Shamelessly looking for ideas for myself. DH forgot my birthday this year (we had a lot going on) so is wanting ideas of "something decent" to get me this year to make up for it.

I am unreasonably hard to buy for. I'm low maintenance, don't have any particular hobbies, buy myself things when I need them etc. I usually give him a list of stuff like new slippers, face cream, bottle of booze type of thing.

I don't really need or want anything in particular and would be perfectly happy with my usual stuff but he unreasonably wants to get something more substantial.

Sooo what is on your wish list that I might want to ask for?

I’d love tickets to see ABBA Voyage in London, is there any show that you’d like to see or a weekend break anywhere?

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:27

Good ideas thanks. I'm in Scotland so still mandatory masks and all sorts, so I might like to go see something once I could relax and enjoy it. Weekend away maybe, something in the spring to look forward to. I'll put that on the list.

A lovely set of dark red, flannel, plain - no daft patterns whatsoever - cut to fit a woman pyjamas.

Pork pie and thick, brown Sherry would be a nice extra but I’d be delighted with the - serious, we’ll fitting - pyjamas.

Ugg slippers, a foot spa as I get very swollen feet and ankles, some new expensive pjs that I wouldn't buy myself, maybe an oodie (or a cheaper version from m and s).

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:34

Those sound lovely Mrs. Would be too hot for me. We generally have a 1.5 or 2.5 tog duvet, sleep in the buff and are usually still too warm (bedroom isn't heated and windows are open on the latch). I usually get a bottle of Bailies, but I have 2 litres sitting from last year unopened. I don't generally drink a lot anyway but I was off with stress for a lot of this year and really didn't touch booze at all.

2 things: portable tap mat and my dream ring with a padparadscha stone in a cushion cut halo setting.
It's quite expensive so I told about it to DH as a joke. He said ok.😳😱
I don't know if I should, but I have an itchy finger firmly on the fuck it button!

Eliphanbee · 07/11/2021 20:36

I'd love the fitbit charge 5..hoping its on a black friday offer!

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:37

I've never tried UGG slippers, I generally just like a cheap fluffy pair that I can chuck in the wash and are usually worn out by the next Christmas. I'm working from home so spend a lot of time in slippers at the moment. Maybe posher slippers might be a possibility, thanks.

Some bamboo socks, Philip Kingsley Elasticiser, a heated throw, and some new gel nail colours.

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:41

Ring sounds lovely, rings and some basic earrings are about the only jewellery I wear, mainly as I rarely take them off. I've never had an eternity ring so maybe now is time....

I'm sure the fitbits will be on sale at some point, we have a few of the older models floating about the house somewhere but my phone already shouts at me for not doing enough exercise so it doesn't need a buddy :)

A Super Yacht is quite substantialGrin,if that fails,he could do the cooking and washing up for a month.

EatAllDay · 07/11/2021 20:44

I treated myself to good quality slippers. Love them. They’re Hush Puppies.

I’d like a Spa day with 2 hours of treatments including lunch.
A leather bracelet. Just really want one!
Tickets for something you love.
Do you like perfume?
Snuggly hoodie or pjs

AtillatheHun · 07/11/2021 20:45

@youangryeyebrow - Brand Alley has enormous pump containers of Elasticizer... Very giftish ;)

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:46

I have to keep googling to see what you are talking about Smile. I have a small tube of that Philip Kingsly stuff that I got in a M&S gift box thing one year but I've never used it. Hair is currently quite annoying. i need it cut but also lost some when I was peak stressed and that's grown back in so I have a shorter fluffier layer underneath. To be honest I hadn't really noticed but when I got my hair cut in the summer, the hairdresser asked if I'd been feeling okay as she could tell by my hair that I'd been ill. I can notice it now though, a bit like that fluffy layer you get after you've had a baby.

@ElephantOfRisk

yeah, it'd be in lieu of an eternity ring.
I just love it!

Oooh thank you! 😍

BruiserWoods · 07/11/2021 20:48

I'd like an Alex Monroe hummingbird necklace.

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:50

A yacht would be substantial!! He does all the clearing up after cooking already but I (mostly) enjoy cooking.

I'm not a big perfume person. I like to have something to put on going out but it lasts me ages.

I do like the thought of the cosy PJs, hoodies and oodies but if I'm honest I wouldn't wear them, i'd just be too hot.

See I said I was hard to buy for! You lot are great though, I hope you all get the things on your lists.

Very nice Zing! That necklace looks nice too Bruiser. I just don't think I'd wear it really.

Nigel Slater's Christmas book. Cashmere hat snd gloves, I get rotten headaches from the cold wind in winter. New gardening gloves.

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 20:56

Hmm a lot of the more expensive slippers seem to have hard soles, I like soft felt type things but I will keep looking for maybe more expensive and long lasting ones than my usual options.

Things I tend to treat myself to are books, audiobooks, in game currency for games (like simpsons tapped out, which is kind of addictive). Oh and food, a takeaway or something nice (good steak, salmon etc).

ClassicFMsavedmycat · 07/11/2021 21:03

Tickets to Mamma Mia in London
L’Occitane Herbae perfume / hand cream / soap.
Sophie Conran at Portmeirion mugs / travel cup / little dishes.
Voucher for teeth whitening / lip fillers 😂

ElephantOfRisk · 07/11/2021 21:04

I like to keep my car nice (more so than my house as it's easier to control being a small area!) so he just suggested getting it valeted/detailed for me, and then we've both come to the same conclusion that it would be a waste of money as it isn't dirty. I then suggested a nice hand held vacuum but he thinks that's not really a gift for me (though i think it is as it would be me using it) I can sort of see his point, but I would like one as it would be easier than dragging out the big one for the 10 minutes it takes to run over it weekly..

SoItWas · 07/11/2021 21:05

If I was going to really treat myself, it would probably be to some random electronic gadget (or a few). Smart bulbs maybe, or a new TV for my bedroom. If I had the cash, a new laptop.
