I have a few friends i'd like to gift something small and cheap this Xmas. What are some token gifts you'd like to receive and would actually use?

BAM bamboo socks. Mine are a constant great joy and still feel like a cuddle from a cloud each time I put them on

This year for my parents table presents I bought champagne marmalade and champagne truffles from fortnum and Mason. Perfect, small, festive, I know the receivers will love them

Could you see if anyone in your area / facebook page is making something, and buy “token” gifts from them, that way supporting a small business.

Something like reusable face cleaning cloths

I am very easy to buy for. Candles (not Yankee though!), bath oil/ bubbles/ gel, socks, jam/ chutney, bulbs in a pot, diary, calendar, nail varnish, I love most things!

Chocolate but I’d rather have one really nice bar or a few special truffles than a large box of bog standard chocolates.
Flowers. If you are giving the presents in person then flowers are surprisingly affordable. Try buying two or three bunches of the same flower, same colour- it has a big impact and can be done for around a tenner, depending on the type.

The boxes of chocolate biscuits at m&s are nice and only £3 the blue box is always a hit in our house. Box of short bread or a tub of roses / celebrations.

Lidl baklava is yummy and a gift you can either eat all by yourself or with friends and a coffee - which could be a meet up. In the park - so I’m thinking h I’ll be giving some and suggesting we meet to eat them up😂

One mans treasure is another mans trash

Bamboo socks sound nice though. As does a vegetarian, bar soap.

Personally dislike any lotions, potions, 'beauty' stuff, candles or fragrance stuff.

Diabetic so chocolate/food gifts don't work

Alcohol only if it's what I like to drink, otherwise it's a bit pointless. Though a lovely friend gave me some home made stuff that was really nice.

Books if you include an exchange voucher (if they're still issuing them).

But it's really about knowing your friends & knowing what they'd like.

Lip balm, my lips always get chapped when it’s cold or a pair of gloves (as I always lose one!)

Some sort of nice edible thing- biscuits, chocolate, cheese, marmalade, chutney, that sort of thing.
I'd rather have a small amount of something delicious than a larger size of something less good.

Or else maybe a nice soap bar or Christmas decoration.

Biscuits- M&S do really nice ones for reasonable price.

Nothing smelly, soap/perfume/bath bombs/hand cream etc.

From someone who knows me well, wine, a book, something edible.

If it's someone who doesn't know me well the safer options for me personally would be a house plant, a voucher for a coffee/cake at a local independent cafe, something like that.

Fancy facemasks are surely the adult stocking filler of 2020

I'm making mini stockings with a matching facemask and popping in a bottle of nice sanitiser (Neals Yard/Dr Bronner etc) for my token gifts this year. DH suggested I make some extra and sell them - I'm not sure people would buy though (and the nice sanitiser is not cheap at £5 a pop if they don't). Can I hijack the thread to ask if people would buy something like this?
