I've just received these in the post.

Wrist warmers by Turtle Doves £26. Recycled cashmere.

I bought 2 pairs as Christmas gifts for DSiL and friend, but I'm having one of the pairs because they are just so lovely and just a bit different. They come in lots of colour options.

What else have you all found for gift ideas that are lovely or just a bit different.

Ooh they look lovely!
I love St.Eval products
Neal’s Yard bee bubble bath
Thought bamboo Christmas socks 💕
Country living Christmas at home book
New York Christmas book
(These last two are real coffee table books and will only appeal to those who love Christmas books!)
A set of reusable cotton wool / beauty pads

I’m a fairly traditional gift receiver though. I love a nice quality scented soy / natural candle, natural toiletries, socks, bubbly, chocolates. I know plenty on MN hate these types of gifts Grin

I swear by the turtle doves fingerless gloves. I've worn them for years and they somehow manage to keep your whole hand warm.
I recommend Space Masks. They are scented eye masks that gently heat up as you wear them. Super relaxing! About £16 for 5, so a great little stocking filler.

daisydalrymple · 24/10/2020 13:42

Yes I think I’m going to order four pairs of the turtle dove glaciers Grin me, sis, mum and MIL.

Suzi888 · 24/10/2020 13:42

Liz Earle cleanse and polish Smile kits
Molton Brown for the bath

PurpleHazy · 24/10/2020 13:49

Wow @pontiouspilates those look amazing. Think I'm going to order some for adult dd for Xmas!

PhantomErik · 24/10/2020 13:49

A few of the more generic 'female' gifts I've bought this year are:

Pink tartan blanket scarf (Lisa Angel)
Faith in Nature shower gel
Mini champagne
Champagne truffles (Booja Booja)
Dr Botanicals handcream
Notebooks (Magpie)
Bamboo travel mug with personalised sleeve (local garden centre)
Wax Lyrical candles
Fake Oodie

Fingers crossed they'll be well received!

daisydalrymple · 24/10/2020 13:53

**. Gloves not glaciers Grin

SpeckledyHen · 24/10/2020 13:56

We don’t give or receive presents in our family amongst adults .
However if we did I would like :-

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil .
M & S hair turban as a spare
A trip to Liberty of London to buy some Aesop Marrakech perfume

LzzyHale · 24/10/2020 14:06

I've bought some Fortnum and Mason bags for life, and some of their tins of biscuits and teas etc. I'll probably pad them out with hand cream and a few other things too.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 24/10/2020 14:13

@pontiouspilates I like the look of those masks. Not clear from their website whether single use or whether you can reuse them?

tentative3 · 24/10/2020 15:26

@RockingMyFiftiesNot they're single use.

IggyAce · 24/10/2020 16:17

Nuxe lip balm, best I’ve ever used. I discovered it last year and will get another pot this Christmas. Their hand cream is lovely too.
I love cabin socks, I’ve currently got a pair from Joules but am eyeing up the Seasalt ones.

Worriedmum42 · 24/10/2020 16:30

My husband bought me the wrist warmers last year and they are fab but a word of warning ours were delivered with the branding all over the box so the surprise was not so much a surprise. I think you might be able to ask them to send in un branded box if buying for someone in your household.

waltzingparrot · 24/10/2020 16:51

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm really not up for trawling round the shops this year, and normally I love seeking out the little independents to find something a bit different.

I bought this Penhaligon scent library earlier this year. (£20) They are only those small 2ml sample vials but they are useful to keep in a handbag/toilet bag.

I love Penhaligon fragrances and the normal bottles are around £150-200 so this really is a tiny little bit of luxury. There's actually 5 fragrances for women and 5 for men, but I wear the lot.

I love this thread!!

I have bought this little ‘mindful moments’ meditation set for my mum - it’s 10 mini candles and a brass stand in a box. Each candle has 20 minutes burn time so you can use them for meditation.

Pricey for £18.50 but a sweet gift.

Cannot link as on phone but Chateau du Savon mystery box, 8 real Marseilles soaps made with natural ingredients for £20 or create your own box. Scents range from vertiver to orange blossom to eucalyptus to "licorne" - presumably no unicorns harmed!!

They also do a lait d'anesse range of asses' milk soap for sensitive skin.

Sadly, they are single use..but wonderful as an occasional treat and great for me when I just can't sleep.

ScarlettDarling · 24/10/2020 20:17

I second the space masks, they're so relaxing.

hillfda · 24/10/2020 20:20

Yes the space masks are good they smell nice too

They are quite a specific gift If someone bought them for me (age mid 50s) I would think they had totally wasted their money and they would be on eBay by boxing day.
waltzingparrot · 24/10/2020 20:56

@CovidClara I'm 58 Grin and I love them.

Which is great but certainly not a generic female gift.

Can I ask where you got the fake oodies from please? I think my DCs would love them, but I'm not prepared to pay Oodie prices!
JellyBelly78 · 24/10/2020 22:23

I bought an oodie style from Amazon For Xmas called Sienna Hooded Blanket, only had a quick look at it but nice and soft and quality looked fine. Will have to see how it lasts. Was 17.99 when I bought so gone up in price.

AlohaMolly · 24/10/2020 22:32

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, I bought my mum two subscriptions for her 60th this year.

The first was a £20 bloom and wild subscription, so she’s getting flowers through the post once a month. She says every month it’s like another little surprise and it brings her a lot of joy!

The other one was a monthly book subscription. I had to pay upfront for that one so I paid £100 and slightly personalised the criteria and now she gets a book a month delivered to her!
