Staying at a holiday airbnb place for Xmas to be near family and the kitchen has the most basic oven with all the dials wiped clean of any symbols, there's no chopping board, no extractor fan and only 3 bowls for dessert of any sort, plus no mats to protect the table. I'm coping valiantly and not complaining.

My partner is making it his life's mission to be as miserable as humanly possible, feel like I'd be better off single today I'm spending the entire day alone with our two young children trying to make it magical for them while feeling thoroughly miserable myself because it's stressful dealing with a sulking man child... I feel like he's going to ruin Christmas for us and that's just not fair! Our children are only going to be young once!

We used to travel up to the Scottish highlands with friends (to get away for Xmas) and they were always amazed that I took a food processor, baking trays, knives, bowls, pans with me. You just can’t trust these rental places!

Dh had a positive lateral yesterday so we are all waiting on pcr results, didn’t need to cancel anything as we were having Christmas at home anyway. But ds has just managed to smash all our dinner plates putting them away.

Teenage tantrum here as DD could not be bothered to get presents for anyone on time. She then ordered some online and they are not like she thought they would be. I rescued her by giving her one of my presents for her brother, told her it’s the thought that counts 😂 and tried to calm her down. He now said she does not want to give presents to anyone nor does she want to receive any. I hope she will calm down at some point, but soon!!!!

I really shouldn't complain as it is entirely self inflicted- am rather hung over today out at a Christmas karaoke last night until 2 and then carried on the party at home till 4. DP is in the kitchen preparing the venison Wellington for tomorrow, I should be upstairs wrapping the stocking presents but I'm mostly just trying not to be sick!

I have been cleaning and tidying major mess all day (and the last week) and my two are happily enscosed watching to catch a thief. Have decided no more other than cleaning the downstairs loo which is a regular task anyway.

Got home from three final errands and he dumped the m&s Xmas food order on kitchen floor and decided to clean under the front door mat "he didn't like the look of". Spilled bleach on his trousers and left the mop in the kitchen next to the food. FFS. Trip hazards are one of my least favourite things!

My jeans already feel tight and it's only Christmas Eve!

oh yeah been looking for some dinner plaes I like for 6 months. I have 3 noemal plates which are crazed and cracked (Emma Bridgewater spotties) and one pasta bowl (nick named the dogs bowl) which is also on its last legs. I would love the pattern again but the new ones are thicker and heavier and I just can't lift them in and out of the cupboard a) short arse b) lower back issue and c) fell on my right shoulder and upper arm last year and its not worked properly since sigh

DH had a positive lateral flow yesterday; we've both been for PCRs today, which would be absolutely no problem if we didn't have stuff planned for New Year's Eve which DH needs to isolate for 10 days for if he's positive.

Just made an 8ft paper chain. Just realised it doesn't match any of the other decorations. Cue more wine.

Have been buying extra food each shop for past few months to fully stock the garage freezer so we don't need to do a shop over the xmas holiday.

Gave the DC an early xmas present last night (a mr freeze cup which goes in the freezer then makes icy drinks the next day).

DC got up early and made a drink with new gift, DH went outside to garage this afternoon and noticed the freezer door wide open, temp gone from -15 to 1. many items defrosting/defrosted. Have had to bin a large volume of food/am cooking enough to feed an army for dinner :(

This was my DD who is 11 who didn't close the door, just totally oblivious always, am commencing ADHD investigations due to other reasons but this just really pissed me off today. Also not yet finished work and another meeting just gone in for 2:30pm xmas eve , crappy!!

Dh and ds positive, other ds spent all morning in a and e home now and feeling exhausted already

I've spent much of this week painting the spare room, rushing to get it done before Xmas so that ds1 (25) has a nice room to sleep in instead of the sofa.

He told me that he wouldn't be sleeping in there because of paint fumes (of which there are hardly any, as the window has been open and candles have been burning almost constantly).

I had to fight the urge to stuff a paintbrush up his nose tbh.

Dh and dd both have covid so we have had to cancel all our plans and won't be able to see ds who was planning on coming home for Christmas. Dh has a really sore throat and can't eat so although I have everything in for dinner its not worth cooking all that so I'm not bothering, we have pizza in the freezer so me and dd will have that for dinner tomorrow. None of us feel remotely festive. In the grand scheme of things its no big deal really but still all feels spectacularly shit as we have had a cunt of a year in general so this has just topped it off. Merry fucking Christmas indeed!

It's like the cheapest looking piece of meat I've seen and apparently it's squashed together meat from all over? Some bits from Netherlands, some from Germany 😱😱.

No whinges. Cauli cheese cooked, root veg roasted, both just to heat through tomorrow. Fresh mint sauce done. Meat prepped. TV on. Thinking about walking dog soon then sherry cake and cheese. Family coming a bit later for Thai hot salmon prawns and spinach with noodles.
