My husband has been working away this autumn/winter and getting back for Christmas is very up in the air so with 3 girls have had to be very organised, I’m now down to my final list which is practically unheard of for me...

Pants for eldest DD’s stockings
Brown parcel paper
Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger Gin for MIL
Nice biscuits for DD’ tutor and Great Grandparents
Mixing bowl for youngest DD’s baking hamper
Skittles for the Elves (don’t ask)
Baileys miniatures to go in with a few thank you gifts
Christmas cards sent
Sainsbury’s Christmas shop completed
Money out for Chinese on Christmas Eve
Crackers
Dads Birthday Card (Boxing Day)
Pickles for my youngest’s stocking (again don’t ask!!!)
Some school Christmas admin
DH’s stocking

(There may be a few more things to add!!) anyone want to tick off their lists with me)

Need to buy something for Ddad
Some nice choc for DP to go with hos other gifts
Then just the xmas food and drink, I'll try and get something non-perishable every couple of days whenever I'm in the supermarket (like roses, cranberry, bottle of booze etc) then big shop on 23rd

FizzyPink · 08/12/2020 19:24

@Tiredmummyof3 it’s mainly so our elderly guests have something to join in on as they find anything more complicated tricky. I have this bingo game from TKMaxx and then just buy a couple of scratch cards for the winners
www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/home/hobbies+leisure/games+puzzles/black-bingo-cage-20x20cm/p/36013567

Tiredmummyof3 · 08/12/2020 19:55

@fizzypink ahh I see, the scratch cards are a prize! Great idea! It's our first Christmas just the 5 of us, we usually have a large family gathering so trying to think of different things to do! I will pinch this idea! Thank you! Seems I'm adding to my list! 🤣

CoodleMoodle · 08/12/2020 20:05

Big USB Stick for DM to back her photos onto (what she asked for)

Jigsaw for DH (specific one that is clearly very popular as it's out of stock EVERYWHERE)

Something for MIL (got FIL a jigsaw, want something comparable for MIL!)

Possibly a present for DD's best friend (they're 6/7 so fairly easy)

One more thing for DS from DM (specific Duplo set that is, again, hard to find)

Christmas jumpers for me, DH and DM (will wear more than once)

Couple more pieces of tinsel from B&M (had just enough for the tree this year, want to have more than enough for next year and they're always changing their range so need to get it this year!)

TimeToCloseTheDoor · 08/12/2020 20:14

Great thread!

I’m waiting on Bakedin to deliver the correct mug gift sets, they have let me keep the 5 sent in error so all is forgiven. I need to wrap these as gift sets.

Still waiting for Hollister to deliver DD’s present which also needs wrapping.

I have a food shop being delivered on the 21st so I need to finish buying/clicking inc a hotel chocolate bar to go with the QVC HC Velvetiser.

I’m looking at making table centre pieces this year which will either have the family gobsmacked I can be crafty or taking the piss out of me all over Christmas but fortunately I give not 1 fuck one way or the other!

Need to buy scratch cards and read this thread to no doubt add more things to do/buy.

Aponcetasticchristmastoall · 08/12/2020 20:26

So glad so many of you want to join in, another few ticked off and one added...😬

I do always have a week where I feel like I’m chasing my tail at this time of year but I’m still fairly happy with how it’s going...

Pants for eldest DD’s stockings
Brown parcel paper
Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger Gin for MIL
Nice biscuits for DD’ tutor and Great Grandparents
Mixing bowl for youngest DD’s baking hamper
Skittles for the Elves (don’t ask)
Baileys miniature thank you gifts
Christmas cards sent
Sainsbury’s Christmas shop completed
Money out for Chinese on Christmas Eve
Crackers
Dads Birthday Card (Boxing Day)
Pickles for my youngest’s stocking (again don’t ask!!!)
school Christmas admin
DH’s stocking
Two presents for DD’s Friends

All presents bought - just need to wrap.

Need to buy all fresh food, booze and do click and collect on 23rd & 24th.
Got hair cut & colour on 16th, and nails, brows and waxing on 23rd.

Just got to do all the housework and change to Christmas bedding and towels.

goose1964 · 08/12/2020 21:59

All presents bought, less wrapping as we've had to send presents rather than delivering in person.
Tomorrow I need to buy muslins
Get silver paint and blue
Main job is to plan the menu, for three adults but maybe five plus a young child.
Tree's up
And so are decorations.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/12/2020 22:21

I'm far more prepared than ever before as I have fewer things to buy and the kids are teen/young adult rather than children anymore.
I was stuck at home this morning waiting for a phone call so I sat and wrapped all the gifts for the family members instead of leaving it til nearly Christmas eve! Just have the kid's ones to do now.

Still to get...

Mini bottle of bucks fizz.
Bird food for Aunty.
Bottle merlot for stb-Bil.
tshirt for DH (ordered)
Nuts in shells to go in DH's nut-bowl-with-nutcracker that I've bought him.
Something that DD1 seems interested in when she comes home from uni!
A bit more makeup for DD2.

Boymumzy · 09/12/2020 02:23

Basically all done and wrapped, turkey in the freezer, click and collect ordered, just waiting for a few deliveries, got to order an outfit for DH, socks for all 4, christmas chocolates and scratchcards and I'll probably end up picking up my own gift.

Hohomerryxmas · 09/12/2020 04:35

Stocking fillers for DP.
Helmet for DS2
Football for DS1
Power Bank for Ds1
Bath disco lights for DS2
Lamp for DS1

Still got quite a lot left.

  • Sent DF's gifts off and he's received them (lives abroad)
  • DM has a jumper so far, but need to get her some other bits still.
  • 4 presents for DH on the way, but still need a few more little bits.
  • Need something for Stepdad.
  • Need to get cards for everyone
  • Need to buy a godforsaken secret santa gift for the in-laws. I've had SIL for the second bloody year running (though she is the easiest to buy for)

-Need more wrapping paper and ribbons.

Thehollyandtheirony · 09/12/2020 07:07

We’ve finished the presents for the extended family as they had to be sent by post.
I still need:
-presents for the dogs
-pants for stockings
-extra socks for DS (I’ve got him a fancy pair for his stocking but he also needs a whole new set-not really Christmas but needs buying nonetheless)
-PJs for DH
-face cloths for stockings
-chocolate coins for stockings
-bubbles for stockings
-plan when to buy Christmas food
-write a prep list

merlotormalbec · 09/12/2020 07:09

Ooh are you doing the skittle colour mix thing it's amazing!!!!

Wrap presents
Buy the kittens present (water fountain and stocking)
Buy gloves and this bottle of wine for DH ( it was a wine we had in Africa once that I only thought you could get there until someone told me they sell it literally 10 mins from me so I'm so excited!)
Write Xmas cards 😩
Finish sisters stocking- they're coming here Xmas day and she's only 11 so want to do her a little stocking
Finish SS present

merlotormalbec · 09/12/2020 07:10

Finish the food shop!

NeverRTFT · 09/12/2020 07:21

Reserved a turkey for the 10 expected people. Now it's only going to be 5, one of whom is vegetarian. WHAT SHALL I COOK?? Need to order the meat. I'm only confident roasting chicken and slow-cooked pulled lamb, neither of which feel festive enough. Nervous to try a new thing on the day in front of my mum going all Hmm
Suggestions please?

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 09/12/2020 07:48

I know I'm not done but dd2 has been isolating for the last 2 weeks so not been able to check my present stash! Shes glued to my side permanently!! Back to school on Thursday but won't have chance till my day off on wednesday next week... cutting it fine this year!!
