I haven't seen this thread yet and it's one I enjoy - the annual game of fridge jenga!

Here is ours - no meat in there yet so not sure where that is going to fit 😬

There is lots of booze & juice as well as prawn cocktail, squirty cream & double cream, red cabbage, Savoy cabbage, sprouts, a gazillion cheeses

Place marking ready for tomorrow when I collect my Turkey and Gammon (and have wiped the fridge out a bit 😊). Love this thread every year.
We are still allowed fun.

00100001 · 22/12/2020 11:46

@formerbabe

I don't understand why anyone needs so much this year...surely you don't all have hordes of guests arriving?
Of course we do, we're greedy bastards.

Bring on the food.

Plus it is perfectly acceptable for people to have 3 households on Christmas Day. In anywhere but Tier 4.

00100001 · 22/12/2020 11:48

@formerbabe

Sorry but I'm not buying the scrimping and saving line to fill up my huge American style fridge freezer with booze, seafood and meat line. It's really insulting to people who are genuinely scrimping and saving.
🙄

Why not go and jump on the Christmas Tree threads.... Complain to them that not everyone can afford such nice trees.

And the 'what can I buy my 8yo niece' threads.
. not everyone has nieces!!

In fact start a campaign to ban the Christmas board, because bit everyone celebrates Christmas.

Oh and

@MintyCedric

Forgot the pic!
How exciting...we have the same Fridge! 😃

A tree is an added extra...food is a necessity...can you see the difference? It's not too difficult.

SadSeal · 22/12/2020 11:55

This is mine. Not going to lie, I'm slightly jealous looking at all the lovely food you all have for Christmas. Oh well, better luck next year eh.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 11:56

@formerbabe - rude and passive aggressive!! Shock I was just concerned about you! But while you're being rude to me I'll tell you I find your virtue signalling comments patronising! Just because we use Food banks does not mean we can't enjoy Christmas and yeah - maybe our fridges will look full for once, maybe we have a little stash of mince pies and chocolates we were given by the Salvation Army! I might be poor but I'm not stupid - I know others have more than us and I wish them a Merry Christmas all the same!

Clutterbugsmum · 22/12/2020 11:59

Dear god the Fucking Fun police are out in force. It's been a shit year stop complaining about how people are doing their Christmas.

OP and everyone else who have shown their fridges enjoy you Christmas with all the nice food you have got in.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 11:59

@SadSeal - do you have a food bank you could use? They'll give you some tins and packets and a few Christmas treats too.

formerbabe · 22/12/2020 12:00

@underthecedartree

Oh fgs, I could practically see the head tilt...with the faux concern "are you a foodbank user?"

Well fyi seeing as you're so concerned about me I'm not a good bank user, never have been nor am I on benefits... My dh works and I'm a sahm. Hth.

I just find it crass for someone to post a photo of a full to bursting huge fridge in what looks like a lovely kitchen from the small amount we can see then tell us about how they've scrimped and saved to fill it.

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 22/12/2020 12:01

You could feed the whole foodbank with that fridge Xmas Hmm

Not sure why you'd need so much for one or two days of the year.

SadSeal · 22/12/2020 12:02

I'd rather not go to the food bank as so many people in my area especially are early struggling so don't want to take from those who really need it. I won't starve but I'm certainly not having a luxurious Christmas. I think the goady people on this thread need to see the harsh reality for some people. And on top of that they are trying to rub it in! Hope it makes them feel good.

JorisBonson · 22/12/2020 12:02

@formerbabe

Do you moonlight as the Grinch?

Maybe OP is proud that's she's managed to save enough to fill the fridge and give her family a good Christmas feast. Why do you have to shit all over it?

Splann · 22/12/2020 12:03

Our fridge at Christmas is usually full to bursting, requiring careful re-organising every few days. It’s a thing of beauty that needs professional handling! We normally have about 15 people over for Christmas including lots staying for an extended period.

This year it’s 6 of us (Tier 1) so it looks fairly unimpressive. On the plus side it’s much cheaper this year and far less work. Silver linings eh!?

YellowHighlighterPen · 22/12/2020 12:03

I've had a revelation today. It's the first Christmas without XH and I'd accused him for decades of buying far too much Christmas food. Err...nope...guiltyBlushSmile
I have got 3 adult males to feed though.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 12:08

@formerbabe - head tilt? Stop judging others by your standards. Some of us actually care about others - not sure why that is so hard to believe. And it's telling you had to make sure everyone knows you have never used a food bank! Well, good for you! Hope you never get unwell and struggle. Keep telling yourself how great you are for telling us poor how much you pity us!

pipnchops · 22/12/2020 12:10

@damnthemanatee fridge goals right there, that is the neatest fridge I've ever seen! To be fair though I don't usually look in other people's fridges and mine is a mess! I've just had my weekly shop delivered and my fridge (which is a small one with a freezer underneath) is no fuller than it usually is! It's just going to be a pretty standard week food wise really, with the roast dinner on Friday instead of Sunday! I have bough a lot more chocolate, biscuits, crisps and nuts than usual though!

formerbabe · 22/12/2020 12:11

Bit of a weird interpretation...just making the point I'm not jealous before I'm accused of being.....nor do you have to be struggling to find it crass to see people boasting.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 12:12

@SadSeal - we're not having a luxurious Christmas either but we've had some food from the Salvation Army to see us through and a few treats too. I've not eaten dinner for a couple of weeks so I could buy fresh bits for our Christmas dinner. It's been difficult for the last 3 years but we still enjoy ourselves and have a happy Christmas. Hope you can too Xmas Smile

EveningOverRooftops · 22/12/2020 12:19

My fridge is half photographic film at this point (covid/lockdown and Sen DC massively put a spanner in the works) so fridge jenga is going to be a massive issue tomorrow 🤣

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 12:20

@formerbabe - not really a strange interpretation - it would never occur to me that checking if someone was ok would be seen negatively or passive aggressive - as the saying goes 'it takes one to know one' - it is because you are like that you assume others are to. FYI - I'm autistic - there's no hidden meaning in what I write! Noone's boasting - just having a bit of fun on the Christmas board! That's what it's about! My fridge is half the size of the OPs and not really completely full but it looks full to us. I'm certainly not boasting - just joining in on a fun thread!

formerbabe · 22/12/2020 12:23

It read as slightly sarcastic to me but I totally accept it wasn't as you confirmed.

Backbee · 22/12/2020 12:25

@formerbabe so you're assuming how people who are struggling are feeling, that's even worse to be honest. FFS.

Friendsoneuptown · 22/12/2020 12:26

May be people have family coming over. Life doesn’t stop in London and the South East. It everyone is in tier 4.

May be posters have a big family and may be fill a fridge like this every week with a shop. They add 2/3 extra bits such as pigs in blankets or stuffing.

May be posters have saved all year to have what they do in the fridge.

May be posters spend their bonus on what is in their fridge.

May be, just may be posters bloody well want to because it’s been a rubbish year.

May be all of these posters have donated to food banks and local charities throughout the year.

FestiveStrop · 22/12/2020 12:28

M/C people sometimes think they're classy posting what they HAVE ready for Christmas. When in reality it's the height of bad taste and really very vulgar, especially now.

Along the lines of posting crass photos of zillions of plastic tat presents.

I can only guess they've never been in a situation where you can't afford Christmas.

Well done.
