I've just received these in the post.

Wrist warmers by Turtle Doves £26. Recycled cashmere.

I bought 2 pairs as Christmas gifts for DSiL and friend, but I'm having one of the pairs because they are just so lovely and just a bit different. They come in lots of colour options.

What else have you all found for gift ideas that are lovely or just a bit different.

I want to book my mum a spa day for next year. Or maybe book an appointment at the hairdresser where she can get a cut and dye to cheer her up.

pontiouspilates · 24/10/2020 22:44

hillfda don't know where you are based, but I had an email from Champneys yesterday and they are offering some amazing spa deals at the moment. I've always had a wonderful time there, so can vouch for quality of spa and food!

hillfda · 24/10/2020 23:01

Thanks so much. I've been looking at a few but there's so many to choose from it's exhausting lol. I needed to hear a recommendation from someone.

ifiwasascent · 24/10/2020 23:05

Following with interest! @snowfairylover thank you for this suggestion- my friend is an avid meditator and will love these for Xmas!

snowfairylover · 24/10/2020 23:25

@ifiwasascent I’m so glad! I also love how you can purchase refill candles separately ☺️

I've bought annual magazine subscriptions before which have gone down well. Loads of choice for home bakers, gardeners, well anything really. I had Country living and Good Food bought for me for a year. It's basically a free magazine plopping through your letterbox every month and it's great.

magazine.co.uk are doing Home & Garden for £12 for 12 issues at the moment.

Just ordered some of the Spacemasks, they will be perfect for my mum.

dolphinpose · 25/10/2020 08:05

Caudalie hand cream. A friend gave me some last year and I use it all the time. Still have some left but it's on the list again. Smells gorgeous and really does help with dry skin and weak nails.

Neal's Yard geranium foaming bath

L'Occitane Verbena shower or bath foam

Origins Ginger bath mousse

Cashmere bed socks (love the look of those wrist warmers too, OP.)

I buy Primark Ugg-alikes for cousins who spend their lives mucking out horses and come home to stone flagged chilly kitchens. They always go down well and get requested again.

dolphinpose · 25/10/2020 08:08

@Risingsuntheearth I would be so happy if someone bought me a Himalayan salt lamp.

What about spider plants with dangling baby plants already sprouting?Or a big green house plant. Would people think they were too generic?

Walkley18 · 25/10/2020 10:22

@daisydalrymple, have checked out the New York Christmas book and it's now in my Amazon basket. Unsure whether it's for my sister... or me!

daisydalrymple · 25/10/2020 11:53

walkley I bought it as a gift last year... but kept it Grin so I’ll rebuy it for the original recipient this year!

FeltCarrot · 25/10/2020 11:56

Can someone link to the New York book please?

daisydalrymple · 25/10/2020 11:56

covidclara I wouldn’t see them as a generic female gift either as they certainly wouldn’t appeal to my younger work colleagues for example. Luckily I know my sister, mum and MIL very well and know they would love them as unfortunately we all suffer with joint issues. Ages range from 49 - 76.

BrowncoatWaffles · 25/10/2020 12:08

I did exactly the same thing with the Turtle Dove fingerless gloves last year OP. Bought some for my mum and aunt and then when they arrived and I saw them treated myself to a pair in purple. Just wonderful!

This whole thread is brilliant.

Ellapaella · 25/10/2020 12:11

I've just ordered 4 boxes of the space masks so thank you @pontiouspilates -great gift idea. If you order through cult beauty you can get 15% of with the code YOU15

Ellapaella · 25/10/2020 12:13

I have the turtledoves fingerless gloves and they are brilliant if you work at home and don't want to have the heating on all day. They really do keep your hands so warm.

FeltCarrot · 25/10/2020 13:35

@daisydalrymple Thank you!

I bought my fake Oodie from Amazon for about £11. Some people have been disappointed with the quality but I love mine! Maybe I have cheap taste Grin

Mine is so cosy & my DC have tried it on & love it. Huge on them but that makes it even better really.

I'm no good at posting links but will attach a photo of the listing I bought.

Lot's of lovely ideas in this thread. I think nice hamper with bits and pieces is a nice gift and you can spend as much as your budget allows. I made one with Kinder Bueno bars, a bottle of Blood Orange gin, hand cream, candles and various other things I know they would like.

OgwdihwO · 25/10/2020 18:15

@AlohaMolly

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, I bought my mum two subscriptions for her 60th this year.

The first was a £20 bloom and wild subscription, so she’s getting flowers through the post once a month. She says every month it’s like another little surprise and it brings her a lot of joy!

The other one was a monthly book subscription. I had to pay upfront for that one so I paid £100 and slightly personalised the criteria and now she gets a book a month delivered to her!

It says the yearly sub is around £225. What is the £20 sub? Is it £20 a month? Thanks x
pontiouspilates · 25/10/2020 18:55

Thank you for that link phantomelk I'll order a couple of those.

waltzingparrot · 25/10/2020 23:45

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff. Thanks for info on Marseilles soaps - I'm ordering a mystery box.

How about this for lovers of French soaps. Wall mounted rotating soaps from frenchsoaps.co.uk
