Argghhhh, I’m so sorry, I hope I haven’t lost you all! I was keeping a beady eye then got distracted trying to work out how to forward plan a Zoom call for work and invite someone, which should only take a few minutes but I’m incompetent and it took me far too long Blush .

@CarrotVan I hope it was the former!

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

@CompleteBarstool

Has anyone bought or know anything about storm glasses/weather globes (picture attached of the sort of thing I mean).

I've seen lots in the £20-30 price bracket but dont know if the cheap ones are rubbish (or, in fact, if they're all rubbish and do nothing!!)

I thought they'd make a good present for FIL if they work

I was looking at these last year and again this year for DH. I've ended up givig up on them as most have bad reviews or are ok for a few weeks then stop working.
LetsPlayBamboozled · 11/11/2020 10:46

Not everyone's idea of a wonderous Christmas gift but I just got a Waterpik waterflosser at Boots for £35 (usually £55). They're price matching, I didn't think it would go lower black friday.. Having not seen a dentist in a year now I am all for practical gifts!!!

Floss those teeth!

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 11/11/2020 10:49

I got a confirmation email from typo, very thorough one with my full order listed (which was useful this morning to remind me exactly what I’d ordered).

PinkDaydreams · 11/11/2020 10:51

Does anyone know how the Amazon treasure truck works please? They've got a Woodford reserve set on it but I can't view the price without actually signing up to it.

It is sold out

Do not sign up with treasure truck unless you are prepared to receive a phone call every day at 9am (with a text message) for 3 years and have no way to stop it

princessbear80 · 11/11/2020 10:55

Thanks @bettyskitchen for the ASOS heads up, I’ve nearly finished my shopping now!

PinkDaydreams · 11/11/2020 11:03

@WillSantaBeComingToTown oh gosh I'm glad I didn't sign up, thank you for the warning!!

Changingagain · 11/11/2020 11:05

louise4745 I've bought a few things for people who I didn't know what to get for them and some stocking fillers. I also have bought a couple of things that I thought were really good deals to go to the local salvation army gift collection.
Nothing that was actually on my list yet though.

You can stop it on a mobile but I used our home phone number and there is no way to stop them

Lellyo · 11/11/2020 11:11

@Ashmonster

lellyo its handpainted pictures which are then printed onto coasters, mats, mugs, chopping boards etc. Katie also handpaints onto slate (which I have and I've just ordered another). I'm nothing to do with Blue Butterfly but I love her work and with this year being what it is, I think small businesses need every friendly hand they can get.
@Ashmonster ... oh my goodness .... I could spend all day browsing, it is all lovely, thank you
caffeineanddryshampoo · 11/11/2020 11:13

Wordery has Wreck this picture book for £9.75, currently £13.68 on amazon. Haven't bought this yet but looks like a fun interactive book (not noisy) for 5-8 year olds.

TheLastStarfighter · 11/11/2020 11:21

I gave up on Typo. There were things I really wanted to get totaling about £15, but I couldn't bring myself to pay £5 delivery charge, and couldn't find anything that I actually wanted/needed to bring it up to the £30 free delivery threshold.

WillSantaBeComingToTown · 11/11/2020 11:21

If you are making your own Christmas train using brio amazon has a few traditional type trains with batteries (some rechargeable ) on offer

www.amazon.co.uk/BRIO-World-Battery-Powered-Engine/dp/B00000IUMW?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_ddfa57f4_75&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

We used to have a green mat or a white mat from Ikea to put the tree on and then run the train round with loads of different figures- (probably mostly cake toppers) Santa. snowmen- the schleich polar bears and penguins. The children made trees from small branches cut from evergreen stuck in bases.

It was a lot of fun they are 22 and 25 now- I might make them do it all this year. It was very clearly home made but that made it more fun. We did have a few random Pokemon turn up one year.

I think they offer free returns? Nothing to stop you ordering an extra item to get up to the £30 threshold and then returning it Wink
livingthegoodlife · 11/11/2020 11:43

Barbie campervan back up to full price already!

DillieDoily · 11/11/2020 11:45

Has anyone done their Nectar double up yet? I'm planning on going later to get Christmas wine

gaggiagirl · 11/11/2020 11:53

Yes I'm just back from th double up. I still have £30 left but my £70 today got me lots!

However....the terms seasonal and gift sets do not include anything with food in it. Any food item is classed as grocery so we had to put all our Christmas gifty sweets back. It's probably in the fine print but I thought they would fall under seasonal or gifts.

BalaamsAss · 11/11/2020 12:01

That’s a change from last year @gaggiagirl - we had to use up vouchers last year because we had already exchanged them and then couldn’t get some of what we wanted. We used them up on things like chocolate pugs and a london bus tin of kitkats.

HoneyPea · 11/11/2020 12:05

@Fancyateapottea @lexloofah Thanks x

Fuckingfuckssake · 11/11/2020 12:06

Just wondering if anyone would mind giving me a Unidays code for H&M please?

XmasLockdown · 11/11/2020 12:06

We are getting a frying pan and wine tonight with double ups.

0ttoline · 11/11/2020 12:13

Thanks so much to the pp, a few threads ago, who posted about the Superfood Bakery mixes. They were just what we needed, as one of the family is newly gluten free.

I've made four of them so far, and all were really nice! It's sold out now, but I thought anyone who's bought and saving them for Christmas might like to know. They'll be a lovely present.

Rockhopper81 · 11/11/2020 12:22

@PinkDaydreams - I get messages when there are Treasure Truck offers, but not 'phone calls. I don't use my landline number on anything really though (mostly because I'm not sure what it is without checking), so not sure if that makes a difference?

The short version - not sure you'll get 'phone calls if you sign up to Treasure Truck.

I can absolutely believe it would be nigh-on impossible to cancel it though, so @WillSantaBeComingToTown, you have my sympathies.
