Harry potter gift ideas wanted

ADreadedSunnyDay · 22/09/2021 18:01

DS (8) is harry potter mad this year and I'm looking to capitalise on this for his presents. Any ideas of cool or unusual Hogwards / Harry Potter themed gifts? I had half thought of buying a small trunk and filling it with gifts but then saw the price of them (and the disclaimer that they weren't very strong).

So we have all the books, DVDs, the snitch toy from Aldi (a bit rubbish), Voldemort's wand and robe, plus HP robes, we've tried bertie botts every flavour beans (truly vile), HP scrabble ... any other ideas?? Oh yes and DS has lots of HP lego (Hagrid's hut is on the list as we haven't got that)

HP Dobble???

RoobyMyrtle · 22/09/2021 18:10

Last year I bought a glass jar, tied a honeydukes gift tag on it I bought from eBay. Filled it with hp type sweets eg sherbet lemons, chocolate frogs, Halloween sweets. It went down very well and I had fun putting it together

House scarf, hat, gloves?

Charm bracelet - you can get them in leather.

Harry Potter Lego games for Xbox/ PS

Quidditch pyjamas

A ‘Weasley’ Jumper with your son’s initial?

Top Trumps

Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit

ZoChan · 22/09/2021 18:12

Dunelm have a glow in the dark bed set for £20 that I've stashed for DS!

ADreadedSunnyDay · 22/09/2021 18:14

Oh we have top trumps but some of the other ideas are great too

I have this and love it:

www.amazon.co.uk/Radica-N2442-Harry-Potter-20Q/dp/B0012PZJPS?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Not sure I would pay that price for it though (assuming it’s no longer made) and may lose interest for a child fairly quickly, but worth considering!

Marauder’s Map heat change mug
Golden Snitch lamp

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 22/09/2021 18:15

There are great mugs around, marauders map ones for example where the map appears when the mug heats up. My ds1 has a cauldron one they he absolutely adores and he isn't even much of a HP fan.

Have you considered the studio tour? It is expensive so may not be feasible.

Marks and Spencer's do loads of lovely Harry Potter clothing.

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 22/09/2021 18:16

There is a Harry Potter cluedo board game I saw in Waterstones which my son wants (he likes cluedo already).

JassyRadlett · 22/09/2021 18:16

We have a HP coding wand which is quite good.

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 22/09/2021 18:16

They're is a Lego Hedwig too

GinGella · 22/09/2021 18:17

When my DD was smaller I got an old leather suitcase from a charity shop and made it into a HP trunk style gift with a scarf robe and some other bits and tickets for HP studios. HP cludeo is really fun actually more popular than the original even now here!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/09/2021 18:17

Harry Potter Cluedo
Magical Beasts game
Soft toy snowy owl

I saw this in Smyths the other day...
www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/action-figures-and-playsets/harry-potter/harry-potter-catch-the-golden-snitch-card-game/p/198502
On my list for this Christmas for DDs.

The Lego Hedwig is very cool.

AppleKatie · 22/09/2021 18:18

M&S t shirts and house hoodies are great quality and wash well.

Harry Potter dobble is a must.

I saw a quidditch type card/board game cross the other day which I’m considering for DS (£20 in Smyths £60 on Amazon so so be careful!)

Floralnomad · 22/09/2021 18:18

There is a fairly new HP Lego set of the owl , quite expensive but looks really great ( our son bought it ) . A couple of years ago we got our son tickets for the HP studios and put them in with some merchandise from the 9 3/4 shop .

AppleKatie · 22/09/2021 18:18

Oh x post! The one linked above my first post is what I mean!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/09/2021 18:18

Jim Kay has illustrated a new book called A Year at Hogwarts (or something like that) which looks lovely.

HeidiHaus · 22/09/2021 18:22

There are often lots of little HP things in Primark, that would be a good place to start.

NameChangeinHaste · 22/09/2021 18:24

The HP trivial pursuit game.
DS answers those when we play TP and then thrashes us all, whilst I whine that it’s unfair!

ChirpyChirp · 22/09/2021 18:25

Harry Potter Pictionary Air (you draw with a wand - looks fun!)

We love HP Cluedo and Dobble.

Yellow85 · 22/09/2021 18:26

The Hogwarts stationary set is a huge hit in our house. They write letters to their friends and use the wax seals

Darceyhemingway · 22/09/2021 18:29

I love HP trivial pursuit. Dobble is fun too

maxineputyourredshoeson · 22/09/2021 18:30

This was one of DD’s favourite presents.
AliceMcK · 22/09/2021 18:40

Lots of HP stuff will be popping up everywhere. My 7yo wants an invisibility cloak this year. I’ve also got her and my 9yo the following hp bits: From Aldi - HP box, Tom Riddle diary and wand, HP colouring sheets, talking Dobby. From Primark - HP house pens, notebooks, headbands, lip balms, compact mirror. From Wish - HP tshirts, quill set. I’ve also got my dd a signed picture of Hermione from Amazon.

Other things we have, HP trivial pursuit, my DDs love it. HP board game, top trumps, lots of notepads, pens, books, we have ones on spells, wands, marauders map, wands, dolls, soft toys, bedding, cushions and lots of Lego sets.
