My husband has been working away this autumn/winter and getting back for Christmas is very up in the air so with 3 girls have had to be very organised, I’m now down to my final list which is practically unheard of for me...

Pants for eldest DD’s stockings
Brown parcel paper
Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger Gin for MIL
Nice biscuits for DD’ tutor and Great Grandparents
Mixing bowl for youngest DD’s baking hamper
Skittles for the Elves (don’t ask)
Baileys miniatures to go in with a few thank you gifts
Christmas cards sent
Sainsbury’s Christmas shop completed
Money out for Chinese on Christmas Eve
Crackers
Dads Birthday Card (Boxing Day)
Pickles for my youngest’s stocking (again don’t ask!!!)
Some school Christmas admin
DH’s stocking

(There may be a few more things to add!!) anyone want to tick off their lists with me)

One of DD's presents apparently isn't arriving before Christmas so I've decided to get her a Designafriend doll. Just need to make the difficult decision- do I get the one with the maroon lipstick or the one with the luminous rainbow hair Grin

Secret Santa presents x 6

Wrapping paper!

Small present for DH- we're not doing presents this year so just something small for him to open on the day

Presents for ILs - which I refuse to buy this year, leaving it to him- and DM

I8toys · 08/12/2020 10:15

Gluten free food for FIL's hamper
Running jacket dh
Mum's birthday cards - christmas eve

I'm twitching so anything else that catches my eye

snowmanshoes · 08/12/2020 10:54

I feel like I’ve been saying I’m all done for weeks but then remember things still to do/buy....

Youngest dad backtracked on a few smallish things (all related) in November and luckily I had of bought so I do need something to add to her pile I think 🤔 but need to get everything out and wrap first....

Need a few bottles of wine/baileys etc to hand out

Desperately need chenille socks for both dds as I gifted theirs to someone else and haven’t been able to replace them - who IS buying all the chenille socks 😆 (especially non-pink ones!)

Much more snacks

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/12/2020 11:03
  • something for my Dad. I think I need a visit to the garden centre.
  • take the DDs shopping to chose a present for each other.
  • wrap everything
  • meet with my brother to exchange gifts (halfway between London and the Midlands, on behalf of my parents etc)
  • food shopping- 23rd/24th

I feel organised now.

InDubiousBattle · 08/12/2020 11:09

I feel like I still have a lot to do but we're planning on a couple of very quiet weekends!
Wrap all of the family presents. I'm hoping his will be a bit of an activity with the kids, I've bought plain paper and stamps etc.
Buy some vouchers for adult nephew and his girlfriend
Finalise big shop
Order a picture calendar on line. Need to do this really quickly!

What have you put in your dd's baking hamper? I'm thinking if doing one for my 5 year old!

santasmincepie · 08/12/2020 11:18

Great idea for a thread! I need somewhere to write down my to do list.

I started in August but still feel like I've got loads left to do. Very glad I started early as my boss caught Covid and has been quite ill so work has been crazy!

I still need to get:

  • presents for PIL
  • presents for BIL and SIL x 2
  • something else for SIL on the other side!
  • some chocolate for DP
  • beer for DP's uncle
  • something for gran and great aunt
  • selection box for friend's DS
  • secret santa present
  • table presents x 5
  • lots of food
  • mulled wine for christmas eve box (we do a family one)

Oh god it looks even worse written down. Really need to get organised!

CosyQueen · 08/12/2020 11:21

I’m 99% all done and wrapped!
I just need to get something chocolate/sweets for DS stocking,
an Amazon gift card for my mum to go with her other bits,
And then just do the Christmas food shop.

junglepie · 08/12/2020 11:28

Ooh good idea for a thread. I woke up in the night and my brain was in overdrive trying to think of all the last bits that I needed to. I have this morning updated my spreadsheet (yes, I am that sad Grin) so feel a bit more in control. So, my list:

Buy some nice wrapping paper for dh gifts
Buy sherry for Mum
Buy a book for Dad
Order voucher for niece
Finalise morrisons Christmas order
Wrap oldest 3 dc gifts (youngest 3 are done)
Order one more item for oldest dd
Buy Red wine
Order gift bags for christmas eve bags
Order Bath bombs for Christmas eve bags
Make mince pies
Make Christmas biscuits
Ice Christmas cake

May be more.... Will have a think

junglepie · 08/12/2020 11:29

Oh yes... Need to get a secret santa gift, thanks for reminding me!

MarshmallowManiac · 08/12/2020 11:52

Anordinarymum last year I wouldn't have put my tree up and got many of the presents, but thought because of the year that's been in it, and all the uncertainty that I would try hard to get it earlier. Just as well as heard y/day that had to isolate. Still a few presents to buy and of course food but that is not yet.

Lolly49 · 08/12/2020 11:57

@Anordinarymum

Are you people from another planet? I haven't even put the tree up yet let alone the presents

2 little presents for DH
5 stocking fillers for DD
More sellotape
Presents for DH from youngest 2 DSs
Wrap Santa presents
Wrap extended family presents
Hand cream for DSis
Buy more snacks as everyone keeps eating them
Find new place to stash snacks
Buy more crackers
Buy and send Christmas cards (and buy stamps!)

Mrsfussypants1 · 08/12/2020 17:55

2 x A3 picture frames, I'm waiting for the pics to arrive before I decide which frames
1x amazon gift card for FIL (DHs task)
1× Boots gift card for MIL (DH task)
Cellotape
Gift bags x2
Gift wrap in 4 different designs for 4 different people ( DH, DM, DB and a friend)
Need to buy turkey basiter & thermometer
Wouldn't mind buying a tv guide for nostalgia
Lottery tickets to buy for a couple of family members that I put with their gifts

I'm nearly done apart from the above list. Food is ordered, drink is in the garage, hair appointment booked, outfits sorted and plans to do safe drop offs of gifts sorted. I always start early and still some how end up running round last minute but I feel like I'm on top form this year. Saying that, Christmas eve, once everything is shut I'll realise I've forgotten something, I always do. Last year it was razors for me and id planned on wearing a skirt.

TeaOneSugar · 08/12/2020 18:45

I'm pretty much done, I need to write and post cards and finalise my Christmas Eve shopping order.

I've put the tree and trimmings up and for once the house is fairly clean and tidy (thanks to wfh since March and isolating twice) I've got a list of deep cleaning type jobs to do before Christmas, but I've booked a couple of days leave next week, so that shouldn't be too bad.

I've been quite poorly recently so I needed to be organised and not leave it to a last minute panic I might not manage.

FizzyPink · 08/12/2020 18:56

I’m pretty pleased with how much I’ve done already this year.

  • Need to think of and buy a present for my dad
  • Buy and post a grandmother card
  • Confirm Tesco order
  • Buy scratch cards for Christmas Day bingo
  • Write the Christmas Day quiz
  • Make a couple of candles for various family members
  • Extra small present for my step dad
  • Pick out and potentially buy a few new outfits for the Christmas period
  • Pack to go to my parents and then two nights away before New Year which had to be postponed earlier in the year
junglepie · 08/12/2020 18:58

My list is too long to even think about at the minute but this has inspired me to think about it!
