Kids breakfast on Christmas day

Looking for inspiration really. I have 4 and 2 yo boys. Both going abit nuts for Christmas this year. Not quite sure what to do them for Christmas day breakfast though that's special but also not going to make them go loopy on sugar. I always have bacon and cream cheese bagel, DH has salmon. Neither of which my boys will eat with gusto. Any suggestions? Dont particularly want to be slaving away cooking on the big day

Pancakes with a bit of Nutella and some berries?

Indecisivelurcher · 05/12/2021 21:20

I took a screenshot of this idea, Nutella in the middle of two pastry sheets, cut the tree shape, twist each branch, bake.

ProfileInsteadOf · 05/12/2021 21:21

My two have voted for French toast.

Indecisivelurcher · 05/12/2021 21:21

And the actual pic!

Mine love scotch pancakes / drop scones with blueberries best, but that's quite a lot of time over the hob when I'll be there again at lunch time.

Bellafrenum · 05/12/2021 21:22

I'm doing Christmas tree shaped crumpets just with butter - that's if I can get them. Also a Kellog's variety pack of cereals as they love them. Me and DH will have fancy marmalade on toast with some sort of extra nice bread.

Avarua · 05/12/2021 21:22

I came on to say bagel and cream cheese but clearly from your OP that's not going to work Grin

Make ahead, freeze and microwave on the day?
IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/12/2021 21:23

Mine will probably have a chocolate orange and Pringles.

TheCloudsHavePassed · 05/12/2021 21:23

@Avarua it's my absolute fave but my kids are wierd 🤣

Tescos finest croissants, warms and served with a choice of butter and nutella does us!

Yellow85 · 05/12/2021 21:29

Our elf leaves us a Christmas breakfast - croissants, pancakes, pastries and the likes.

MamaWeasel · 05/12/2021 21:30

Buy a box of cereal that they're not normally allowed, and some of those magic milkshake straws......if they won't eat the cereal with the milk then they might snack on it on its own.

Failing that, put a cereal bar and a box of raisins in their christmas stockings

BarbaraLoganPrice · 05/12/2021 21:31

I always have a chocolate chip panettone because mine won't eat the fruit ones and it's a childhood tradition I am staunchly sticking to.
Usually they ask for a dippy egg so may do that too. But to be honest I'm not going to go all out, they'll be so excited they won't eat much!

EcoCustard · 05/12/2021 21:31

We always have pain au chocolate or croissant and they can add jam orNutella, with fresh melon as they love that. Orange juice or hot chocolate to drink. Always eat their chocolate in the stockings before breakfast. I have the frozen ones from Aldi/ Iceland or M&S.

Passthecake30 · 05/12/2021 21:31

Tescos do frozen pain au choc, easy and a treat.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 05/12/2021 21:32

We have crispy bacon sandwiches mmmm 😋

Harp1977 · 05/12/2021 21:32

We just do selection boxes and Terry's chocolate orange from the Christmas stocking,

Blowingahoolly · 05/12/2021 21:34

Smashed avocado with herring on a lovely Lithuanian scalded rye bread always does the trick for my 2!

00100001 · 05/12/2021 21:34

Ah, do something completely different...

Pizza for breakfast? Cook it the night before.

livingthegoodlife · 05/12/2021 21:36

Mine get cereal they are normally not allowed. This year it is pink Coco pops. Full of sugar...

I'll have scrambled egg + smoked salmon. And bucks fizz.

Then church. Walk on the beach. Then presents. Need a decent breakfast to keep everyone going.

cafedesreves · 05/12/2021 21:40

We always used to get Kelloggs Variety. Loved it!

PigletJohn · 05/12/2021 21:40

porage with maple syrup. Not a sugar high and not chocolate which they will be eating all day.

you can make it the night before and whisk up with extra hot milk in the morning for a really creamy texture. Single cream if you are indulgent. I sometimes add mixed dried fruit the night before and they plump up overnight, but not all youngsters like food with bits. have a trial run.

Toast and scrambled eggs do not add a lot of workload to the kitchen staff.

Does Dad know how to cook eggy bread?

Amberflames · 05/12/2021 21:41

We’re big fans of the Jus Rol pastries. Either the croissants or pain au chocolate are good. Super easy and pretty quick.

BashfulClam · 05/12/2021 21:44

It’s the law that Christmas breakfast is chocolate coins!
