When do you decorate for Christmas?

OP posts:
Angel2702 · 27/11/2021 02:10

Nearest weekend before the first so this weekend for us this year.

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2021 02:12

Ours go up very late by MN standards, about a week before Christmas, mainly because we have a real tree and put up too early it wouldn't last. The decorations all come down on 12th Night.

MintJulia · 27/11/2021 02:12

When DS breaks up from school, which this year is the 10th.

SherryPalmer · 27/11/2021 02:16

We always have a real tree and it lasts from beginning of December well into January. Just need to keep it watered.

lborgia · 27/11/2021 04:44

The kids have been pestering every year from about mid November.

When I suggested this weekend, my now-16 yr old announced "for every day a tree is up in November, Santa kills an elf" !!! So that's that!

doodlejump1980 · 27/11/2021 07:08

Always 1st weekend in December

Cariah · 27/11/2021 07:21

In December. When it’s actually Christmas.

Fallagain · 27/11/2021 07:36

First weekend of December.

foodiscomplicated · 27/11/2021 07:38

round about the middle of december. about a week before the big day. I like to take it down on 2 Jan but DH insists on limping through to Twelth Night

delilahbucket · 27/11/2021 07:39

Normally the 30th November in the evening but DH is out and I'm out the evening before and evening after, so we're going to do it tomorrow.

DentalWorries · 27/11/2021 07:48

We’re doing ours today. Only because we don’t have another free weekend day between now and Christmas and I like to make an evening of it and have M&S party food and champagne while we decorate

Hetyanni · 27/11/2021 07:53

The plan was Wednesday but I am very tempted to go for it today...

OrchidPetalsFalling · 27/11/2021 07:56

First week of December. We have a fake tree (although I’d love a real one) so it’s good till January.

zen1 · 27/11/2021 08:00

A week before Christmas or the first weekend of the school holidays. Tend to take them down on 3rd /4th January. Hate the feeling of them being up too long.

loudbatperson · 27/11/2021 08:01

A weekend in about the middle of December, will probably be the 11/12th this year.

Agadorsparticus · 27/11/2021 08:01

Usually around the 10th, down before NYE, around 29th/30th

User5252727 · 27/11/2021 08:01

Usually the first or second weekend in December, depending on how busy we are. This year they're going up on the 5th.

Flyingbymypants · 27/11/2021 08:02

Mid December

BeyondMyWits · 27/11/2021 08:07

I do it by stealth... advent calendar and outside lights 1Dec.... then the wreath and a card holding string, then the fireplace and get the Christmas lego stuff out... then the reindeer shower curtain about 12thDec and then DH will say, "I suppose I could get the tree out of the loft..." job done...

ChangingStates · 27/11/2021 08:07

Dds birthday is 9th December, after that.

Jumpingintochristmas · 27/11/2021 08:15

Usually this weekend but I’m away so planning to do it on Monday instead.

cliffdiver · 27/11/2021 08:18

@Flyingbymypants

Mid December
This.
LublinToDublin · 27/11/2021 08:20

6th December. My birthday is the 5th and the 6th happens to be St Nicholas day so works well Smile

alloalloallo · 27/11/2021 08:23

We usually do it the middle of December.

However, DD1 is home from uni this weekend and isn’t back again until the 18th December so we might put the tree up tonight.

It’s a little bit in the way though, and I get a bit fed up with chasing the cat out of it and taking decorations that the dog has stolen away from her
