This is usually my favourite thread to read through and steal ideas from and I haven’t spotted one yet (apologies if I’ve missed it!)
This year I am struggling tbh, I feel like my children have or have had every toy imaginable and spend most of their time outside or on screens - so not much to buy on that front!

@DietCokeChipsAndMayo honestly I'm concerned I'm going to end up stuck in a box avalanche if I don't start wrapping soon lol. Theres gifts stuffed in the wardrobe, on top of it, under my bed, even hid some in a laundry basket

It sounds more exciting than what it is (hollow choc sphere wrapped in gold foil, in a HP box). They were on clearance at M&S. I’m sure you could get a nicer one off the official HP shop, DS bought a solid choc frog from there that could double for a paperweight!

@ChilliChaos for your 4 year old how about a playdoh set, we have a hairdresser style one which kids of all ages seek to love
Or for my 6 year old one year I put together a whole sensory kit, so he got a tuff tray (Amazon, £15ish) then lots of things like water beads, kinetic sand, I dyed pasta, rice and lentils and put them in little baggies, lots of funnels, pipettes and scoops, paint and lots of brushes stamps and mini rollers etc etc, we still get a lot of play out of this
Also things he’s loved in the past are things like projector lamps, he got a minecraft weighted blanket for his birthday this year which he was oddly thrilled with and bath toys - we have tube things stuck to the wall next to the bath that he loves to pour water through, and a mini basketball net stick on the tiles - again Amazon fairly cheap
And we always always buy him a voucher for the soft play - if all else fails he can go tire himself out there!

Dd would love the stick insects but once they're hatched what do you do? You can't release them like you do the butterflies can you?? Wondering if I'd end up regretting it as they'd need a tank and stuff?

Got him lots of arts and craft bit along with some shower steamers from Bubble & Bathe as we tried them earlier in the year and he loves them so much, won't shower without them (and to be honest me and my husband love them too)

Also his obsessed with little mix so I got some tickets to see them in May from double8tickets there was a great deal (thats his main present)

I have a child whose birthday is the third week of January and the day before my pay day!) So I have to essentially buy double and split down the middle. It's an especially expensive time of year and to be honest, I often end up buying too much, as every year I adopt the attitude of 'buy as much as I can' and then realise a few weeks before Christmas that I've gone a bit far...

I can’t remember how much I even paid for it.... I brought it direct from alton though... I had intended for it to be his birthday present which is 11 days after Christmas but then I couldn’t think of something else for Christmas so just decided that will do..

My DS increasingly wants very realistic buses that are replicas of the ones he sees in the streets. Word to the wise) Bus collectors models are super expensive new but you can get some good 2nd hand mint in box ones from EBay for about £10-15 pounds each.
