Favourite part of the Christmas meal

Following on from another thread - what is your favourite part of the Christmas feast?
Mine is most definitely Christmas pudding. Aldi's are usually lovely, and as I'm the only one who really enjoys it, we tend to have loads left over from the extra large one I buy. I put it into little Tupperware pots in the freezer with a little cream to get out from time to time - keeps me feeling Christmassy for ages afterwards! The rest is a glorified roast dinner which I can take or leave except the pigs in blankets!

We are a house divided! I like bread sauce, all the veg, stuffing, Yorkshire pudd and gravy....Xmas pudding, mince pies and Xmas cake and stolen (not all on one plate!)
The strange other people in the house like meat , pigs n blankets, packet stuffing and chocolate cake ....heathens!
None of us like turkey....

Last year we did a buffet on Boxing Day because everyone was coming over. For dinner on the 27th, I had a great mixture of crisps, ham, salad, coleslaw, scotch eggs and other assorted leftover goodies. Probably my favourite dinner of the season!

Getting sloshed on enough champagne beforehand to not care how it turns out.

The fact I always have a sleep while DH makes it.

Prawn cocktail starter, the whole Boxing Day meal and Christmas pudding.

The nut roast followed by the roast potatoes! I know some people eat roasts every week and several times over Christmas so I've seen on here - but we only eat nut roast on Christmas day and roast potatoes not very often so I look forward to them! Making red cabbage this year which I've not had in years so excited about that too! I also love Christmas pudding and brandy butter!

Gingerkittykat · 24/11/2020 22:36

Roasted parsnips.
pigs in blankets.
Roasties, which I don't eat the rest of the year.
Cranberry sauce.

The dessert which is always a non-traditional one in our household. Last year it was my sister's banoffi pie.

M&S cranberry and port sauce- the fresh one with whole cranberries in. Oh my goodness it is amazing!!

But I do prefer Boxing Day dinner, it’s more chilled, I’m not sweaty and don’t lose my appetite. Simple cold meats, mash, all the pickles, hot roll and of course more cranberry sauce! Grin

Mmm... the turkey smothered in paxo stuffing and gravy.

TrickyD · 25/11/2020 09:33

Brandy butter, home made.

Parsnips
Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Sprouts

There's no such thing as too many of any of them
