My husband has been working away this autumn/winter and getting back for Christmas is very up in the air so with 3 girls have had to be very organised, I’m now down to my final list which is practically unheard of for me...

Reserved a turkey for the 10 expected people. Now it's only going to be 5, one of whom is vegetarian. WHAT SHALL I COOK?? Need to order the meat. I'm only confident roasting chicken and slow-cooked pulled lamb, neither of which feel festive enough. Nervous to try a new thing on the day in front of my mum going all Suggestions please?

How about a crown of turkey? You'll have left overs for sandwiches 🥪 which frankly is the best part 😃

I've had quite a productive 24 hours. I've got DFIL a book (still need to get something else. Maybe a paint by numbers), sweets for DSIL, chocolate for DP, smellies for DM and quite a few foody bits.

Still to get:

• present for DMIL
• something for DBIL and DSIL x 2 (probably local restaurant or just eat vouchers)
• something for my gran and great aunt (both 90, both awkward)
• something for my gran to give my DM, because she'll have forgotten
• bloody secret santa present
• fresh food, lemonade, gin and (lots of) rose wine!

I would say not to bad but I’ve got a pile of wrapping upstairs that I’m purposefully ignoring. I hate wrapping!

Went to Lidl today got a huge amount, loads of good dates in things that went beyond Xmas day. So I’ve got a gammon joint with fancy gold pineapple rings on for Boxing Day. Stocked up on dates, nuts, cheese etc and will try really hard not to eat them before Xmas! I love their baked Camemberts drool

I’ve wrapped up all the presents now, I shut myself in my bedroom, rock music on, and get wrapping. I love it, it’s so therapeutic.

Just need a couple of small bits for the DCs stockings. Got them new stockings this year, they’re black sacks and say stuff, so after Xmas they can use them in their rooms as storage for their shit stuff

Got a frozen turkey crown, frozen brussel sprouts with bacon and chantenay carrots all Lidl v good.

@desperatehousewife21 I just did most of my big Christmas shop at Lidl too. Agree that the baked Camembert is fab, I got a doughball wreath with the Camembert sat in the middle. Hopefully it'll still be here on Christmas Eve

Gammon, Turkey crown, big box of clementines, cheeses, oh and an easy carve goose joint with smoky bacon.

Apart from double cream I think I'm almost done for food shopping.

Had a late night wrapping frenzy for DM and siblings. I'm hauling the pressies over to them this weekend and collecting presents from them for DC. I won't see them over Christmas so getting that done and dusted in good time.

If I can I'll get into town today for stocking fillers for DC. That'll just leave wrapping their presents to do.

Love this thread and have just skimmed through for anything I've forgotten.

My list is:

• Finish crochet lion for my mum! (about 70% done)
• Second half of wrapping
• Prep crackers (adding my own bits pre-made ones)
• Meal planning for Christmas week
• Christmas shopping lists - Tesco C&C and a last minute fresh shop on 23rd
• Collect chickens from the butchers
• Order trousers for son (so he's not solely in joggers all holiday!)

Thanks Parbor I'll check them out. Far less faff than all the prep when only I'll be eating them. The DC will just push them off their plates, even the older ones!

Took DC shopping for their presents for people today, so now that's out of the way we can hunker down (took them out of school yesterday until January now), get everything wrapped and do a final food shop.

Junglepie It's my version of the Christmas eve box. Get a medium sized box with a lid. Cut down each corner. Glue in contents on the flaps. I put pyjamas on the bottom middle. It falls open when they take the lid off!
