I have a few friends i'd like to gift something small and cheap this Xmas. What are some token gifts you'd like to receive and would actually use?

You sound like a lovely, thoughtful friend.

A scented candle is always a favourite

A wool scarf from Dunedin, a bar of Tony Chocolonely chocolate, a Costa gift card, anything from the Boots Harry Potter range (I love the Hedwig slippers for £8.50 and the bath bombs for £6 and the Hedwig hand cream for £8...actually it’s all 3 for 2, so a bargain)

The way I think of it, you might as well get something they can/will use.

So I like to receive chocolate or shower gel, because I love both of those!

A lot of people get little tokens like pieces of cheap jewellery or scarves or similar, but there's too much risk with that not appealing to the taste of the recipient unless you really know them well.

Definitely a book token or a hyacinth bulb in a nice container.

My ideal gift is chocolate and socks.

Gifts for my friends this year include a scarf, trinket box, notebook, purse, candle and Harry Potter bath bomb.

Only thing I'm not thrilled to receive really is body lotion or hand cream (because I just don't use them and I've got three drawers full of the stuff 🙈).

The cash. Please, just the £5, £10 or if you're feeling flush £20 in a card. I'd be very happy to add to whatever I am saving for. I never get chance to buy for myself as I am a SAHM and feel guilty.
I'm not into food or alcohol so if you buy me red wine I'll use it for tuesday's spag bol, DH will hoover all chocolates and any smelly candles go to regift.
I ammiserable I know. My life would be so much nicer if I got cash instead of token gifts like 3 for 2 from boots. I am very happy with the £5.

Nice chocolates
Candle

Probably not alcohol as I don't drink much

I'd rather have something small that is good quality such £10 worth of chocolates than £10 on cheap toiletries

Rituals cherry shower gel or a Liz Earle cleanse and polish I think that's a nice gift

Of the suggestions I've read on here I also agree to book, stationary, hand cream, face mask

I have bought friends the l'occitane bauble sets where you get something like a hand cream, shower gel and body lotion or soap and hand cream. Sometimes QVC do good deals where you get three sets for about £25

The Milton brown shower gel baubles are ok but seem too "token" to me

A nail polish is bauble okay and to Maxx do some good gifts for Christmas

A set of 4 loccitane hand soaps is under £40 including P&P so you could split them

A set of four EPSA candles is about £45 and you could split those or put an ESPA hand san with them

I'm looking into the same thing myself

Dunelm have some neck shaped hot water bottles with teddy bear fabric covering for £7. I'd like one of those and a £1 box of maltesers. Possibly fluffy socks/slipper socks on top.

Face mask and matching hand sanitiser holder with clip.

Nice christmas mug and some of those Aldi Snowmen hot chocolate things.

This thread shows how hard it is!

I loathe wool things as itchy; if someone gave me a face mask I’d want to kill them

OP wants to tailor the gift to people so hopefully she would have an idea who would appreciate chocolates and who would appreciate a face mask or nail polish.

Another vote for chocolate Grin

I love a good notebook, a fresh scented essential oil candle, a potted plant, nice hand cream (Caudalie or Cath Kidston are both gorgeous for about a tenner), nice bubble bath or bath oil. I wouldn't really want chocolate as there's too much of it about at Christmas and I prefer presents that help you launch into a healthy New year.

See, @monkeyonthetable’s list has nothing of interest to me.
