Child wants something they won't play with. What to do?

Ds is 6 and has asked for 2 things for Christmas.

One is a big hot wheels set, he already has 2 large hot wheels sets and doesn't play with either one and never really did. He's much more into his other toys. Plus we've already bought his main present.

The other toy he's asked for I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. It's something from a TV show and we've searched the Internet and toy shops high and low. He's been asking for this toy 3 years in a row and hasn't forgotten. We bought something similar but he wants the toy that doesn't exist. He's saying that Santa will know so it will be ok. What do we do ? 🤷‍♀️

Do I just relinquish guilt as he does have several nice presents.

Although I've never really got over my parents not buying me an anteater and an al a carte kitchen. Yes I did say an anteater.

oops posted too soon, yes I never got over never getting that Al acart kitchen too. mind you I probably would've only played with it for 5 mins also.
My Ds got a hot wheels set last year and it has not once been set up and played with. it's a shame he ripped the box open as I could have sold it unopened. he does not seem to bother with or has any interested in toys at all. just interested in gaming on his tablet. I'm really struggling with what to get him this Christmas.

He said it's huge, kind of see through/not filled in and it's a bad guy, it shoots bullets from its head.

This definitely sounds like a dream. Grin

I wouldn't pay so much attention only he's been mentioning this Romeo robot since he was at nursery.

@OffRoadFozzyBear can anyone here remember the cartoon The Ant and the aardvark? I really wanted an anteater. Imagine being my mum in the early 90s trying to source an anteater with no internet.

@Joystir59

Bad parenting encouraging children to want specific gifts rather than waiting to see what Santa brings.
I agree... much better for Santa to bring them stuff they don't really want and then parents can school them in the art of faking gratitude for unappreciated gifts Grin.

@Joystir59 How about changing your user name to Joysponge?

There's a genevieves playhouse with this in it but they were using romeo toy to control it.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 22/11/2021 18:09

Is it one - of - these?

Ilovetobake · 22/11/2021 18:13

Oh my gosh @Scoobygang7 that is the one. I could hug you I really could.

I'm just cooking dinner and keep refreshing this thread showing him these links saying it's not this is it, or this.

He said yes that's it, I've been hoping for it since I was 3

I can remember him seeing that in the toy shop, but it's not PJ masks so I never would have found it.

He's robot mad and has another different imaginext one and a few others.

Can't believe that I really can't.

@Ilovetobake I am glad you've found it. I don't know if it's available anywhere else I just picked the first I found.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 22/11/2021 18:39

Sorry, my link isn’t working but it’s only £13 from Very

Pawpawpaws · 22/11/2021 18:45

Ah what a lovely thread with the happy ending!! Just to say though that the Very cheap version doesn’t have the shooting missiles etc, my DC have that and I didn’t realise there was a more advanced version. I think the one you are after is here in Smyths, bit more pricey
Smyths

Aww, are you bitter about not getting a Mr Frosty too
Pawpawpaws · 22/11/2021 18:48

Or maybe not actually! Sry trying to be helpful and went looking as it’s something my DC would prob love too, but I think I’ve linked to another different one as well Blush
