My husband has been working away this autumn/winter and getting back for Christmas is very up in the air so with 3 girls have had to be very organised, I’m now down to my final list which is practically unheard of for me...

Pants for eldest DD’s stockings
Brown parcel paper
Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger Gin for MIL
Nice biscuits for DD’ tutor and Great Grandparents
Mixing bowl for youngest DD’s baking hamper
Skittles for the Elves (don’t ask)
Baileys miniatures to go in with a few thank you gifts
Christmas cards sent
Sainsbury’s Christmas shop completed
Money out for Chinese on Christmas Eve
Crackers
Dads Birthday Card (Boxing Day)
Pickles for my youngest’s stocking (again don’t ask!!!)
Some school Christmas admin
DH’s stocking

(There may be a few more things to add!!) anyone want to tick off their lists with me)

So nearly done. Still to do:

Look for chestnut puree (new Vegan sausage roll recipe I saw in the Guardian)

Write just a few cards and post them.

Waiting for one small present to arrive and wrap. All other wrapping finished.

Present for cat and hamster 🤨 Not sure if they will be bothered.

Check my medication so I have enough over Christmas and New Year

There might be one or two other things but I feel strangely calm and organised. Perhaps because earlier this week I was packing up Christmas bags for my 20 Brownies and organising collection before our last Zoom meeting. It took two hours in all. 😁

Food and drink! We’re visiting family for Xmas but want to get food and alcohol to take up with us. Will probably have to do this in the 22nd!!

desperatehousewife21 · 13/12/2020 14:06

I’ll need to do at least 2 food shops between now and Xmas. I’ve got what I can but some fresh stuff obv won’t last. Am gonna go mega early Xmas eve morning and hope there’s stuff on the shelves. I’m working up to the 24th so won’t be able to go before then.

For the poster that asked about sprouts, I’ve got Lidl’s frozen they are mixed with bacon. I dont actually like them but the DCs do.

I’m just waiting on one parcel to arrive which is part of the in laws present. Think it’s coming by Royal Mail so it’s anyone’s guess when it turns up.

Deelish75 · 13/12/2020 14:59

I’ve got a bottle of wine and a bottle bag on my next Sainsbury’s order - for my hairdresser.

Waiting for two presents to arrive. One is from Amazon, the other is coming by Royal Mail and our local sorting depot has been wiped out by Covid, luckily most of the posties have recovered now but there’s such a backlog. Fingers crossed we get it soon.

Want to buy some nice Christmas flowers.

Write and post cards for neighbours and local friends (haven’t posted any this year due to the problems Royal Mail have been having).

Got all my food now for the freezer and food cupboard and I’ve got a click and collect for the morning of the 23rd with all my fresh food in it.

Think I've got the kids all sorted

Need to get presents for parents - going with a bottle each, so easy to do!

Not bought anything for husband yet, no ideas really but it will only be something small.

Need to start wrapping before the kids break up...

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/12/2020 17:37

For once, all gifts are bought and wrapped for the extended family and for the dds. Just waiting on 2 to arrive to be added to a gift box for her.

Waiting on a tshirt for DH. And will need to wrap his 3 token gifts.

And then make a last minute shopping list for foods and treats to buy to then be able to avoid the shops like the plague!

I want to make ginger cake, mince pies with a streusel topping and rocky road. And I want a fully stocked fridge as dd1 is back from uni next weekend and I will need to meal plan more.

anyoldname76 · 13/12/2020 17:42

I've still got the following to do

£20 for bosses Christmas present
Present for a work colleague
Christmas cards to write
Husband's birthday cards to get

I'm happy it's a short list now 😁

orangejuicer · 13/12/2020 19:22

A couple of presents to wrap but otherwise done with those.

Online food shops so just need to work out what we need. I did a butcher's run the other day so freezer is well stocked. Probably need a few lockdown supplies for the new year but nothing over the top.

Twitching about a trip to M&S for nice bits but equally thinking that's probably a terrible idea.

santasmincepie · 14/12/2020 14:10

My DP has just tested positive so the absolute earliest we will be allowed out again is Christmas Eve. VERY glad most stuff is done. We do still have a few bits to get but any outstanding presents will need to be done online

junglepie · 14/12/2020 17:07

@I8toys

Junglepie It's my version of the Christmas eve box. Get a medium sized box with a lid. Cut down each corner. Glue in contents on the flaps. I put pyjamas on the bottom middle. It falls open when they take the lid off!
oh thats brilliant, so clever! Am going to try that for next year (not organised enough to do this year now!)
