with it in the last 12 months), Boden (£10) and Hobbs (£20, only on full priced).

BigGreen · 29/12/2021 21:26

Just got some wrapping paper and sticky gift labels from Wilkos, not the best selection of designs but it's plastic free and good for the kids. Delivery is £5 though. (Plus got some reduced seeds!).

I got my mums partner (similar age and equally tricky) a day out at Bletchley Park - travelzoo have a good offer -£12.50 for a concession ticket that you can use any time Jan-March. If he’s anywhere near - it’s a great day out

A whittling book.

Just a note that not all body shops accept their card- our local one doesn't so my mum always waits till she is in another town to buy from there.
notthemum · 29/12/2021 22:12

@slalomsuki

I bought some jumpers from Debenhams as I work from home and my New Years resolution is not to have the heating in so much. I've also bought some knickers from M & S in the sale.

Can't see much else but it's my Christmas present to myself as DH bought chocolates for me which he ate most of after I went to bed last night.

Slalomsuki, I dont know if they are in the sale but Primark had Snuddys with hoods from about 13 quid just befor christmas. Mine was 17. Very warm and I am a very chilly soul. You won't need your heating if you buy one.
MsEmmeline · 30/12/2021 00:09

John Lewis have 20% off some Le Creuset.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a whittling book? I think DS would like this.

I bought a couple called 20 minute whittling projects from amazon. They were gifts so don't know how good they've actually been.
MsEmmeline · 30/12/2021 00:15

Thanks, I'll have a look 🙂.

Someaddedsugar · 30/12/2021 08:44

Our local M&S had** loads of wrap and cards. No decorations though.

Someaddedsugar · 30/12/2021 08:45

Not sure what the ** is for! That's Durham M&S btw

RainbowPhilosophy · 30/12/2021 08:49

Thanks but nowhere near Bletchley Park. The whittling book made me 😁 because DF is rather clumsy and not good at anything requiring precision. His writing is like a doctor's; indecipherable to most people. He is definitely not the person to take up a hobby involving sharp tools!
