This is usually my favourite thread to read through and steal ideas from and I haven’t spotted one yet (apologies if I’ve missed it!)

@kagerou, a jumperoo if you don’t already have one? But equally, a 5mo doesn’t really need a ‘big’ gift. Plenty of years ahead for that! The gifts you’ve listed sound lovely.

kagerou · 18/11/2021 09:21

@Etherealhedgehog keepsakes sound lovely! I had thought about a steiff bear but was worried it might be too nice for ger to get messy haha

@CoffeeChocolateWine just googled them and they look great! hadn't heard of a jumperoo before but i think she would love one Star

Etherealhedgehog · 18/11/2021 13:22

@kagerou definitely recommend checking out the Jimmy one (I think it's part of a whole cuddly range) - it was a lot less expensive than I expected and seems like it would be machine washable, though we haven't tried yet!

Willow4987 · 18/11/2021 13:51

I’ve tried to keep things fairly small this year as the children get so much from our families

DS1 (3 years)

  • doctors kit
  • cars duplo set
  • Disney cars car wash - from Santa

DS2 (20 months)

  • playmobil shuttle bus
  • Vtech ice cream cart
  • Disney cars race track - from Santa

They’re also sharing a tonies box and a few characters

I’ve brought a lot of the above on offers so saved quite a bit of money doing it that way

I also expect them to basically share all their presents as they do already so while I’ve split it like this, they’ll play with everything together

They’ll also both get a stocking each from Santa which is only about £15 each, which has a mix of things

  • stickers
  • one book each
  • small bath toy
  • wind up racing snails
  • bluey and bingo small plush toy
Peabody25 · 18/11/2021 20:06

-hype watch
-hype clothes
-hype wallet
-Jumanji game
-sort it out game
-Pokémon battle academy game
-Fimo type stuff
-Nintendo e-shop voucher
-Voucher for afternoon tea
-just eat voucher
-a squishmallow
-tamagotchi

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/11/2021 15:19

I am really struggling with DS who will be 12 on Xmas Day! His list is purely lego and transformers - nothing else inbetween at all, whatsoever! He is ASN and has narrow interests which makes it really hard! Here for inspiration!

DSS16 is getting an electric scooter from the whole family clubbed together.

Then in addition:

A Japan Crate
New boxing gloves
A pull-up bar
A hot sauce set
A poster I've made of him and his mates –I took one of his photos off instagram of them all sitting on a wall and edited it into a silhouette on a background of blue sky and lots of different coloured triangles overlaid across it. Will get it printed A1 size and pick up an IKEA frame tomorrow...

For everyone with young kiddos looking for inspiration... I recommend this website on here every single year and it always goes down a treat (I'm not affiliated with it in any way, I just love it for unusual, reasonably educational kids gifts that aren't boring or plastic tat)

evtheria · 24/11/2021 20:45

@penguinwithasuitcase Brilliant link, thank you.

Rapunzel91 · 25/11/2021 20:35

What's everyone spending on their kids? From the lists it seems like £££, unless a lot is gotten in sales/deals? I'm now thinking I'm cheap!

ReginaFilange001 · 25/11/2021 21:01

@Rapunzel91

What's everyone spending on their kids? From the lists it seems like £££, unless a lot is gotten in sales/deals? I'm now thinking I'm cheap!
For transparency I only have 1 child - that's easier when it comes to funds. I started in July and I save all year. I've listed some prices below

Lol 8 doll band set - on offer £60
Lego friend set - ambulance vet set on offer £15
Microwave warm up teddy £10
Happy napper cat pillow/sleepbag - Amazon fake £12
Bath bomb making set £7.50
Cry babies magic tears house £10
Smiggle fan £5
Gravitrax £35
Chocolate Lolly maker £18
LOL Cherry BB doll £20
Blingle bands small set £10
Illustrated classics book, Smiggle unicorn lock notebook and nature origami set £20

Stocking

Pop a top game £5
Magic flannel £2
Little notebook - £1
Ty teddie £2
Scrunchie 50p
Days of the week socks £4
Nail varnish £2
Lip balm £1
Smiggle erasers £2
Smiggle floresant pens £2
Face mask £1
Disney rings £2
Monsoon unicorn hairbrush - free ( had a voucher )
Monsoon star wings shaker hairclip - as above
Smiggle hair chalk -£3-4
LOL top trumps £5
Bath bomb £2

I got quite a bit at Claire's in the sale in September

Her birthday (6) is about 2 weeks later and she has.

Lol clubhouse £47
Polly pocket spin smoothie set £20 - on offer
Ken doll £8 - middle of lidl
Smiggle backpack £35
Smiggle bottle £10
Smiggle pencil case £15
Luna designafriend - hair glows £50
Designa friend unicorn poncho set £5 sale
Designa friend mermaid outfit set £5 sale
LOL bedding £15
Monsoon unicorn notebook - had a voucher so free
Monsoon Unicorn umbrella - had a voucher so free.

I'm not pretending it's cheap. I look for reduced items and offers where I can. But if it's something that I know my daughter would like and I can't get reduced I will splash out. Some things I think I've paid more for as I purchased early due to being worried about shortages.
