I've just received these in the post.

Wrist warmers by Turtle Doves £26. Recycled cashmere.

I bought 2 pairs as Christmas gifts for DSiL and friend, but I'm having one of the pairs because they are just so lovely and just a bit different. They come in lots of colour options.

What else have you all found for gift ideas that are lovely or just a bit different.

@OgwdihwO

If you scroll all the way to the bottom, there’s a classic bloom for £20 option, which is like a rolling monthly fee. I love my mum but no way would/could I pay £225 GrinGrin

Would help if I put the link -

Bird & Blend is great for any tea fans. Lots of amazing flavours as well as other tea related gifts.

MrsRexVandeKamp · 27/10/2020 10:57

Space masks are amazing, such a little luxury!

I've got the turtle doves and agree they do a brilliant job of keeping my granny arthritis hands warm (even tho I'm only 41 🙈). However, they went very, very bobbly and tatty really quickly. I still wear them at home where nobody sees them, but wouldn't ever want to go out in them and would have felt embarrassed giving them as a gift. Maybe I just got unlucky with my pair?

tentative3 · 27/10/2020 11:52

I have several pairs of turtle doves (I wear them for work) and the felted pair are the sturdiest. I couldn't instantly see a link to them on their website, but don't always find the website that easy to navigate. If you message them they may well have some.

ancientgran · 27/10/2020 12:09

It is so hard as people like such different things. The turtle doves look lovely but I crocheted myself two pairs last year and I love them. Smelly soaps are great but they bring me out in a rash. Plants drive me mad (I like them really but people keep buying me them and every windowsill is full of them.) I'm not keen on cut flowers. I don't like things like spa days or an afternoon tea as I feel I am forced to do something, I've had lots of them. I begin to sympathise with my kids who say I am impossible to buy for but the thing is I don't want alot of "stuff" and if there is something I want I buy it.

I'd love an antique music box but that's probably pricey. I love chocolate and books but for some reason I keep being told "we can't keep buying you that." I'd like a chocolate cake from Betty's in York.

I did like those perfume samples.

I bought my DM one of those photo cushions from Photobox for her birthday. She's in a care home and because of regular lockdowns she's seen little of the family this year but she loves her cushion which has photos of us all on, because she gets to hug us.

They come in various sizes and you can choose single or double sided so prices vary from about £25-50.

That is lovely for her waltzingparrot. She can give people a hug through the cushion.

@waltzingparrot Thanks for the Penhaligons scent library idea - just ordered one and looking forward to receiving #giftforme...

ancientgran · 27/10/2020 16:32

I'm thinking of ordering the scent library, not sure who for so might be a bit mad.

Bobbiepin · 27/10/2020 18:34

Bought my MIL a puzzle of a family picture, she loved that. Gonna get my DM an essential oils diffuser and will probably get my Dsis the tresemme round hairbrush dryer thing. I have one and it's great.

BeaLola · 28/10/2020 00:38

I bought myself a set of space masks earlier this year and loved them - found it very relaxing - I think there is a rose version - haven't tried those

I treated myself to the White Company electronic diffuser and love it

Other suggestions - the aromatherapy associates selection box of oils - I do like a lot of their products - the rose hand sanitiser is a new product for the times that is lovely

Jo Malobe Vit E lip balm

Small lovely candles such as the mini Jo Loves or Jo Malone travel ones

Penhaligons lip balm

Swell bottles in fab colours from TKMax

Soap - tonnes of great choice - to me a lovely little gift

Fluffy snuggly throw to wrap myself in when I binge watch Netflix

My linen dressing gown from H&M

Anyone who can go to London for exhibition I went to the Kimono exhibition at the V&A and it was beautiful

Pretty stationery

LittleOldWineDrinker · 28/10/2020 05:05

@bobbiepin where did you get the family picture jigsaw from? My MIL would love one of the grandkids.

Guineapigbridge · 28/10/2020 05:28

timetochangeagainforever · 28/10/2020 05:33

Snowfairy could you please tell me where you bought the candles from, they would be a perfect gift for my niece (and to myself) thanks

MrsRexVandeKamp · 28/10/2020 10:29

@guineapigbridge how about a flying unicorn instead? Might be more achievable 🙈

Bobbiepin · 28/10/2020 11:07

Jigsawpuzzle.co.uk you need a relatively high quality picture but it was very good quality.

Rachto2 · 28/10/2020 18:54

I’m thinking of giving the woman in the family hampers and fill it with there favourite things

Too girly

QueenoftheIceAge · 30/10/2020 17:49

Does Turtle Doves have a PR person permanently posting on Mumsnet? There are SO many recommendations for them and they are SO boring and average.

They must do- even my 90 year old mother wouldn't entertain them.
waltzingparrot · 30/10/2020 22:16

@QueenoftheIceAge Well it's not me. I'm just a very happy first time owner.
