If you include Secret santa e.g at work, Scouts leader, neighbours or whoever is on your list.

I have an acquaintance who said he bought for his wife, son and one niece. He is about 65

I feel quite overwhelmed with gift buying. We have about 75 people on our list Shock
This includes a lot of family - DH's side. A lot of the presents are token presents e g £7 voucher to cousins of his I would not recognise but he has always done this and doesn't want to stop.
We have lots of Godchildren between us too and their parents are old friends we buy stuff for. Nothing too expensive but it does add up.

I can't see it changing but wondering if you anyone else has a similarly high number of presents to buy

Just my kids and my parents

senorafridgidaire · 13/12/2021 19:15

75?! Flipping heck.

I buy for DH, DM, the dog, and baby DN. 2 x older DNs will get cash in a card. I leave it to DH to do his side, sometimes his family get lucky and actually get presents before mid Jan!

Caramelbeans · 13/12/2021 19:15

We did secret Santa this year for my side of the family, helped to reduce the number of presents there.

Overall I’ve had to buy for:
DP
DM & DF
MIL
SIL
Secret santa x 1
Friend x 1

MissingMo · 13/12/2021 19:17

I have about 35 depending on how many I get for people at work but I've already decided next year we are scaling it back and DPs family have decided to just get for DMIL and DFIL and skip nieces and nephews for next year as well as scrapping the secret santa.

Onlyabean · 13/12/2021 19:17

21 people

bestdhever · 13/12/2021 19:18

Dc x2
Dh
Dpil x2
DC's x2
Nieces and nephews = 6

So that's 12.

Twixxed · 13/12/2021 19:18

24 (total people bought for from everyone in my house). I imagine this will rise a bit in the future if I get nieces or nephews (and as my kids want to buy more for friends). I cut back a bit a few years ago (by mutual agreement) because it was getting a bit overwhelming!

HollyChristmas · 13/12/2021 19:19

Drumroll .......... 4 .

trickytrudy · 13/12/2021 19:19

Mum
Step Dad
Husband (£20 max budget)
Nephew
Friend's children x 4
Sister and brother in law (token)
4 close girlfriends (token)
An auntie (token)
A work colleague (token)

Probably totals £250-300.

rrhuth · 13/12/2021 19:20

75?? Seventy-five????

Fucking hell. I'd be overwhelmed.

We buy for (outside immediate family) 16 I think. Plus low-budget school Secret Santa's.

Seafog · 13/12/2021 19:21

Between dh, our DC, nieces and nephews, parents, inlaws, and friends it's about 45.
It adds up, but it's only once a year, and we save up for it.

ParkheadParadise · 13/12/2021 19:23

Too many to count
I have a large family.

Where do you get a £7 voucher for 🤔🤔

poolblue · 13/12/2021 19:23

All the adults in our family join in a secret Santa so that's just one present to buy.
DH and I go away for a city break between Xmas and new year as our present to each other.
Apart from that I buy for the grandchildren and the cleaner and that's it.

Wow 75!! I’d be bankrupt!

We/I buy for DH, myself, 2 dds, my parents, DHs parents, I only buy for the siblings I will see, so this year that’s 2 of my sisters and one of their partners. I have brought more for one sister as she will be with us Christmas morning. DHs sisters get family presents of a big box of chocolates and a bottle of wine. I used to buy for his nieces, but they’re now all over 20 so we have agreed to stop.

I would usually but for my little nephews, but they live abroad and the country they live ins postal system has been a shambles since covid so my brother has said not to bother. I’ll just spoil them when they visit next year.

That doesn’t seem like too many people, but I’d do seem to have spent a small fortune anyway!

IDespairOfTheHumanRace · 13/12/2021 19:25

Nobody - the whole business is an excercise in gluttony, greed, excess, rampant consumerism, waste, self indulgence and sits badly with me when people in Madagascar, Eritrea, Sudan, the north of Kenya and many other places around the globe are suffering drought, starvation, civil war and other horrors. We, in the West, sit, stuffing our faces with luxury consumables and giving each other disposable crap, without a thought for others who are starving or without water - life's basic neccessities. So, no, I don't take part in it.

ShottaSheriff · 13/12/2021 19:25

Nowhere near 75! Obviously for our own kids and husband but beyond that we limit it. All siblings have agreed that we only buy for each other’s kids and not adults. My dad buys us something as does MIL but my mum and DH dad tend not to. We’re very happy to not get gifts and direct any present buying to the kids. Our list is:
Parents x 6 (inc step mum/dads)

Cousins x 7
Nan
Nursery staff x 4
Cleaner
Best friend’s kids x 2
Might be involved in a couple of secret Santa’s - work and amongst DDs closest friends. Say x 2

Thegreencup · 13/12/2021 19:25

For me:
DH
Our two kids
My parents
3 siblings (previously 4)
BIL
Nephew

DH pays for:
Me
His parents
4 siblings
2 SILs
10 Nieces/Nephews

I get nominal gifts for other people like un- wrapped tins of sweets or biscuits.

I will admit that DH gets a lot of gifts from his work (sweets, wine and biscuits) and we do give them to people like teachers, postman, the hermes driver etc.

Robin233 · 13/12/2021 19:27

Dh, 3 x adult children, 2 x grandchildren, 4 neighbours, mum and partner , aunty , 3 nephews , niece , grandniece , 2 sisters , 1 bil, so 20!
3 get money though.
I love giving presents but it's usually consumables fir all the adults.
The 2 small children , I always get a list from their mums.

middleager · 13/12/2021 19:30

Husband
My 2 kids
Mother
Father
Brother, SIL, nephews (grown!)
Aunt

Somehow got roped into SIL x 2 and families. Each of those families of four has a family gift, so 2 gifts total.

And now another aunt and cousins have started buying.

So 21!

Next year going to whittle it down to
DH
DC1
DC2
Mother
Father

Mol1628 · 13/12/2021 19:31

Mum
Dad
Brother
Sister
Husband
Two sons
Parents in law
Grandparents in law
The dog

NotAshamedToFancyTheGrinch · 13/12/2021 19:31

Fucking hell! 75!?

I buy presents for 2 (ds and dh)

Mol1628 · 13/12/2021 19:31

Mum
Dad
Brother
Sister
Husband
Two sons
Parents in law
Grandparents in law
The dog

NotAshamedToFancyTheGrinch · 13/12/2021 19:33

Oh shit I forgot the 2 cats 😂
A total of 4 to buy for then.

herestoyoucolinrobinson · 13/12/2021 19:34

Mine’s gone down to 10. 75 is madness!
