With that Lego list.. will you adopt me please?
It's more than enough. Lots would say to much. Personally I think that's up to the parents. My only thought would be the lack of balance... Pretty much only lego for the boys, including adult sets.

NullcovoidNovember · 08/11/2020 12:48

Sounds perfect but context could be that your family will also give themselves 100 s of gifts.

They are a lap creative toys so should keep them occupied...

Sounds good list to me!

Ickabog · 08/11/2020 12:53

I'm a huge fan of Lego (AFOL) and I honestly think it's too much. Sets like stranger things will take a few days to put together, and would be plenty enough without the other 9 sets. Even as an adult it would be overwhelming. Having so many would spoil any enjoyment, as I would feel like I had to plough through it and move onto the next one.

pollyeolly · 08/11/2020 12:54

Personally that's excessive to me. I've bought DS7 3 lego nitendo sets & was thinking of holding back. The Bowser one was bloody £90.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 12:56

Its difficult as the boys only like lego, I got them skates and they didn't ask for them just to get them moving lol from their lego... they both are already pros at building and aged 18 lego sets havent ever phased them before. But yes the girl has more variety then the boys but I only bought what they would play with. X

In my world, that's absolutely masses of presents.

If it's a lot more than usual, then bear in mind, you have to keep it up each year or it'll be a letdown to get far less the next year!

I think it's unfair of your mum to say you're spoiling them. How does she know it won't turn them into generous souls who want to bless others as they've been blessed?

But yes, it's a lot of toys for one day.

Winterfellismyhome · 08/11/2020 12:56

I love Lego and we have a few of the big sets but i think this is excessive. Those sets are expensive and can take a while to build. Personally, it would have been one big set as a main gift then some little bits

pastandpresent · 08/11/2020 12:57

Wow, that's a lot.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 12:57

They only have one grandma so they won't be getting much from her and there is noone else..

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 12:58

Last year they got a lot of sets and they took their time and finished building in May this year haha

How are you planning on being able to store and make sure the kits don’t get mixed up on day one.

I can just imagine wanting to open them all up at once at that age? Seems excessive to me.

pollyeolly · 08/11/2020 13:00

It's personal preference, I tend to stick to about £200 (I think) for each dc. But they do get toys throughout the year.

Bickles · 08/11/2020 13:02

I’ve done the same- gone overboard on Lego!
DS is getting Diagon Alley and Room of Requirement (from Santa), Attack on the Burrow and Umbridge’s encounter (from us) and 3 Avengers sets from Grandparents.
DH45 is getting Mos Eisley Cantina.Grin
There’s also a HP Lego advent calendar and the gingerbread house in the loft!

Where are the baby Yoda teddies from?

Parkermumma07 · 08/11/2020 13:02

My children get nothing like that.

DD age 3
wooden kitchen
Doll
Jigsaw

DD age 8
Football kit
Cricket set
Fitness tracker

They get lots of grandparents, the more they get the less mine seem to appreciate it. So I keep it simple now.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:04

They don't mix the sets up as every year they put them all away and get one out at a time and when finished they wait a few days and move to the next. Its how they have always done it. Its far less then when they were younger as lego is mega expensive but I work hard for my money and spend only at Xmas. No toys allowed the whole year not even something small except 2 for bday

Ignoringequally · 08/11/2020 13:05

I have a 7 year old DD and that’s at least double what she’s getting, and I thought I had gone overboard Grin

Ickabog · 08/11/2020 13:06

If they're only really into Lego then I would be thinking outside the box. Buy them power functions, joblots of bricks and let them learn how to make their own MOCs (my own creations). Find a local LUG (Lego user group) Set them a challenge to build something to submit to Lego ideas, or build something that can move, climb, transform etc. Lego sets are great, but buying them expensive sets isn't actually that much fun, as once it's built they just end up collecting dust.

Landlubber2019 · 08/11/2020 13:06

My kids love lego and I buy Lego, who doesn't enjoy lego.

But there are no books, no games or shared family interests just lots of very expensive Lego.

CodenameVillanelle · 08/11/2020 13:07

That's £100s of stuff isn't it. I guess it's fine if you can afford it but yeah it's a lot!

DS is also getting loads of books, but I buy books all the time anyway. He’s a free reader so I buy used sets off FB marketplace and sell on when read.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:09

Sorry yes we got scrabble, monopoly and game of life as shared gifts also and some David walliams books for the 2 boys and some Xmas books for our daughter too 😀
