Favourite part of the Christmas meal

Following on from another thread - what is your favourite part of the Christmas feast?
Mine is most definitely Christmas pudding. Aldi's are usually lovely, and as I'm the only one who really enjoys it, we tend to have loads left over from the extra large one I buy. I put it into little Tupperware pots in the freezer with a little cream to get out from time to time - keeps me feeling Christmassy for ages afterwards! The rest is a glorified roast dinner which I can take or leave except the pigs in blankets!

I actually love the starter as we usually have it a few hours before the main meal- smoked salmon on brown bread and a few glasses of something fizzy. It's still nice and bright out, before a nice brisk walk, and the whole day stretching ahead of us; and it always feels like a real treat drinking champagne in the day time!

I love Christmas 🎄

Bungle2 · 23/11/2020 20:31

The cold bits on Boxing Day 😂

MaidenMotherCrone · 23/11/2020 20:32

The sprouts and turkey gravy. I know I'm odd.

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 23/11/2020 20:34

Goose fat roast potatoes and gravy.

TheCrow · 23/11/2020 20:38

Pigs in blankets smothered in cranberry sauce

Laurendelight · 23/11/2020 20:40

I think it’s the Holiday Sandwich as made by Monika in Friends. We have white bloomer bread, turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and pig in blankets. We eat this on repeat until turkey runs out. I’ve been known to cook extra pigs and stuffing in order to have these sandwiches.

Oysterbabe · 23/11/2020 20:41

Potatoes
Pigs in blankets
Stuffing.

I can't choose between them and you can't make me.

Lexilooo · 23/11/2020 20:42

Pigs in blankets, no contest!

Doordine · 23/11/2020 20:43

Pigs in blankets, port and stilton and the boxing day sandwich

MrsPnut · 23/11/2020 20:44

Bread sauce, I don’t really make it any other time but it is a must at Christmas.
Eaten with cold pigs in blankets dipped in it from after lunch until we run out.

Miltonkeynesmummy · 23/11/2020 20:44

Bread sauce, stuffing and turkey

With leftovers, a big bubble and squeak

MadauntofA · 23/11/2020 20:46

Don't worry, I won't make you choose!!
I like the idea of a Monica sandwich- would have to be pigs in blankets with stuffing and gravy in white bread. Cranberry sauce would have no part in it!

The starter! Prawn cocktail in homemade sauce. Yum!

I make sure I place them on the table so I get the biggest portion Blush

PurBal · 23/11/2020 20:46

Sprouts, swede and roast potatoes.

PurBal · 23/11/2020 20:46

And breakfast champagne

PurpleDaisies · 23/11/2020 20:48

Cold leftover roast potatoes

Actually, leftovers full stop!

purplecorkheart · 23/11/2020 21:03

The starter normally. We often have beef with a shallot parma ham and horseradish stuffing. I like that on toasted bread as a late night snack.

floofycroissant · 23/11/2020 21:04

Prawn cocktail!

Lozz22 · 23/11/2020 21:15

Bacon sarnies and bucks fizz

Pigs in blankets
Sausagemeat stuffing
Goose fat Roast potatoes

Christmas pudding

Mulled wine

Boxing Day fried stuffing, bubble and squeak and cold turkey with tomato sauce

ExpensivelyDecorated · 23/11/2020 21:29

Roast potatoes and onion gravy. Most of the rest of it I can take or leave. Leftovers especially, I don't like them at all.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 23/11/2020 21:29

Pigs in blankets 😍

ToffeeAppleCaramel · 23/11/2020 21:33

Pigs in blankets and a lovely cheese board

Yep! Me too! But I do love the prawn cocktail and pigs in blankets too.

I could have written this post!
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 23/11/2020 21:42

Also, spiced beef. That’s probably one for the Munster contingent of Craicnet!
