Ds is 6 and has asked for 2 things for Christmas.

One is a big hot wheels set, he already has 2 large hot wheels sets and doesn't play with either one and never really did. He's much more into his other toys. Plus we've already bought his main present.

The other toy he's asked for I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. It's something from a TV show and we've searched the Internet and toy shops high and low. He's been asking for this toy 3 years in a row and hasn't forgotten. We bought something similar but he wants the toy that doesn't exist. He's saying that Santa will know so it will be ok. What do we do ? 🤷‍♀️

Do I just relinquish guilt as he does have several nice presents.

Although I've never really got over my parents not buying me an anteater and an al a carte kitchen. Yes I did say an anteater.

Great news. I have one of these stare at out of a neighbouring kids window into the car park. Gave me a shock one dark night!

Great outcome - the power of Mumsnet!

Ahh. I love it when threads like this work out! I remember when my daughter was little and all she asked for was a specific pair of Dora socks. My Brother in law tracked some down in the end and she looked so happy on Christmas Day with her Dora socks!
Ps, get him the hot wheels too, he might ply with it more than you think.

I have one piece of advice on this...
Do not buy the main present until the letter has gone off to Santa/Santa has been visited.
After such time requests cannot be changed because obviously the elves and Santa do need a little notice.

I had to make this rule after a balls up that lead me running around for a bloody hatchimal 3 days before Christmas.

I think maybe buy him one of the Romeo robots that it isn't (it might turn out that when he sees it in real life it is the right one) if the cost isn't prohibitive because he's been asking for 3 years.

Also maybe switch to watching TV on demand of you are watching advertising TV/ YouTube with adverts because those hot wheels ads are amazing..we stayed at my parents for a week and the kids watched advert TV ...never in their lives before have they wanted so many things so much..hats off to the advertisers...they know their job!

Aww, this is a lovely thread.

I look forward to your Boxing Day update OP where he’s more interested in something that came out of a cracker… that would be my kids, anyway 🤣🤣🤣
