Agree it is a nice photo however I think both cards with photos and round robins are naff.

CindersNeedsHelp · 29/11/2007 15:18

I like this type of thing for close, personal family only. I want to do a similar thing with my 19 mo DS, but I don?t have a costume. I don?t really want to buy one though, they?re so expensive. I?m no good at making them either. Any thoughts? Any offers?

And Katz, why not use the actual bible verse (Luke 1:30-31 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.?) ?? Just a thought?

AllBuggiedOut · 29/11/2007 21:19

If you can edit photos on your computer, Cinders, you don't need a costume - just draw on a santa hat/antlers/halo or whatever.

Katz · 29/11/2007 21:28

thanks for that cinders thats the verse i was looking for!

doing it once when they're tiddly is just about ok .. particularly for proper friends who don't see them that often

doing it annually is just naff I'm afraid

so no not again

DO it Do It DO IT they look so cute

sophy · 30/11/2007 13:32

It is not naff it is perfectly acceptable to put a photo of your children on your xmas card. A lot of very non-naff people do it. Trust me, I know.

We will be doing it this year, although I also have a stash of normal charity cards for neighbours, colleagues etc who we don't know particularly well.

bogie · 30/11/2007 15:36

i use vista print and they were good

lemonaid · 30/11/2007 15:50

I think the fact that it's a Christmas story-themed photograph lifts it out of the range of potentially naff (e.g. children in Santa hats) and into the realm of the quirkily distinctive.

chocchipchristmascake · 30/11/2007 15:53

Who cares if it's naff.

When I got to forty I threw out all notions of taste, what is 'right' decoratively and embraced my naff inner child.

Do what you like and have fun.

TellusMater · 30/11/2007 15:56

Look, if the people you are sending them to will love it, bugger naffness.

Are they judgy types?

Katz · 30/11/2007 17:27

thanks, just having a re-think on the theme, think the dd's will both be angels just want to come up a nice bible quote to go with.

Luke 2:10

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Katz · 30/11/2007 17:58

oh like that

just have to get a good photo now!

Go for it. I've seen the Christsmas cards I do featuring my DDs every year on friends's fridges well into September, so they must go down well. I started doing them because DD2 was seriously ill when she was born and I wanted to send something special to the hospital staff. Since then, I've had a lot of positive remarks from DD2's consultants plus friends and family. They make people smile and stand out from the pack.

I use Vistaprint and get oversized postcards done with a message on the back (just got 100 for £18.99 inc one week delivery). That means no envelope stuffing and no endless signing (cheeky I know, but people seem to be too distracted by the gorgeous creatures on the front to care).

chocchipchristmascake · 30/11/2007 19:32

Patsy, you don't sign them!!!!

I got mine from kodakgallery - FIVE photos of the DC's no less in an accordian card which means the front is a plainish wreath design and the photos are inside.

They have our names printed, but I planned on signing them.

Can you really get away with just stuffing them in the envelope?

geordiemacminx · 30/11/2007 19:40

I've done one this year.... picture is on profile if anyone wants to have a look (proud mummy emoticon)

I think they are lovely for family.

piximon · 30/11/2007 21:59

I think photo cards are great. Better than a card that gets binned anyway.

We put a pic of the DCs into the xmas cards each year. Was nice and easy the first time but last year was tough enough getting two to pose, have no idea how to get all four this year.

PatsyCline · 01/12/2007 19:17

Chocchipchristmacake, I am shocking and not only do I not sign them, but I don't put them in an envelope (unless they are going abroad).

I am a very bad person.

liath · 01/12/2007 21:45

I have to confess but I loathe getting cards with other people's kids on. Just about Ok for family but otherwise naff naff naff. Sorry.

PatsyCline · 02/12/2007 18:49

I truly can't imagine opening a card featuring children and loathing it.

Bah humbug, Liath. I don't care if I'm naff. I'm too busy spreading seasonal joy.

CharlieAndLolasMummy · 02/12/2007 20:47

yes its naff, I actually think its MORE naff with kids dressed up in the nativity thingy somehow but

It bloody CHRISTMAS. If you can't be naff at Christmas, when can you be naff?

As long as you keep it to the small number of people who actually feel similarly about your kids you'll be fine. Perhaps not so much for a. work collegues b. parent and toddler cronies, but aside from that

chocchipchristmascake · 02/12/2007 20:55

Dear Patsy

Not are you are a bad person but you are a bad influence on me. All I have written is 'Love from' above our printed names, I was planning on writing them out before i met you. It is just a short step to writing nothing at all. The teacher says we can't sit next to each other any more.

Yours CCCC
