that was last years picture, i'd need to do something else this year

might borrow a friends sheep costume and do a shepherd sheep combo

naff

Katz · 28/11/2007 13:16

i'm on the fence about it

Not naff - get a real sheep - go on

Buda · 28/11/2007 13:18

I like it for family or people who don't get to see your DCs very often. I like receiving them or getting a photo in a card.

That picture is very cute!

Dh's American cousin sends us one every year. I usually snort with laughter (and not in a good way).

do it, unless they are 18 and 20 lol

Its nice, people love getting them if they are family or close friends

Katz · 28/11/2007 13:21

bear - the DD's would never stand close enough to a real sheep for a photo to work, although i have to say am very tempted to go to the city farm and photo graph a real sheep to put on my christmas cards this year!

ok since general concenus is not naf then how do i top lasts years photo, which i thnk is one of the best of my dd's together, i'd perfer a religious theme.

Katz · 28/11/2007 13:33

What's wrong with naff? All the best xmas stuff is naff - tinsel, selection boxes, artificial snow, people who put a trillion lights on their house, baby jesus... well maybe not the last one but you get my drift.

Ahhh,I love it all.

Katz · 28/11/2007 13:43

i LOVE Christmas

I'm thinking of going for this years card:

  1. Angel and mary
  2. King and camel
  3. Mary recieving a sheep from a shepherd
  4. Mary receieving a gift from a king
  5. Mary and Joseph

for a brief while I considred photoshopping wings onto a pic of dd to cut out and use as tree decorations

actually after the last world cup my sister and I did the same with a pic of Jponny Wilkinson and emailed the template to all our mates

he was on half the trees in Putney, I tell ya

Surfermum · 28/11/2007 19:52

Do it, especially if they're 18 and 20.

But I send a round robin, so I really can't comment on naffness or otherwise.

artichokes · 28/11/2007 19:54

Naff but in a good way. Not good for colleagues etc but great for family and friends. Would you not much prefer a photo card (tastleful or otherwise) than a boring picture of three men following a star?

TopsyandTim · 28/11/2007 19:58

My sister and I did this last year. We had my DD (2.5) as Mary, her DD (5) as the Angel, her DS (1) as a shepherd and my DS (6mo) as baby Jesus. They were all dressed up in costumes and looked soooo cute. Mind you, it took me and my sister and my mum AGES to get them all arranged and smiling at the same time!!! But the end photo was fab and the great grandparents loved it.

TheApprentice · 28/11/2007 19:58

I thought my answer was going to be its naff, and then I saw the photo! Its gorgeous!

I am planning to put photos of my ds inside cards of people who have never seen him/hardly see him and who I know would like to see what he looks like. I wont be sending them to people he sees a lot or people who obviously wouldnt be interested or who might be upset (thinking of a friend who is having no luck conceiving).

thanks - glad you all liked last years photo, i have decided to do it again, dd1 is an angel in the school play so i will be buying her a new angel costume since last years is a little small now so i will get dd2 to choose a costume too possibly the mary one, i like that combo.

will use the quote
Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.

or words to that effect

I think it's a great idea. Bargain from snapfish, might try that. And Mrs badger - Jonny has been the angel on top of my Christmas tree since the last World Cup too!

ja9 · 28/11/2007 20:16

i LOVE your photo!!!

this year i have used a pic of dcs for family and friends i rarely see. next year i'm going to dress them up nativity style like in your pic. So cute!

AllBuggiedOut · 28/11/2007 20:54

Do it again - so much better than enclosing a photo of your kids with a normal card! (Got mine printed today at Sainsbury's - our local one has 150 digital prints for £7.99.)
