Would you be upset if you received a Hoover ( a rumba) for Christmas?

Because I think my DP has got me one 😭. We don’t live together so it would solely be used at my house. I have a very strong inkling this has what he has got me for Christmas. I have mentioned them once or twice as in saying they’re a good idea but in no way would I actually want for Christmas, I only have a tiny house with 2 rooms downstairs and 2 upstairs (plus bath room upstairs) and it takes 2 mins run my
Current Hoover around

I am not ungrateful at all and if he has got me one I will act happy and surprise and he’s obviously listening to me which can only be good but I’ll be so disappointed. I had a big birthday earlier this year and he made so much effort which was amazing but the gift he got me totally and utterly missed the mark.

I know this is a first world problem and as I say IF he has gotten me one I’ll act really pleased and thank him but I don’t know, a Hoover just seems a bit flat

I would love it! But I’ve repeatedly threatened to buy one so DH would know I’d be delighted! But if it was my only present I’d be annoyed. as

I’ve got him an ironing board cover but it’s only because he keeps complaining about the current one being crap every time he does his ironing. I got it with my last shopping delivery but I’m just wrapping it up as a present as a joke since it’s Christmas in two days time. Any other time of the year, I’d just put it on the board without fanfare.

This is why I either buy my own present (which I've done this year) or send my husband links Wink

Yes I'd be upset unless I specifically asked for one. Tools for chores are not an exciting xmas present!

I got one! Yay!

I would be very disappointed

No, household appliances are not presents. And you shouldn't act all happy and pleased. You don't need to kick off, just simply tell him a vacuum is not a gift.

I got one! Yay!

You will enjoy it. I take great satisfaction to hearing it rolling around while I’m on work calls.

It’s a completely unnecessary gadget which is what makes is different to household object type gifts. Kind of like getting a coffee machine/an Alexa/a Kitchen Aid etc - unnecessary things you want but don’t really want to spend your own money on.

I love my roomba, however it's something we got as a joint home purchase. I'm not sure I would like it as a present. My DH is very thoughtful with gifts.

In your situation, OP, I'm not sure is the roomba here, but rather the expectation of getting engaged Xmas Sad Maybe he doesn't want to associate your engagement with Christmas, but rather to make it a special, stand alone, event!

Did he get you one in the end op?
